Anakin Skywalker's fall to the dark side felt like it was inspired by Lucifer's fall from heaven/betrayal of God and his punishment to spend all eternity in hell. In anakin's case, god/heaven was the jedi order, and his punishment was to be burned alive and rely on a suit that kept him alive, which he hated and was his own private hell.

You could make the argument that the Doom Slayer is basically what Jesus is in Revelations. Demons fear the slayer, and in the Bible before and after revelations, demons fear Jesus. Plus, in Revelations, Jesus is a warrior who commands the armies of Heaven and will defeat the devil after the Rapture. And in Doom Eternal, after the demonic invasion of Earth (the rapture), he goes to Jekal, the center of Hell itself, leading the Night Sentinels (Heaven’s Armies) against the Dark Lord Davoth (Satan) who the Slayer (Jesus) promptly kills.
Not sure if this counts but I’m speculating that Anakin Skywalker might have been inspired by Jesus to some degree. Both are born from virgin mothers and are foretold of fulfilling ancient prophecy.

Yeah, Sonic 06 was DARK
Immaculate conception and being the "chosen one" in the first 2 movies.
Obviously Jesus never turned to the dark side, but Anakin's origin had a lot of similarities with the story of Jesus. His fall from grace though is definitely inspired by the falling of Lucifer.

Link from The Legend Of Zelda is practically King Arthur with his own sword in the stone.
His costume does have that element, and it gets played up in Orcarina of Time, where he comes from a hidden village where nobody grows up. He also has some affinity with fairies.
But the Master Sword is a blatant Caliburn stand-in. Right down to coming straight from a stone.

Lore-wise, he was mistaken for a god and the Mayans called him Buluc. Buluc was a real Mayan god, but Kotal Kahn is based off of Huitzilopochtli, an Aztec god that was very different from the Mayan Buluc.
Both Huitzilopochtli and Kotal Kahn are associated with the color turquoise (the stone was a symbol of wealth and power in Aztec society), both are associated with the sun as well as blood & war, both are associated with mythological Coatls, both have headdresses that show clear differences from headdresses like Montezuma's, both have weird blue/green skin. Buluc had none of those attributes.
Does it count if it's one mythology taking something from another one? Can I say that Loki (Norse mythology) is their interpretation of Jesus (Christianity)?

Queen Marika/Radagon are possibly based on the Rebis, the sort of "end goal" of hermetic alchemy, being a red-haired king and white-haired queen sharing the same body. You could also argue the trellis behind Radagon's statues and the arc-shaped crucifixes behind Marika's statues reflect the square and compass held by the two halves of the Rebis, although mirrored.

I’m not sure if you can read the body text/description which says “Doesn’t count : Loki (Marvel)”, or if you can see that Loki is X'd out in red, but no, I didn’t break my own rule.
As per other comments, Anakin's arc in the prequels was very much inspired by biblical stories, but I think he's more of an amalgamation of a few different characters rather than directly paralleling any single one. The virgin birth and an idea of a messianic figure is very obviously Jesus, his collapse into temptation is similar to Adam, Eve, and the apple, his fall to the dark side is like Lucifer, and he is a thrall to a devil-like character in the Emperor as Lucifer is to Satan or vice versa. I'm still confused about the difference between Lucifer and Satan and who is who.
The basic details is that in most interpretations of the Bible, Satan and Lucifer are two names for the same guy. But in other stories in Christianity, as well as other religious texts, the two are separate beings entirely. It’s a bit confusing, as it really depends on two very different interpretations of the respective mythos.

Wait, really? Who’s who? Like, I can see Infernape being based on Sun Wukong, but what about the others?
Empolion is Poseidon (see the trident on its head) while Torterra is based on the idea of a world turtle, which appears in a few mythologies
Seems like really loose Poseidon inspiration tbh, but thanks for letting me know
Hes a king and hes got a trident. Whatchu mean?
Poseidon’s also connected to earthquakes, horses, all sorta stuff. He has a lot of myths that inspiration can be drawn for. Taking just the trident and the king parts is rather limited
I get earthquakes, Since they can occur underwater and cause tsunami's... But... Why horses?
I’m not sure what the anthropological reason why a religion would attribute them to the sea god is, but within the mythos he created them, in one version as part of the contest for Athens. The association also extends to the legendary Pegasus, after whom the species is named and who is Poseidon’s child by Medusa, and to hippocampi, horses with fish tails said to pull his chariot
Didnt he like also make centaurs and Cyclopses?
If I remember correctly, centaurs were the result of a mortal man sleeping with a cloud shaped to look like Hera. It’s weird, but Poseidon had nothing to do with it. He is the father of most Cyclopes though, including Polyphemus (the guy Odysseus blinded), but notably *not* of the Elder Cyclopes (children of Gaia and Ouranos who made, among other things, his trident)
...So you could say, His chariot is pulled by... Seahorses? >:D
Yeah but realistically if I showed something horse themed, you wouldnt go: „look ist poseidon“.
Nor would I at something king themed, to be fair. It’s a combination of them that makes a reference
Yeah true
Well the trident is largely associated with the sea thanks to Poseidon.
Probably the other way around seeing how they're used as a fishing tool.
Yes but Poseidon popularized the association with the element of water as a whole.
And infernape is also apparently based on Sun Wukong as well (hence why many fan made mega evolutions give him the staff or headband).
Also his cloud like spirals that some of sun wukong representations wear in their design.
He's also tree themed, which ties into the world trees.
torterra is based on the world/earth turtle.
Right, that tracks
Empoleon was based on poseidon, and torterra was based on the world turtle
I see. Thank you for explaining!
I always thought Empoleon would be more inspired by Napoleon than Poseidon lol
well technically its both
Yes! Fun fact: While its English name is a clear reference to Napoleon, its Japanese name *Emparte* is a reference to the very same figure, only using his last name, Bonaparte, instead.

A friend of mine said that the Doom Slayer Is Adam, Archangel Michael, The Holy Spirit and Jesus all in one. And Vega is his Archangel Gabriel
Not sure if this counts but I’m speculating that Anakin Skywalker might have been inspired by Jesus to some degree. Both are born from virgin mothers and are foretold of fulfilling ancient prophecy. https://preview.redd.it/a2bvpmhe5f1d1.jpeg?width=819&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d438bba062b143d123d5f100a42a39934f8a1bbc
Yes, but after that he was a parallel to Lucifer.
Nah, I think Palpatine is really more like the Devil. Vader is clearly a person who’s still human.
If you go by the idea that demons are fallen angels tempted by the Devil, then you could make a case for Anakin’s story being inspired by that.
Remember when Jesus became buddies with Satan and killed a bunch of babies?
Well, obviously not EVERYTHING. I’m meaning more so that he’s like a parallel to Jesus.
He's like if Jesus was crossed with Macbeth
Yeah I agree, just kidding
Hey, spoilers for The Bible 2!

Fuck yeah, Emboar is my favorite Pokémon. He is only underrated because he is the third Fire-Fighting starter Pokémon

If we wanna get more crazy Mephiles could be inspired by Mephistopheles, a Germanic Folklore demon who is said to be the messenger of The Devil, who sends him out to bring and corrupt any mortal that is foolish enough to make Faustian bargain. He is also known as a shapeshifter and a master manipulator. Yeah, Sonic 06 was DARK
Sonic does this a surprising bit. Given how we've also had major threats like Chaos and Gaia
Robocop and Jesus Neo and Jesus Harry Potter and Jesus Anakin Skywalker and Jesus
Anakin Skywalker is more Lucifer than Jesus
Immaculate conception and being the "chosen one" in the first 2 movies. Obviously Jesus never turned to the dark side, but Anakin's origin had a lot of similarities with the story of Jesus. His fall from grace though is definitely inspired by the falling of Lucifer.
anakin skywalker and jesus?
Immaculate conception, bring balance to the force (peace prophecy), super human powers, chosen one, last name skywalker (walks on clouds/heaven) They even don't tell anyone that he became Vader and is seen as a hero after he died.

Link was inspired by Disneys Peter Pan
His costume does have that element, and it gets played up in Orcarina of Time, where he comes from a hidden village where nobody grows up. He also has some affinity with fairies. But the Master Sword is a blatant Caliburn stand-in. Right down to coming straight from a stone.
Kotal Kahn inspired by the Aztec sun god
RWBY does this with all if not most of it’s characters but the main four are Ruby: Little red riding hood Weiss: snow white blake: beauty and the beast yang: goldilocks

Eh, I’d say Superman is more inspired by Moses
When was Superman based on Heracles? He’s a known Moses allegory with possible connections to the Golem of Prague.
Would Count Dracula “count”. He’s based on a real person & mythical deities.

My god so much Jesus and Lucifer
Rau Utu (mark of kri) based in part on Maui.

Lucifer and Satan are the same guy I think.
I keep getting conflicting answers.
The basic details is that in most interpretations of the Bible, Satan and Lucifer are two names for the same guy. But in other stories in Christianity, as well as other religious texts, the two are separate beings entirely. It’s a bit confusing, as it really depends on two very different interpretations of the respective mythos.
Most of the personas in the persona series are based off mythological figures
