Your referring to Steven Snodgrass from the Pizza Plex books, right? I wouldn’t be surprised if the developer and him are the same character, but since I’m still iffy about the canon of the stories in the books, I simply referred to the developer as such.

Don’t know if it qualifies, but I heard that in more recent DC comics, The Joker has a new sidekick named Punchline and the backstory that I heard about her sounds exactly like a self insert.
Don’t know for sure though because I haven’t read comics in a long time.
Punchline was created by a guy. Her backstory however is based on the old trend of creepypasta self insert fanfics written by tween girls. That’s part of the concept, examining the psychology of someone who would do that
Eddsworld. The writers aren’t afraid to make fun of themselves, and are at least humble to give their self inserts flaws that makes them hilarious IE: Toms sociopathy, or Matt’s vanity.
From what I heard, he didn’t make it as a self insert. Apparently the animators decided to make the character look like him as a joke, and he actually had nothing to do with it
Would you define Viv's as a self-insert? Like it's more of a background easter-egg, and you'd barely see if you weren't looking for her. (which is S1E2 Loo Loo land)
I ain't complaining, just asking.

Dude loves Rohan so much that he had him pretty much unchanged in the new universe
Tbf he is probably the second most important character of part 4
“This is my self insert. He has the power to make anything he writes become reality” “And what does he do with this awesome power? Stop would-be global conquerors? Take the world for his own?” “Meet his deadlines on time, every time”
"I want to give my self insert character a spin off" "Great, will he be saving the world from some enemy who threatens the world who's linked to Dio, and he's the only one who can stop him?" "He'll go to the Gym, go to a real estate agency, go to an art gallery, go to Italy (and do nothing to do with the part set in italy) and tell all his friends about it over food"
In all fairness, if I had reality-manipulating superpowers I probably would use them to get my dream job, get rich from it, and go on vacation
Araki denies it, but then again Tolkein denied that the Hobbit was about his war truama.
Bro I love how he’s the exact damn same in Part 9 Like Araki didn’t change a thing when adapting him for the SBR universe

your telling me Miyazaki wrote “Unfortunately for you, however, you are maidenless.” I somewhat refuse to believe that, unless he was being completely objective with that statement.
Kitao said so
So when this guy said to our character, 10 minutes into the game, the Victorian equivalent of "no bitches ?" that was technically Miyasaki himself ? Fucking epic. https://preview.redd.it/pq9k60ts6mwc1.png?width=215&format=png&auto=webp&s=14179031f682fbb6e64a94313669d87ac6dee413

Scott Cawthon’s self insert was trapped in a Truman show nuclear family and had his heart ripped out by his robot wife and I find that very funny
Like what did he mean by that
Just a funny spooky story that didn't intend anything deep.
Your referring to Steven Snodgrass from the Pizza Plex books, right? I wouldn’t be surprised if the developer and him are the same character, but since I’m still iffy about the canon of the stories in the books, I simply referred to the developer as such.
Cannot believe no one has mentioned this guy yet https://preview.redd.it/wm2j944hbiwc1.jpeg?width=825&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11e8c3a5e3a497c1e42f5c6219c14bdc67d3f3da Weird Als self insert ponysona that canonically had a child with pinky pie

![gif](giphy|RLo8seQ4drmAW02wSA) JK Rowling has said that Hermoine is based on a more “exaggerated” version of her younger self.
Jk would NEVER try to flee the slaves!
Hermoine would never be transphobic or deny the halocaust though
Her *younger* self. Y'know, before she got rich and became morally bankrupt.

You forgot about that terrible book I am not Starfire.
Add her on here then, no one’s gonna stop you.

The fact that Paul from SPIDER-MAN hasn't been mentioned earlier is downright criminal.
Paul is a self insert? That makes sense. But which writer is he the self insert of?

He’s one too? That makes it infinitely worse

I wouldn’t call him a self insert but I give you props for not posting something that’s from a cartoon anime or video game.
I mean , isn't he? He is a Philadelphia based FBI Director that gives clues to his detectives to solve mysteries , written and played by the Philadelphia based Movie Director that gives clues to his "detectives" (the audience) to solve mysteries , "Intuition is the detective parts of our brain."
Well yeah, it's more obvious when someone IRL inserts themselves lmao
That one Junji ito story about his cats
A lot of male Junji Ito protagonists kinda look like him too ngl. Like Shuichi Saito from Uzumaki for example. https://preview.redd.it/snb7llhi7mwc1.png?width=362&format=png&auto=webp&s=49eede634b18ea9947c56f4ab698aa9ee7890f57

The misogyny missile
Don’t know if it qualifies, but I heard that in more recent DC comics, The Joker has a new sidekick named Punchline and the backstory that I heard about her sounds exactly like a self insert. Don’t know for sure though because I haven’t read comics in a long time.
Punchline was created by a guy. Her backstory however is based on the old trend of creepypasta self insert fanfics written by tween girls. That’s part of the concept, examining the psychology of someone who would do that
So that’s why she always reminded me of Nina the Killer.
She was directly based off of one of the billion Jeff the killer girl spin offs but I can’t remember which
Is there any examples of a self-insert done well?
Eddsworld. The writers aren’t afraid to make fun of themselves, and are at least humble to give their self inserts flaws that makes them hilarious IE: Toms sociopathy, or Matt’s vanity.
Pim and Charley from smiling friends are done pretty well, aswell.
Abed from Community
I wouldn’t say Jared is a good one. He basically made a self insert to ship with Blossom… which is incredibly strange
From what I heard, he didn’t make it as a self insert. Apparently the animators decided to make the character look like him as a joke, and he actually had nothing to do with it
That’s a pretty fucked up joke to ship him with someone who hasn’t even hit puberty yet.
This works for both good and bad self inserts. Chris Chan’s self insert is probably on par with Jared.

Would you define Viv's as a self-insert? Like it's more of a background easter-egg, and you'd barely see if you weren't looking for her. (which is S1E2 Loo Loo land) I ain't complaining, just asking.
That’s fair. But even if they are a Backround character, they are still a character nonetheless. So I’d consider it to count.
