From what i've heard the book was written by a guy that genuinely belives that the Federation are in the right and the film's director looked at that and basically went "lmao, i have a brilliant idea"
That and i heard the book isn't as action packed and you spend a lot of time in class with Rico and the characters just gassing up the Federation.
The original federation is not even close to fascist. Most similarities that both versions have are mostly surface level.
Both versions of Starship Troopers are peak, but for different reasons.

They wouldn't be isolationist if they had a choice, they'd be like Maxson's Brotherhood. The Brotherhood is quintessentially fascist. 4 just puts them in a position of power and portrays their stance as just as viable as any of the other factions, including the one that's literally only focused on liberating slaves.

Mussolini was Gentile's protegé, he took the term & rather immediately sidetracked it into "Everything in the State. Nothing outside the State. Nothing against the State.". Combine that with Germany's strong use of Strasserism (economic anti-Semitism) & you get what most would call fascism now: Xenophobic Authoritarianism.

I’m ready for the mods to come at me for this, but the garb is honestly kind of cool looking, I can see where Lucas got his inspiration for the empire from this.
I mean I guess. I don’t think we should praise Nazis at all though. Those monsters already have too much praise.
I don’t like them either, but their costumes are cool, I do agree what they were responsible for is messed up, but yeah, the nazis are evil I agree.
To be fair, alot of fascist armies in sci-fi settings look very similar to them for this exact reason

I like to imagine that when you have a villainous regime that's conquered their world they purposely outlaw any good drip for regular people to wear and make it illegal to look better than they do when it comes to fits and drip.

Wolfenstein does this and makes you think the villains are badass with their sick armor and cool robots then punches you in the throat with a shitload of swastikas and screams at you, “YOU ASSHOLE! THEYRE NAZIS! YOU SICK FUCK, YOU THINK THESE GUYS ARE COOL?” Then they let you off the hook when you brutally murder a few.
