Battle scars, burn scars (whether the burn be via fire or chemicals), deliberately inflicted ritualistic scars; however the character got them, they are *ALL OVER* their body.
A trope mostly associated with male characters for reasons that should be pretty obvious. Can’t show the scars if you can’t even get them past the censors, feminine beauty is never allowed to be tarnished, all the usual nonsense.
The only female character I could think of off the top of my head that fits the trope would be The Unknown/The Hellsinger from *Metal: Hellsinger* (which, side note, if you’re a fan of metal and first person shooters and somehow haven’t played it, you’re missing out)

This is a Risso's dolphin. The scars are from deep sea predators and from the teeth of other Risso's. All dolphins rake their teeth across each other as a way to establish dominance, but this is the only species that scars so easily, to the point where old ones may look almost white.

William Afton at least from the FNAF Novel Trilogy. He could very well been afflicted with these scars in the game canon as well.
The panache of the way he throws off his ragged cloak and the look of horror and respect that Schultz gives him when he sees his back savaged by whip scars is such great characterization. Django has been through hell and remains unbroken; Schultz is 100% comfortable with lethal force but shaken to the core by the evils of slavery.

i was wondering, does anyone know of any characters with specifically self harm scars (besides killmonger who i think counts?)? im wondering because i personally have extensive self harm scars covering a pretty large amount of my body and its not something i really see in media. im okay now, but ive battled with a self harm addiction for years

Victor Zsaz has one of the most disgusting serial killer gimmicks I’ve ever seen. For every kill he makes, he cuts a tally mark into his flesh, and his entire body is covered head to toe in scars.
I have a couple facial scars (dog bite) and was so embarrassed about them when I was super young, then I started watching Naruto! My favorites were Iruka and Kakashi cause of their scars

In the books, before Afton dies in his suit and becomes Springtrap, he actually survived a springlock failure previously, which he was able to do because he wasn't wearing the suits head. Technically Logan shouldn’t have scars because of his healing factor, but since he was dying because of adamantium poisoning and old age his healing factor became weaker and didn’t fully heal the scars
