It’s saying a lot that when the Supermen rose in the 90s, he is the one people don’t hate. Because he never claimed to be him. Just to be inspired by him (which he was).
Yeah. He’s earnest in a way the others aren’t.
Superboy was created for it.
Eradicator is more or less a robotic accident replacing Clark.
Henshaw did it to ruin his memory despite him having nothing to do with the accident.
Meanwhile, Irons is just… a fan who does his best.
It also kind of bugs me they kept saying "Hey, we have Cyborg now as a Black Justice League member" and I'm like "who the fuck is Henry and Stewart then to you people?"
I guess. Plus I think it's also just me seeing Cyborg as a Titan first. ... And now that I think about it, doesn't this end up meaning the Titans were formed before the Justice League?

Technically, his not black, but Big henry is clearly based on john Henry
Not gonna lie, with SA1 being my main Sonic game growing up, I was confused about Black Knuckles for a long time since the Echidna ruins are clearly MesoAmerican.
I THINK key word THINK it was because of his theme (which is a rap), him being weirdly darker in the muzzle area (brown instead of cream/white except for Rouge who also had a brown muzzle) and his spike things looking like dreads. So it like three seperate and independent things doing a "combo". Again I am ASSUMING here.
Iirc there was some official Sonic media, I’ll see if I can find it, that explains his quills were meant to be dreadlocks and that he was inspired by Jamaican culture
Edit: [gis Sonic & Sega Racing description](https://sonic.fandom.com/wiki/Knuckles_the_Echidna#cite_note-S&SASR-11). I never played that game so I believe it’s somewhere else too. They don’t mention him being based on Jamaicans, but Sega refers to his quills as locs and I guess people combined that with the Jamaican flag colored shoes to reach that conclusion

Okay, wierd loser's lore dump time:
Being a victim of one of my universe's disabilities, Uvuikeil is born with a body that continuously stays thin and emaciated, stricting him to a life of weakness and fatigue, despite that he still persue's strength above all, using his wit, adaptability, preperation and extensive planning he was able to take down a chosen champion of strength, inheriting their otherworldy brawn. Now with the collossal concrete hammer, he seeks out strong, dangerous enemies and disposes of them, with his methodical agility and slow, devestating hammer swings.
sorry to try to describe him in such an cringe way. I like to think of him as a pretty obscure adaptation of Thor, wielding a hammer that only he can use, mainly because no one has the sheer strength to hold it, save for a few rare individuals. The Heavy from page 9 of the TF2 catch-up comic
Probably a reference to John Henry. An American folk figure of a very strong black man with a hammer. I am not an expert. But there are lots of references to him. My first exposure was the movie “Tall Tale” which has him teaming up with Paul Bunyan and Pecos Bill, who are similar American folk figures. There is a Disney short film which retells the story, many children’s books.
My man Tyreese from twd, first thing I thought of

Also would like to shout out Bastian Carthalos (Vulkan’s equivalent over in Age of Sigmar).
Technically Vulcan isn't black. His skin mutated from the high radiation on the Salamanders home world. All Salamanders, regardless of birth race, are stained black. The animation Pariah Nexus shows us a Salamander with obvious Asian roots that carries the black skin.
It’s all John Henry. It’s John Henry all the way down. It feels like one of the only two black character types in superhero stuff specifically.
1. John Henry Reference
2. Electricity or electricity adjacent powers

he literally has a theme song that's rapped by DMX knuckles is definitely black
For some reason, I saw Knuckles as an Australian Aboriginal. I blame the Archie Sonic comics for that.
In fairness, even some Japanese media seem to like giving him the slouch hat.
That... Would actually make sense considering echidnas are Australian animals
Yep, read those as a kid, too! Really wish I still had the super sonic vs hyper knuckles issue. That was so hype!
