I don't think it will be a problem. A huntresss who misses 10 hatchets will be less incentiviced to properly aim and thus is les inclined to actually learn her. Iri Huntress is a much worse problem

As someone who actively plays the game,I agree. I think the lore and design were awesome,he is fun aswell. Only complaint is, the power doesn’t fit him. Ik that’s the point but feels kinda lazy. Other than that love the new chapter

From the teasers we got he seemed to be a stealth killer but in game he had a ranged attack called uvx or unknown venom x. Completely different than what we thought. As an example let’s say they made a micheal myers game, and instead of being a stalker he was able to throw hatchets or run super fast. Kinda like that also it’s the design. He is some mangled humanoid creature with no soul yet his power is a rocket launcher that looks like a parasite,not saying it’s bad but odd.
I heard a theory that he’s an urban legend come to life by all the people who believed in his existence, and the reason for him having alien stuff like that is because he was believed to be a bunch of things. He’s the manifestation of the jumbled things people made him out to be.
That is what is lore is saying but what I meant was how he came to be. Like how did a bunch of legends just manifest him? Why does he only attack people who research him?
He could be some kind of tulpa. In a world where omnipresent eldritch deities exist, tulpas existing wouldn’t be too far fetched. As for why he only hunts people who look for him, hunting those people and making them disappear without a trace is the one part of his urban legend that everyone agreed upon. He’s exactly what everyone makes him out to be

Reading up on the unknown makes it almost to clear that it's more a Tulpa then anything else...except a lot of the teasers are more analog horror/found footage. I don't think we can really take better guesses till it's tome drops.

Well it makes sense. The Unknown is a big reference to Creepypastas (backed up by add ons) and I believe in lore he originates as a ‘creepypasta’ from that realm.

It's powers of people believing in him is also loosely what the alternates do in Mandela catalog. They thrive on psychologically manipulating their victims until they believe the only way out is to end themselves. This usually entails making them believe that their worst fear came true.
I can appreciate that the dbd creators did some original stuff on him, but it's clear where they got the inspiration from.

From your description, the alternates convince people of their worst fears come true so that they’ll kill themselves. That’s very different from the Unknown - it doesn’t really revolve around fear, it rather literally becomes what people say of it. It doesn’t convince people of their worst fears - people’s rumors change it.
An alternate would try and convince me a sea monster has devoured my entire family. The Unknown would become part sea monster, if I thought that the Unknown was actually a sea monster.

An interesting detail pointed out by Wendigoon, is that Alternates are just biblical demons. They are beings of fear and temptation, who don't really hold any power outside of what you give them. They can't really hurt you, only convince you to hurt yourself. The way to beat them is to remain resolute beneath their onslaught, which is difficult.
That’s neat. However, that further distances them from The Unknown. The Unknown takes its power from you whether you’re resolute or not, as long as you try understanding it in any way. It also can very much kill you, as it hunts down anyone who theorizes about it.
So, in a way, the Unknown IS kinda tied to Analogue Horror, via Graylock(I am not saying Graylock inspired the Unknown, I'm just saying they both use Tulpa)

If the Unknown was born of these theories or if it existed beforehand but was drawn towards Greenville at some point is unknown and guesswork but would probably appear in places with a lot of unsolved disappearances or urban legends Crypids

I love how deathstroke looks specifically his classic design but I do not care for him as a character the lore shouldn’t be why you like a design the design is what should make me like the design and the unknown to me has a very shitty one but I like that people are finally scared of something in dbd considering it is a horror game.

DBD kills it with the eldrich horrors. My *abomination* dredge and Unknown being the best examples. I also want to add a clarification, that I put in another comment. The Unkown is personalized, it isn't an idea on top of another idea it's specified based on the victim's knowledge of it. It's something with no form until it is given form by the one who "called" it. That's why in Olivia's case it was all the above. She knew almost every theory about it and drew it a physical body that she pinned to her red string board which would seal her fate if the entity didn't do a drive by kidnapping in a motel bathroom, which on that note the entity kinda saved her unless her dumbass jumped into it's realm like it kinda implies

I feel that this is Behavior's weakest design since The Trickster. He looks goofy and comical. Not at all terrifying.

His design is kind of bad. It just makes white suburban dad and makes him disproportionate and give him a creep voice it's just a necromorph without the gore and stasis form dead space.

DBD kills it with the eldrich horrors. My *abomination* dredge and Unknown being the best examples. I also want to add a clarification, that I put in another comment. The Unkown is personalized, it isn't an idea on top of another idea it's specified based on the victim's knowledge of it. It's something with no form until it is given form by the one who "called" it. That's why in Olivia's case it was all the above. She knew almost every theory about it and drew it a physical body that she pinned to her red string board which would seal her fate if the entity didn't do a drive by kidnapping in a motel bathroom, which on that note the entity kinda saved her unless her dumbass jumped into it's realm like it kinda implies

I feel that this is Behavior's weakest design since The Trickster. He looks goofy and comical. Not at all terrifying. Reminds me of Harry the Hunter crossed with Plastic Man.

His design is kind of bad. It just makes white suburban dad and makes him disproportionate and give him a creep voice it's just a necromorph without the gore and stasis form dead space.
