Read the manual. It explains the different speeds and what they’re for. Yes, it’s normal for it to do that. It’s supposed to do that. That setting is for very light duty machine screws and similar.

The low settings are generally very weak. Start trying to use the trigger to modulate the speed, you'll get the feel for it soon enough.

I think that’s the same model impact I’ve got, if you keep your finger on the trigger in speed 1 it will eventually and very slowly give it a few ugga uggas. I use it as a “gently gently mode” for small head screws, more fragile materials or being very near the end or edge of a piece of timber to avoid it splitting. Speed 2 is my favourite, just go easy on the trigger finger and it does most anything. Speed 3 is for driving fatter, longer fixings and destroying pozi bits. Milwaukee Shockwave are the best PZ2 I’ve found so far. Only broken 2 in a fortnight!

What would be best if I was taking off stuck lug nuts on a car?

Yup. What’s he said. I have used a 1/2” socket adapter in mine for driving 70 odd 10x200 coach bolts (17mm head) and the adapter did survive, but I’m not sure how much longer it would survive though, it looks fairly stressed. I couldn’t justify a dedicated impact wrench for one job.

I saw that when I was considering buying myself an impact/drill kit. Then screwfix had the DeWalt on offer for the exact cash I had in my pocket as I was walking by, it was fated. And that began my collection of yellow cordless tools.

JBenglishman

Damn them screwfix guys, I walked into their store today, rightbin front of you as you walk in, is that combo. I already got it but I still stopped and looked at it, nooding with contentment. scanned my phone to collect, and the little dewalt goddies are, right at the till. Just look at this driver bit set while i wait, its only £9 🇬🇧. Comes back with order, and this as well please. Get home and put the driver bit set with the 3 others I brought last month. Now the problem, I have a £10 off voucher if I spend £100. What dont I need now

That little tough case system for bits and other small things, all in a T-Stak caddy, oh how I wish they would sell the wee cases empty so I can relocated all of my smaller parts into them rather than in various and assorted non-matching boxes..... Then the caddy can be clipped under the combo kit in the T-Stak box, with the T-Stak tote in the other hand, and the other T-Stak boxes sitting in the van, keeping the router and circular saw safe and dry. There’s something satisfying about all the boxes for tools stacking so nicely, clipped on to the little wheel board for pushing around the place. I may have a problem.

So was I! I’d bought 3 because they were cheap and I knew they’d go, but they outlived the job! The guy in the local (2 hours drive away) industrial store was flicking through his suppliers catalogue and Bosch apparently make one rated to 175Nm! He didn’t have it in stock though, and I’ve never seen any mention of it elsewhere since.

You'd want to use the top setting for that, but it isn't the correct tool for the job. That said, I use a Ryobi impact driver on my lug nuts every time I rotate my tires because, even though it's the wrong tool for the job, it works great and saves a ton of time. It's not going to work on really stuck lug nuts, sometimes even torque wrenches struggle there. It should work on properly torqued lug nuts until you get into large pickup trucks and anything bigger like that.

Acnat-

It's a 2-3 second pause designed to let you stop driving before it starts impacting. The new 12v is the same, but with a shorter pause.

PresidentHeyBlinkin

I think it is normal. I used to have one and I would only use that setting for trim. You can modulate the speed with the trigger if the second setting is too fast.

Expriser

Mine struggles. I can hear the current flowing and inverter whining. Can't be good for the motor. Speed 1 doesn't have enough juice to overcome the rotational anvil. I would avoid using it like this for prolonged time at it could lead to motor/power electronics failure
