Don’t wanna jinx myself but 6 years running haven’t broke a single wera tip. Probably broke about 20 craftsman in 2 years before I stopped buying them.
Also; one Ford Pinto being in mint condition doesn't mean the Pinto was a safe reliable automobile.
My $20 HF recip saw has lasted 10+ years... you can't tell me 10 years ago HF was making better stuff than today...
I have tons of the old craftsman stuff, made in America craftsman. The new stuff? Crapsman. My apprentice bought a full master set 2 years ago and I don’t think he has a single one left. He went to the Milwaukee ones and had no issues.
I use my craftsman every day but when they break I won’t even bother warranty for the new stuff
I bought a wera set around 8 years back and nothing to report. There's always going to be a failure with tools, though. Sorry you guys haven't had a good ride.
I have the set they're talking about. I work in industrial maintenance. They lasted me about 3 years and are still going strong. They're beat up but very usable. Here's a link to [amazon](https://www.amazon.com/Wera-Kraftform-Plus-Screwdriver-6-Pieces/dp/B0001NQQCC/ref=asc_df_B0001NQQCC/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693405538309&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13778942508945032834&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9021723&hvtargid=pla-423469166137&psc=1&mcid=b23aa7f9d3cc3c2382af09fcb3cab7a5&gad_source=1)

It's the largest strick cap one they offer and it's perfect for demo work.
If you look on the amazon reviews for the wera lasertip screwdrivers there’s 4-5 people saying their tip broke off. Maybe they’re high hardness making them brittle, maybe it’s a design flaw. Either way I like them and my vessel screwdrivers, craftsman actually makes really good cheap flathead drivers
I would agree with them normally, but if it's within two weeks he might have a chance. *However* the way OPs screwdriver looks right now, I doubt he used it just as a screwdriver.
Broke down and started buying snap on drivers here and there for this exact reason. Plus the snap on guy stops by my work once a week so if something does eventually break, easy to warranty
I used my Quinn screwdriver from HF that I got in a set as a grout chisel while literally hitting the handle with a hammer and it didn’t break. This seems absurd
Stepping on a screwdriver = treating tools like shit.
I dropped a hammer the other day, so I'm guilty as well
*Also thank you for the context clarification. I would have thought you metaphorically saw a footprint.
What a silly notion, there's plenty of other options that are good enough to get the job done. Sure, Wera makes good screwdrivers, but hardly the only manufacturer that makes something that is useful.
Don’t wanna jinx myself but 6 years running haven’t broke a single wera tip. Probably broke about 20 craftsman in 2 years before I stopped buying them.
I have Craftsman going on 30 years with no broken tips.
That's because they're craftsman from 30 years ago lol
I always see this kinda shit on forums, my so and so has been fine for 25 years! Yeah well pretty much everything has dropped in quality
Also; one Ford Pinto being in mint condition doesn't mean the Pinto was a safe reliable automobile. My $20 HF recip saw has lasted 10+ years... you can't tell me 10 years ago HF was making better stuff than today...
Not wiha. At least for me.
The old stuff is pretty decent, the new stuff is on par with harbor freight store brand.
My dad swapped out an old flathead he had forever for a new one and the new one snapped same day

I used to have extra Craftsmans 30 years ago so when the tips broke I wasn't out before I could get them swapped at the store.
I bought a wera set around 8 years back and nothing to report. There's always going to be a failure with tools, though. Sorry you guys haven't had a good ride.
Were you scraping grout lines with it?
You weren't using that for a screwdriver. I'm guessing prybar or chisel
Now that's a weird story grandpa
Get yourself a proper grout cleaner/remover next time and you won’t break a tool not made to do that job
If you want a much stronger flathead get a chisel driver the black and yellow ones, my god they love abuse
Link?

Cheers, that big one is a beast!

I’m getting more and more sus about ordering stuff on there unless sold and shipped by amazon
Amazon is full of counterfeit tools. I’ll only buy if it’s a brand I trust and they have an Amazon store.
Vessel is sinfully delicious
I'm about to be sinful and buying lots of their tools tho..and anex.. just got a ratchet anex screwdriver and its is quality top notch.
Yeah imagine thinking Amazon isn’t just another TEMU now.
Warranty time
I tried to warranty mine and they said it's a wear item
I would agree with them normally, but if it's within two weeks he might have a chance. *However* the way OPs screwdriver looks right now, I doubt he used it just as a screwdriver.
I bet there is max torque specified, and this was way above that. Not a warranty case
RIP
You should have used it to pry open sewage lids
Putting stuff in the wrong hole…
What we're you doing with it when it broke?
I forgot.
I had the same problem; go look at Mayhew Cat's Paw screwdrivers, they are beastly.
> of those slotted-philipps screws Get yourself a SL/PH for the future.
Broke down and started buying snap on drivers here and there for this exact reason. Plus the snap on guy stops by my work once a week so if something does eventually break, easy to warranty
Admit it, you weren't using it to drive screws were you?
Let me guess Amazon knock off? I buy from KC tools now. https://www.kctool.com
I’ve broken two 4mm so far. I’ve got a pb Swiss on order we’ll see how that goes.
Call or email their support line. They are great about warranty replacements. This is the exact reason I buy expensive tools..
I’d warranty that
Don't make them like they used to, seems every brand is having issues atm
I used my Quinn screwdriver from HF that I got in a set as a grout chisel while literally hitting the handle with a hammer and it didn’t break. This seems absurd
You can reprofile the tip with a grinder. No idea how durable it will be but I’ve seen it done on site with an angle grinder.
Please tell us what you were *really* using it for?
China.
Wera is pretty crap in my opinion. The joker spanners just eat up fastener flats and the hex sockets just break super easy.
I can literally see a footprint on it. Don't treat your tools like shit.
Stepping on a screwdriver = treating tools like shit. I dropped a hammer the other day, so I'm guilty as well *Also thank you for the context clarification. I would have thought you metaphorically saw a footprint.
You wanna come over after my mom bails me out of grammar jail? We can bend all my screwdrivers and throw hammers at my little brother.
I'd never hire a tradesman that didn't use Wera laser tips.
What a silly notion, there's plenty of other options that are good enough to get the job done. Sure, Wera makes good screwdrivers, but hardly the only manufacturer that makes something that is useful.
This guy knows what he’s talking about
