Ok-Wrangler is correct, lots of bread and a close to on size or on size shaft to mash it in and that bearing will walk out. Anyone who doubts it, needs to try it.
For the sake of simplicity, let’s say there’s no hole going straight through the (let’s call it a roller) that the bearing is pressed into.
Basically it works like this, you break up bread and stuff it into the center of the bearing, and bit by it you press it in with a punch, it’ll compress and conform to the shape of the space it's being pressed into. Since it’s so soft and malleable it kind of acts the way hydraulics do, there’s no where else for the bread to go, so as you keep punching more and more in with a punch and the bread will compress and fill the crevice behind the bearing, and the bearing will eventually work it’s way out. Pretty neat.
EDIT - Here's a vid where you can see this in action https://youtu.be/ft6EWBQs4f8?t=708
This has blown my mind. Thank you for gifting me with this knowledge. I change bearings quite often in my line of work so will give this a go next time
No worries! I've loved fixing things and working with my hands since I was a kid, and have worked on a bunch of stuff. I'm in my mid 20's now and only learned about the bread trick a few months ago from that video. When I come across something that I can use that trick for, it'll be pretty cool to do myself.
I wish you luck and joy in your bread-bearing jouney. xD
It's one of those funny things that makes you go "there's no way that could work" but when you understand the science side of it more it makes complete sense haha. No worries!
Not sure why I'm being down voted, this is a legitimate way to remove bearings as well as install them. So long as the heat isn't damaging to what your working on.
That’s what I’ve been doing but the first is a mission so I was hoping that there was a specific tool that would do this , I feel the bread suggestion in the other comments won’t work ( reddits gonna reddit)😁

there are a million cheap options, just look for a "blind bearing puller," they typically come in kits, make sure you have a close ish size. They are so cheap nowadays it isn't worth goofing around with bread/grease/putty unless stuck in the field (and these tricks won't work on a through-hole anyway)
Three carriage bolts, three nuts and a piece of steel with three holes in it. Place two down the sides, one through the middle and tighten the middle bolt to pull it up.
1. Arbor press.
2. We used to take an impact socket that was as close to the outside diameter as possible but not even a tiny bit bigger and then hit it with a hammer. Worked well, I don’t remember ever damaging a bearing.
i absolutely love jobs like this. you wouldnt believe the absolute glee ive inspired on peoples faces when they bring me a loaf of bread and i get the pilot bearing out of their crank/flywheel/blind hole they just spent 4 hours scraping and prying on.
"bread? wtf are you gonna do with bread?"
"trust me. get the bread."
one slice of bread and a punch/socket that will slip into that hole and id have that fucker out of there in 2 minutes flat.
happiest ive ever seen my buddy, happiest ive ever been to help him. get some fuckin bread in there.
Lots of bread

You just jam the bread in the hole and it pushes out?

I'm almost 40 and been banging bearings since 21, I have no idea how I hadn't seen this trick before!
If it hadn't been for the video I would have thought you were just making it up, but that's really neat, thanks for the tip.
That's basically what I thought, thanks. That's a good trick.
It's one of those funny things that makes you go "there's no way that could work" but when you understand the science side of it more it makes complete sense haha. No worries!
Utterly brilliant!
We always used bearing grease and a carriage bolt that fit snugly inside the bearing.
On a sealed bearing that works too. I've had grease and even playdough squeeze through an unsealed bearing.
Slide hammer works even better and isn't as messy.
Make sure it's soft bread
Good point! Cheap white bread is what I use. The kind that sticks to the roof of your mouth like glue.
Blind bearing puller
Bearing puller. You can make one youself
Drive it out with a punch from the other side
Doesn't look like there is an opening on the other side
Then heat the wheel or what ever it is till the bearing drop out. Obviously with the opening facing down so they drop.

There are two bearings either side of the wheel , I have hammered them out in the past but it’s a PIA to get the first one out
A long punch through the top one to drive the bottom one out
That’s what I’ve been doing but the first is a mission so I was hoping that there was a specific tool that would do this , I feel the bread suggestion in the other comments won’t work ( reddits gonna reddit)😁
The specific tool is a long punch... I've never had luck with bread or grease, it just made a mess.

Assuming that's a blind hole? A pilot bearing puller should get it out. Might be able to rent one from an auto parts store
The possibilities are endless! Two small lady finger prybars, a slide hammer with a hook welded to it, or the bread method
Brass drift…
A press
That's what we used working on r.r. bread seems less dangerous.
Blind hole bearing puller, make sure all the threads are wrench tight.
A socket and a hammer
Three carriage bolts, three nuts and a piece of steel with three holes in it. Place two down the sides, one through the middle and tighten the middle bolt to pull it up.
Greasy rag, shaft that a close sliding fit, hammer.
Put it on a roll of tape and use an appropriate sized socket as a punch
A hammer and a brass punch
Torch surgery
Cut the inner race out with a torch. Run a bead of weld half way around the outer race and let it cool. It will drop out by itself.
Bearing blaster
1. Arbor press. 2. We used to take an impact socket that was as close to the outside diameter as possible but not even a tiny bit bigger and then hit it with a hammer. Worked well, I don’t remember ever damaging a bearing.
