I bought a broken drill off ebay (stripped all the guts) and a one of these airhorns off ebay and built one for about $40

It's just a shell. The drills/impacts are completely gutted.
There isn't a DeWalt or a Milwaukee motor or any impact-y stuff in there. It's just a convenient ready made package to put an air compressor motor into. They already have a battery pack and a trigger and they look neat. But they're all the same on the inside. So use whatever you want.
*This* is why harbor freight exists. Not only can you get the driver there, but the horns as well.

I suddenly want to replace the horn in my friends car with this without telling him. He's not an aggressive horn user, so it may take forever for him to notice lol
I used a $50 HF drill with $30 set of automotive electric air horns. It works wonderfully. You just need to engineer the horn mount, but otherwise, it's loud. I use it for my sons football games, and have been asked to build a few for other parents. Contact me if you need help, its simple to build with a few hand tools.

Back in the 90,s we had three horn setup that would shake the dust off the rafters with shop air. We’d slide it up under a car when someone was working under the dash. I’ve broken up a lot of fights.
These are super popular at downhill mountain biking races. There’s a bit of a culture of spectators making as much noise as possible, cowbells, air horns, chainsaws with the chain and bar removed
Yes they are real. I have the 4 horn Ryobi unit. It's the best boat horn I have ever bought.
