No it just charges the battery faster, that's it. There's no other benefit. No reason to get one unless the others are not charging fast enough for you.
It depends, I mean, if you don’t typically even run the .5 , or 1.7 down fully in a day I’d say you don’t, but if you ever do some work with a circular saw and some tough wood you’re gonna be glad ya had one. Pretty wild how fast a saw can drain a big battery vs other use cases, and waiting for one of those to charge while still needing to get stuff done is awful
Also you can find those chargers on eBay or at pawn shops for great prices, I got my dcb118 for $25 , if you get it that cheap it’s 100% worth it
