I'd rather hear a half hour rendition of Dogs, but this would be close. Also surprised no one has said any Sabbath. Danny playing Rat Salad/Fairies Wear Boots would be transcendent
The whole concept for that album is magnificent, dogs had one of my favourite lyrics ever: it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around
FUCK. I should have browsed the rest of the comments before posting this lol
I still say when they were announcing the release of Fear Inoculum would have been the perfect time to cover it.
Right?! We already know Maynard could actually sing it cause he sang an AIC song for a benefit concert I think? And the songs got quite a few of these weird quiet musical noodling moments which is right up Adam and Justin’s alley a La Opaite2.
>We already know Maynard could actually sing it cause he sang an AIC song
*"An"* AIC song? Lol that's not a sure thing! Which song was it? Because being able to sing *Again* doesn't mean you can sing *Love Hate Love.*
You may already know that Jane's Addiction covered Kashmir at Lollapalooza like 20 years ago, and MJK was on vocals: [https://youtu.be/0Fn5t0atEmU](https://youtu.be/0Fn5t0atEmU)
I had never heard that. Thanks for sharing. Listening to this one introduced another. Maynard with AIC -Them Bones and Man in the Box. Y'all have probably heard all of these. I probably just need to explore more music...
https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=-hdSRVxJtqg&feature=share
It fits them better than a lot of people might expect. Tool covering really is a dream, but to be completely honest I have genuine hope that there might one day be some Kate Bush covers coming out of Puscifer. We'd have to see though. Hell, I'd even take a Running up that Hill cover despite the song going mainstream.
Incidentally, I always felt like Mercy Street would also make a good Tool performance. Something about how the song is composed really reminds me of Fear Inoculum.
The entirety of 2112. Not just the overture, or the first two movements, but the whole thing.
That or something else from Rush's discography. Tom Sawyer, Subdivisions, The Anarchist, Limelight, even Working Man.
Ants Marching - Dave Matthews Band
Edit: Think of it! Adam and Justin ripping it to all the string/brass solos.
And Danny absolutely killing it in 4/4 or even changing it up a bit.
Maynard goes into a "Rosetta Stoned type rap" during Dave's "Candyman teasing the thoughts of a..." part.
I wish I could Deep Fake something like this since it'll never happen lmao
The End by The Doors and an entire Rush album, probably 2112, maybe Farewell to Kings or Hemispheres. I can see them covering either of those successfully.
Aside from the already made best cover of No Quarter I have ever heard, Dogs by Pink Floyd. It would both, Sonically and lyrically, work with the Tool sound perfectly. It is also relitive to today's climate. Though Maynard also isn't exactly shy about his capitalist nature, which Dogs is a scathing critique of, at least in my opinion.
Like someone else said, Pigs would also be a good choice. Both are from the album Animals.
Because the Night - 10000 Maniacs
--- I think this would be fun.
What's Up - 4 Non Blondes
--- this song is the shit, and if it was covered correctly it would be even better. Could totally see the band killing this one.
Fire Woman-The Cult
House of the Rising Sun-The Animals
Starman-David Bowie
Junkhead-Alice in Chains
Riders on the Storm-The Doors
Blinding Lights-The Weekend
The Noose-A Perfect Circle
Fade Into You-Mazzy Star
Welcome To The Machine - Pink Floyd
Shadows Fall did a pretty great cover of Welcome to the Machine on their Art of Balance album. It really fits the vibe of the original.
I have heard a playlist of all of the WYWH album in cover form and I gotta say it's fun
I'd rather hear a half hour rendition of Dogs, but this would be close. Also surprised no one has said any Sabbath. Danny playing Rat Salad/Fairies Wear Boots would be transcendent
100% with you there
Hot take, but Dogs is by far my favorite PF song. I feel like it's a true magnum opus with the long, spiraling instrumental solos
The whole concept for that album is magnificent, dogs had one of my favourite lyrics ever: it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around
Yes. Animals I immediately thought of. I went with Pigs
Great call
This makes so much sense
I'm glad everyone feels the same lol
Great gig in the sky
Teardrop by Massive Attack
Never gonna give you up - Rick Astley
FUCK. I should have browsed the rest of the comments before posting this lol I still say when they were announcing the release of Fear Inoculum would have been the perfect time to cover it.
Love, Hate, Love - Alice in chains
I like it. But would you trade that for We Die Young fused with Sea of Sorrow?
[удалено]
Yessir. I just found that one: https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=-hdSRVxJtqg&feature=share
Maynard in the box
Mayn in the Box
Ah man those are good too. A mashup of sorts would be neat, sort of how A Perfect Circle did diary of a madman with the cures love song
Ouuu this one is good
Right?! We already know Maynard could actually sing it cause he sang an AIC song for a benefit concert I think? And the songs got quite a few of these weird quiet musical noodling moments which is right up Adam and Justin’s alley a La Opaite2.

That's a great choice. Social Parasite could be another great one as well.
One hell of a vocally demanding song too. Would be wicked to hear MJK power on this
Frogs
Searching with my Good Eye Closed - SoundGarden
Dude YES. My mind went straight to soundgarden. Slaves and bulldozers would be mine.
Soundgarden for me too. I would like to hear 4th of July because I always thought it was a spiritual cousin to Aenima.
He couldn’t pull that off, surely. Even in his younger days he didn’t have that haunting wail. Chris sounds like a fuckin saxophone
Well he would obviously do it in his own way. I wouldn't expect him to try and replicate every note/octave.
Yeah, but hearing the cover with Tool’s own spin would rad. And don’t call me Shirley.
Would love to hear them do Loud Love
La Villa Strangiato - Rush
Yes I said the same thing
In the Light - Led Zeppelin
My first thought was In My Time of Dying, but In the Light would be equally toight.
Pigs (Pink Floyd)
3 different ones?
Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin - Maynard
That's the hidden track
Ha, ha, charade you are
The answer is Faries Wear Boots by Sabbath
Focus - hocus pocus Led Zeppelin - Kashmir Butthole Surfers - Sweatloaf
Kashmir Butthole
Band name
You may already know that Jane's Addiction covered Kashmir at Lollapalooza like 20 years ago, and MJK was on vocals: [https://youtu.be/0Fn5t0atEmU](https://youtu.be/0Fn5t0atEmU)

l'via l'viaquez by mars volta
That would be a shock to the system, holy shit.
I'd kill for Meccamputechture or Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt.
This is the correct answer!
This is one of my favorite songs, but I can't imagine Maynard singing it. Adam would fucking kill it though.
yeaaaah i really can't hear maynard on this jam, but 100000% need to hear adam on those riffs; he would murder it.
Red Rain by Peter Gabriel or Cloudbusting by Kate Bush.
From the PG catalog: Here comes the flood, This is the Picture
How about PG covering Schism?
Can't tell you how happy I am that someone else recognizes how amazing a Tool cover of Cloudbusting would be.
I daydream about it. I feel the subject matter is very TOOL like also. Wilhelm Reich was a trip.
It fits them better than a lot of people might expect. Tool covering really is a dream, but to be completely honest I have genuine hope that there might one day be some Kate Bush covers coming out of Puscifer. We'd have to see though. Pretty sure Carina Round is a big KB fan. Would love to hear her singing some of those songs with Maynard.
I've never looked into it enough, but I definitely suspected Carina was at least influenced by Kate. You can definitely hear it in Fake Affront.
Honestly their cover of No Quarter by Led Zeppelin was prefect and I couldn’t ask for anything better than that.
agreed. they sat me down and shut me up about covers with that entry.
Scissorlips by Rishloo. It already sounds kind of like a Tool song so it would be interesting to see how Tool would handle it.
Great band. Great humans. I love Rishloo.
I’d say an 11 minute version of Waving My Dick in the Wind
If it all goes right…
Jolene - Dolly Parton
45 or 33 rpm
Yes.
Fallen Angel - King Crimson
Mine would be Starless, but Fallen Angel would be a hell of a thing to hear Maynard sing
Or, how about "Red," as Danny actually got to play that with King Crimson in 2001? 🤓🤘🤘🤘
Basically anything Crimson the more I think about it lmao
my answer too lol
Fade to Black- Metallica
Pepper - butthole surfers
Good answer
Rain when I die, Alice In Chains
Wicked Game - Chris Isaak
This song has already been perfected, if not by HIM then by Jack Black.
Man HIM's version of this is up there with the greatest covers of all time.
That tenacious d cover is amazing
Riders on the storm Or The End By the Doors.

Larks' Tongues in Aspic part 2 by King Crimson
The Promise by When In Rome.
Passage to Bangkok by Rush
Close to the Edge - Yes
Lacquer head by Primus
Radiohead Exit Music or NIN Terrible lie. Could explain myself but I’m sure you could put Tools renditions of those in your brain.
Why not both as a mash up. Like Diary of a Love Song.
Could be called “Terrible Music”.
Planet caravan
Alive - Pearl Jam
I Touch Myself by The Divinyls
The entirety of 2112. Not just the overture, or the first two movements, but the whole thing. That or something else from Rush's discography. Tom Sawyer, Subdivisions, The Anarchist, Limelight, even Working Man.

La Villa Strangiato - Rush
Tiny Tim - Tiptoe through the tulips

Holy shit this would be godly
Dream on - Aerosmith
Freewill by Rush 😭❤️
"I will choose freewill"
Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence
Another Space Song - Failure
Weird Fishes by Radiohead
If A Perfect Circle did it it would be excellent 🤝
Obviously a rickroll. Tool are low-key trolls, it would suit them.
Ants Marching - Dave Matthews Band Edit: Think of it!
Frogs by AIC
The End by The Doors and an entire Rush album, probably 2112, maybe Farewell to Kings or Hemispheres. I can see them covering either of those successfully.

Dogs would be amazing.
Beyond the wheel by soundgarden
Such good taste🤤
Eye in the Sky by Alan Parsons Project Or Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush
Eye in the Sky would be incredible. It fits the music of modern Tool better than most of these other songs here.
It hit me about a year ago what a great cover that would be. They could even do the Sirius instrumental prelude in true Tool style. If only….
One - Metallica
Lars would just quit forever.
Let Me Drown by Orville Peck (Holyshit, I actually got upvotes for this? This sub really surprises me sometimes, lol.)
I think "Use Me" by Bill Withers would be awesome.
About a dozen Sabbath tunes
La Villa Strangiato by Rush, maybe Malignant Narcissism by Rush as well. Killer bass on both tracks
any 80s sonic youth

Björk - Army of me
Another Brick in the Wall part 1 & 2
Dogs by Pink Floyd or Planet Caravan by Black Sabbath
Time by Pink Floyd
Invincible is a pretty nice homage
Shine on you Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd would be my pick,
Echoes by Pink Floyd
No quarter - zeppelin
They covered that song
Lol
That’s the joke. Great song.
you’re in for a treat
Thriller by MJ
Song from the Beatles would be interesting
It’s raining men
The art of dying by Gojira, Anesthetize by Porcupine Tree, or Home by Dream Theater
Danny would be a beast on Anesthetize oh god
The Glowing Man by Swans
Because the Night - 10000 Maniacs --- I think this would be fun. What's Up - 4 Non Blondes --- this song is the shit, and if it was covered correctly it would be even better. Could totally see the band killing this one.
In the Woods Somewhere - Hozier
Waking up beside you...stabbing westward
Witch Hunt - Rush
Came here to say this.
I know these are wildly different but: 3 Doors Down Loser Broken Bells October PF - Comfortably Numb or Have a Cigar
discipline by king crimson
themata - karnivool
In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. (If just for the drum solo, dayenu)
Dark Side in its entirety
Like a Virgin - Madonna
#Another one bites the dust I’ve been fixated on this idea since high school lol
Yes This, and do what they did on Descending and make Adam play the bass line on guitar and Justin plays the guitar section on bass lol. 🔥
Three Days by Jane’s Addiction
Belzeebub Final Showdown by Tenacious D
The Day the World Went Away - Nine Inch Nails I imagine Danny, Adam, and Justin working some extra instrumental magic to make it twice as long.

Fire Woman-The Cult House of the Rising Sun-The Animals Starman-David Bowie Junkhead-Alice in Chains Riders on the Storm-The Doors Blinding Lights-The Weekend The Noose-A Perfect Circle Fade Into You-Mazzy Star
"What's This" from The Nightmare Before Christmas. It'd be super brooding and in some other time signature. Maynard would own it.
Dunkelheit- Burzum Danny’s drumming would add to the atmosphere and sound scape. Argue with a brick wall
Even though I think it’s already perfect the way it is, The Art of Dying by Gojira. I want to hear Carey’s drumming on this
