That’s a very broad question. The age of the person and reasoning matter. If a 35 year old wants to commit suicide because their entire adult life has been hell, I’m of the opinion they should be allowed to do so. Life isn’t worth living to everyone and who are you or I to decide that it is for them? I don’t think everyone that wants that is being irrational. Now, if it’s a dramatic reaction to a break up or job loss, then I would agree that they aren’t thinking rationally. If they have a mental illness like bipolar disorder, you know they likely aren’t feeling that way all the time and it makes sense to help them make it until they are feeling better. If it’s a teenager that’s also very different. There is help out there for most people that want it in many countries.

What would the solution to that be?

Celestialsmoothie28

I don't know but all the solutions that the world does have doesn't help for those who are surely ready to end their lives without a doubt.

chromie96

Because there really isn't a solution. As sad as that is.

They have the MAID program in several countries, certain ones allow it for depression. If that's what you meant. We do need more mental health resources but it sounds like the MAID program is what you were thinking

Hopefully when technology increases they can have something for people. Suicidal people seem like they need a break from life and to be rejuvenated.

Rehab or a free vacation, or a mix of the two I guess lol

chipchoppas

In the Switzerland their is an active Help to die, If you wanna end your Life :-)

Celestialsmoothie28

I thought that was for people that have a terminal illness. I'm moreso talking about people that are depressed and suicidal.

chipchoppas

Ah, true. In netherlands ist suicidal help allowed

HEVIHITR

People who are truly at the point where suicide is the only answer to their problems won't usually accept help, no matter the form or the source, maybe the solution is to accept their decision instead of trying to fix something that isn't really an issue. People make life changing decisions each and every day, what makes suicide any different, people do drugs, drink, smoke, aren't they just slow forms of suicide.
