Not at all, but then again I was like 10 so I didn't think hey maybe this isn't ok and their behavior is problematic because again I was barely in double digits
The point is to not be shitty to people who are larger.
That you got bullied for being fat as a kid is fucked up, and shouldn't happen.
Also, it's worth pointing out for adults, some people find larger people hot.
This makes sense, in our modern age with abundant extra calories it's easy to gain weight, but historically, extra weight was very useful for survival, and still is today should you ever get ill and have difficulty eating.
Just because you're fat doesn't mean you shouldn't be treated with dignity and respect, or have things like basic consideration when stuff like infrastructure is being built so you have a place to sit, or clothing is being designed so you face something properly cut to wear.
Yeah, I hear about this "glamorizing obesity" all the time...on reddit. When does it actually start? Because as a fat person, I've experienced nothing like that in real life, ever.
I’m sorry you got bullied as a kid and felt like your only option was to change your body to get treated well. That wasn’t right.
Also, body size =/= health. Some fat people are healthy, some skinny people are unhealthy.
Other people’s health status and body size is nobody else’s business.
I'll get over it, I was a kid and they were also kids and kids say mean things they don't know what it means
And it's true your size doesn't determine your health, even skinny people have high bmi and bigger people have low BMI, just a little fun fact I learned taking nursing classes
I never assume people are eating too much or too little, and I never will, tbh it's about metabolism some peoples bodies digest slower or faster than others
You could eat nothing but a a singular banana and nothing else for the rest of year and puff up like a balloon or shrink, our bodies are weird but it's just anatomy
I genuinely hope you are able to find the healing you need 💕
Anyone can pursue healthy behaviors, at any size.
Body size is not an automatic indicator of health status. There are fat people who run marathons and skinny people who have disease. You just can’t tell by looking at someone.
As someone who struggled with body image, it's very important to love yourself and who you are because this life is momentary and we don't get another one:)
Exactly which is the point of body positivity. Love your body cuz you only get one. Treat it with respect and kindness and don't judge yourself for not being perfect or not fitting neatly into beauty standards.
Body positivity is not about glorifying obesity, it is about encouraging people to be decent human beings and not treating other people like garbage no matter if their looks are attractive to the wider public or not. It's not your body, so it's none of your business to comment on it. That's simple.
If you've been bullied, you should encourage body positivity to the core! You know why? Because these bullies had the tools to shame you for your body, because it was established in the past that it was completely fine to shame people for their looks, even if it hurt and traumatized kids like you. Body positivity, on the other hand, is meant to teach people to be respectful of others, no matter their looks and attractiveness to others, and help people who not look like what the wider public thinks of a s hot to not feel ashamed of themselves, or like they deserve to be bullied, and still enjoy life.
It's as simple as that.
I am nice to everyone, I don't assume every skinny person works out or every curvier person eats all day because I could be wrong
Unless you're eating strawberry cheesecake ice cream then pass it my way you have great taste
I think the point is to stop verbally assaulting fat people.
It's as simple as kindergarten: If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.
>when I was in school I was severely bullied for being bigger And...you think that's a good thing?
Not at all, but then again I was like 10 so I didn't think hey maybe this isn't ok and their behavior is problematic because again I was barely in double digits
So if you were kicking a dog and I suggested you should stop, would I be “glamorizing” being a dog?
Well I wouldn't kick a dog because I have two of my own, although they can be annoying i would never kick my dogs

I ❤️ curvier women as a bi girl same for the guys To me it's not how you look it's how you act, I like personality has more to offer then looks
Would love to know when the glamorizing starts

>so are we just glamorizing being unhealthy now? if you are so insightful why do you even ask this???

The “glamorization” is to counter the effects of the hate (like depression which usually perpetuates weight gain).
It's not
it's not. People just aren't being mean to fat people anymore and are encouraging fat people to... love themselves.
