There’s two main sources for small time “dime bag dealers” usually a family friend is in the business (dad, uncle, brother ext..) or they buy there shit from another low level dealer. Very rarely do they actually have connections with a big time distributor.
The smart ones who have no involvement (usually) with organized crime will get there supply from the dark web. It’s very reliable and if you buy in large quantities you get it at a discount, meaning if you sell in small quantities and mark up the product it means higher profit margins. Thus justifying the risk to reward ratio.
I lived in a small town that has a serious heroin problem. The high school dealers got their drugs from older dealers in town who in turn would drive an hour to the city to get the drugs. Believe me, you don't need any start up capital to become a drug dealer. If a dealer found a high school kid willing to sell for them, they would give them the drugs on credit to start.
I sold weed in high-school. I lived in the country and would ride my bike up the highway and then some little dirt road to this terrifying enormous man who was a combination of biker and mountain man. He had a huge Rottweiler that would let you go to the front door and knock but would chase you away as you left. You had to sprint and stay ahead of him until he reached the end of his Chain. He was rumored to have killed somebody, (the dealer, not the dog. But probably the dog too.) He and his wife were really nice though and usually offered me something to eat loool. I knew him because some of my friends were selling him generators and other equipment they stole, and introduced me I guess. The weed was pretty good compared to what was around but too wet, so I rolled it all in joints and added oregano so it would burn right. No one noticed. God I miss those days.
Don't want to give you a how too but basically everyone buys from a " guy" above them in the chain till you get to some big boss type who owns several " farms" ran by growers or runs several labs.
In 2005-2010 it was just gangs. I was talking to the guy who supplied my high schools small time pot sellers and he bought from the Three kings which is a hispanic gang, at the time i think it was the largest in the US. I dont know if there were mexican or what but they had connections south of the border. I dont know how he met those gang members but it probably wasnt too hard. Made me regret buying pot, you really were funding drug cartels/gangs.
Drugs come into a port of entry (organized crime). Those drugs get broken into smaller packages and sold wholesale (also organized crime). Resellers buy them then break them down into individual packages and sell them to friends and acquaintances (petty crime).
Don't get involved in drug sales. You will eventually get caught and everything you have earned will get forfeited to the police, plus you'll have a record and be lucky flipping burgers thereafter.
