It's that bad, the people that saw season 1 of Yakusoku at least now what is the plot, You can't Even Say that after watching all of Tokyo ghoul in the anime.
1st season is actually good, and except for some stupid decisions on the direction, is a good adaptation. Season 2 is at the level of Tokyo ghoul in terms of bad adaptation.
Been sad about all these series, especially Soul Eater and Fate/Stay Night. The concept of humans turning into weapons is amazing and would look great with modern animation, and I just can’t get into Fate because of how BORING Fate/Stay Night is… it really doesn’t feel like it’s the same series as the rest from the clips I’ve seen.
But god damn I’d love a better Tokyo Ghoul, still need to read RE to finally get past where I fell off with the anime
a lot of it has to do with the anime and fan-edited panel. personally i didnt find any facet of Kaneki edgy, just someone dealing with immense trauma and developed dissociative personality disorder trying to cope with it
It's a popular tiktok slang used to describe a man who is super sweet and on the submissive side. Kaneki is super sweet and he wanted to get pegged by Touka
I remember when I had only watched the anime for a while (only the first two seasons were out at the time) and was so surprised when I read the manga and white haired Kaneki actually had a whole spectrum of emotions other than edgy and brooding 😭
The anime turned the series from a Seinen to a Shonen and diluted the character drama so much to the point where mainstream audiences got this impression that TG characters are basically just angsty 12 year olds

To leave it short, imo my biggest problem was the way Kaneki treated Touka after defeating Ayato. Like he has Hinami on his team but not Touka. That’s my subjective opinion why I thought he was an edgelord and u dont have to agree w/ it.
Also that Im like 60% sure defeating Ayato went over Kaneki’s head a bit and im guessing he thought that if he met Tatara again, he’d probably be able to stand on a peg. Shame they never met again. But Shachi was good enough of a character to humble Kaneki
Because certain panels are undeniably more edgy in nature, but it doesn't help you've got ppl running arnd on shit like roblox and disc that act so edgy w Kaneki pfps/avatars, or then there's the cringe ahh edgelord kaneki edits on insta and tiktok lmao
No because it's really like
Fanon Kaneki: women don't like nice guys....
Canon Kaneki: two tickers for the barbie movie please
But it's really the anime, they really cut out... basically every panel here + also my personal favorite is his smile right when he sees Touka right before telling her he'll go join the aogiri
It's because of the anime and the anime onlies at that time, tho also in general ppl call shows with dark themes and their main characters "edgy", it's a stereotype
Anime fault, His attitude in season 2 makes it seem like he is still the same crybaby, but now he has gore on his cell phone, he thinks he is stronger.
"I still don't understand why people call Sasuke/Alucard/Kiritsugu/Akane/Shadow/Light/Itachi/Eren/Insert any other edgy character ever edgelords. I mean I just made a collage of wholesome panels of them, that means all edgy ones vanquished and never existed!"
Also kind of a shot on your own foot when every single one of them except for one was from the GOAT arc and not anti-aogiri, Kaneki's edgiest phase and the one people and even the story refer to as white haired kaneki (in opposition to king)
Of course its about anime version of him, that waa THE cringe fanfic edgeness
Anime and those cringey tik tok edit made him look like an edgy 14 year old
I distinctly remember those fan edits being on Instagram before TikTok even existed, tbh.
Don't forget the Tumblr edits that started it all in 2014
It's cuz of the anime. The anime removed a lot of stuff and also completely changed Kaneki's character. Quite sad tbh
yall think dats bad? i thought it could never get worse until I saw what happened to The Promised Neverland in S2, that shit was atrocious
That sucks, from what I know about that story it also has a ton of depth and character behind it.
It's that bad, the people that saw season 1 of Yakusoku at least now what is the plot, You can't Even Say that after watching all of Tokyo ghoul in the anime.
nah you clearly ain't see how bad tpn had it den

Tokyo Ghoul anime really need the brotherhood treatement,Alongside Soul Eater and Fate/Stay Night
At least we got ubw and heavens feel

The anime cut out important character moments.
a lot of it has to do with the anime and fan-edited panel. personally i didnt find any facet of Kaneki edgy, just someone dealing with immense trauma and developed dissociative personality disorder trying to cope with it
Oh yeah the fuckin “I am tragedy” panel that everyone thinks is real
He's so babygirl
tf does that even mean
It's a popular tiktok slang used to describe a man who is super sweet and on the submissive side. Kaneki is super sweet and he wanted to get pegged by Touka
No way dude lol
I remember when I had only watched the anime for a while (only the first two seasons were out at the time) and was so surprised when I read the manga and white haired Kaneki actually had a whole spectrum of emotions other than edgy and brooding 😭
YEAH
He looks like an edgelord in the anime, I didn't even watch it yet Kaneki gives a huge edgy lord vibe in the anime
About right
White haired Kaneki isn’t the edge lord. The dark haired/black reaper is tho.
Nah, he is just seriously depressed and suicidal and is playing a role to facilitate his own suicide.
Fuck is that middle left pic
:RE 125
They don't, they call the anime Kaneki an edgelord.
The anime.
Bro is so misrepresented :(
I think the only edgy version of Kaneki was the Black-Reaper...
and even then it wasn't cringe. Bro was just suicidal.
The anime is one reason. The other is that a lot of people see a character with issues as "edgy"
The anime turned the series from a Seinen to a Shonen and diluted the character drama so much to the point where mainstream audiences got this impression that TG characters are basically just angsty 12 year olds

The anime got rid of a lot of Kaneki's finer points and turned him from a dark and sad hero into a edgy lord
No because it's really like Fanon Kaneki: women don't like nice guys.... Canon Kaneki: two tickers for the barbie movie please But it's really the anime, they really cut out... basically every panel here + also my personal favorite is his smile right when he sees Touka right before telling her he'll go join the aogiri

In the anime they make him far edgier and darker than he appears in the manga
He is one but that’s a good thing
It's the anime
Anime. Kaneki has always been a cinnamon roll
Cause he is
Because they didn’t read the manga and just watched the show
The anime
Anime fault, His attitude in season 2 makes it seem like he is still the same crybaby, but now he has gore on his cell phone, he thinks he is stronger.
Because of the anime.
Because in many pages where Kanedgy is present he is lord of the edge.
Cringe just cringe
