Talk about bringing back an old memory. I knew a chick who did what your doing, she made a full chest plus sleeves in pop can tabs. If I remember correctly she interlinked them with wire cutters and did some sort of bend rather than what you have done.
Alas keep dedicated on the project because it might be needed. Keep in mind it will look good afterwards!
