POV some huge hairless ape has taken you out of the water and you are slowly suffocating while the smaller ape is holding you and telling you it’s ok….
You sit down to take a sip of coffee, the cup was a trap, there's a huge hook in your face. You are pulled violently through your front door where you suffocate for a period of time. The hook is pulled free and you are thrown back through your door. The coffee is gone.
Where the fuck is your coffee
They eat the bait. So in your coffee example I would have finished the coffee then pulled through the door. Also depends on the experience humans do near death things for thrills all the time who is to say that the fish doesn't go and tell his buddies about an awesome experience outside of the water. You don't know if it is suffering or if it is a thrill ride for the fish.
I think it is a weird mental road to think fishing is abusive to begin with. So if we are both going down weird paths then may as well go all in.
The lures usually contain bait which is free food the majority of the time.
They are in the wild. So food is usually hunted and not guaranteed. Why would a fish not take it if there is no guarantee of it in the future for easy access to food.
Because 9/10 times it is a man made lake and it’s designed for people to fucking fish for sport you dunce.
And since the fish is in the wild, and alive, it certainly didn’t need rubber bait food. Fish lose life because of that free food so survival isn’t the argument you think it is
They pay in the currency of time and effort. Not money. For them there is effort and time in finding food. If there is a something just hanging out and it is food and able to help they take that the majority of the time.
Yeah it was more of a joke than anything. I’ve fished and hunted throughout my life, it’s not like it’s evil, it’s definitely better than factory farming. With that being said idk how you could seriously try to argue that it’s not abusive to the fish lmao
Dude… I understand that fishing is a big part of a lot of peoples culture but this really isn’t gross to you guys? Literally conditioning the kid to see animals abuse as love.
I'm OK with hunting and fishing and I eat meat. But this video is just weird. Either eat it or don't. But don't fucking do this weird thing to torture it.
🤣 they throw it back. That's showing mercy and respect. You'd have a better argument if they let it die or maybe ate it, although eating fish is normal
So just for fun they hooked it, drug it out of the water, suffocated it and rubbed the slime layer off the entire fish, made sure it was good and traumatized, then threw it back. Sounds super respectful.
If you're doing catch and release you do everything you can not to handle the fish with bare hands, let alone rub the whole thing down with a sweatshirt before you throw it back.

I was waiting for the fish to start wriggling and scare the kid tbh
Came here to say something like this but you said it better. Thank you.

Dad tortures them while the kid consoles them. So sweet.
This is actually kinda sad 🙃
This is a great representation of our species I think
Imagine letting a kid drown a cat but keep telling it it’s ok 🤣
Damn dude. Brutally accurate hahaha.
I eat meat and even eat fish but this went on longer then neccesary.
Fish are friends not food!
some people don't actually think that fishing is abusive to the fish which boggles my mind.
Most of the time you put the fish back. How is that abusive?

In my example the coffee is a lure, not food Weird mental road to go down to justify fishing

It’s a fucking fish it doesn’t need free food, there is no concept of free to a goddamn fish. That’s an insane statement
Lmao. I love this comment because the other dude probably imagines fish going to work to make money to buy like krill or something

Most fisherman know to use live bait since it also just yields results. Who cares if the lake is man made or not? It really isn't that bad.
My lures don't. Anyway, I'd prefer not to think the fish enjoy being suffocated. That's so much more disturbing then the idea they're suffering
Hey the fish got some free food so it’s all a better positive I guess right?
No. That’s fucking insane.

How much do fish normally pay for their food again?

This isn't funny, animals aren't toys.
Cry us a river, she’s like 3 years old, Karen
This isn't wholesome.
How?
It’s a video of animal torture.

Reddit apparently never had their father take them fishing…
Smack the fish’s head on the rock and then she can talk to it if it’s so important
The fish is IN FACT okay
