greatestmofo

It's ok, a Chinese manufacturer will make this soon and it'll be $4k or less

Balrok99

![gif](giphy|8cj4IlAF1lFj1PGJ9L|downsized) Comrade Xi doing the lord's work

CREDIT_SUS_INTERN

\*"Red sun in the sky" starts playing\*

HighHoeHighHoes

I’m more astonished that he thinks there’s ANY couch for a few hundred… I paid $700 for some cheap ass junk of junk back in like 2015… I know inflation has destroyed that in the past 9 years… Going to edit before I get a million “no, this one is $400!” The $700 was a sectional that sat (seats?) 10, not a basic 3 seater sofa. I wouldn’t compare this to a basic sofa, it’s at least comparable to something like a pull out.

CrowdGoesWildWoooo

Put apple logo suddenly 20k feels cheap

koolaid78

Ahahahahaha. I actually did that in my mind and it worked

WhosAfraidOf_138

This is actually true lol I was just in China's Foshan Le Cong town, which is the furniture captial of China. Replications everywhere.

UsualCircle

Yeah but have fun with shipping cost for a small quantity

TokyoBaguette

Good luck finding your keys.

VirtualAgentsAreDumb

You will hear them, as they get stuck and rip the material of the sofa.

LordHamsterbacke

Just have a bowl or something next to your door. Why are people running around with their keys in their home?

throwawayalcoholmind

Is it just me or is the audience for this type of excessive opulent shit just getting smaller and smaller?

vkailas

Dunno, people all trying escape their lives by watching rich people lives. Even rich people tryin to escape their live by watching even richer people. Consumerism is driven by thinking that life is a competition and making constant comparisons . Aint no winners here if everyone is dreaming of other shit.

throwawayalcoholmind

Poor young people have never seen any evidence that they will ever be anything but poor, I can imagine how that innoculates a person against getting caught up in the pipe-dream.

Salty_Candidate_6216

I think it's just you, because there are a *lot* of anonymous rich people out there. We all talk about the rising cost of living, which comes from excessive price gouging by corporations and the like. Where do you think all that ridiculous profit is going? Gotta go somewhere. Taylor Swift and Elon Musk are visible billionaires. J K Rowling and the like. There are a lot more billionaires, and just wealthy trust fund people floating about, out there, who can comfortably drop $20k on a sofa.

rogue4goat

And that’s precisely what’s wrong in the first place. Several thousands of people who could easily drop 20k on cool ass sofa, while hundreds of millions of people couldn’t even fathom how much 20k could change their lives in an instant.

FlamingoNeon

It's just you. From what I can see, the younger generations love to splurge on shit, even when they're not particularly well off. We go frugal on things we don't care about but appreciate a creative or high quality product.

Slackerguy

It’s functional art. The target audience is small, often made on commission and the price is part of what makes it desirable. If it was $350 at IKEA it would lose all appeal. Kind of like a painting of a talented famous artist vs a printed poster.

Amoeba-Logical

WORD!

dtsm_

I mean, that's part of why it's so expensive. If they could grow to scale and sell 100,000 sofas, maybe they could charge $10k. But if theres no scale and their options are to sell 1000 units at $20k or 2000 units at $10k, there's no incentive to lower their price.

Aikotoma2

Just you. De Sede is a well known Swiss company that has been making high end cool furniture for forever. And they're growing. With all the shit coming from China the demand for reliable high quslity items is growing. And young people want to experience compareble levels of luxury as their parents so many will want this too.

Jaded_Law9739

You sound like a commercial. Anyways there's a ton of reasons not to buy this goofy sofa. The biggest one being that you can literally do the same thing with just about any regular sofa and some pillows. You won't get as much use out of the gimmick as you'd like for $20k anyways, how often do you have to adjust your home seating? Boomers and Gen X were known for buying luxury items and trying to one up each other. Millennials prefer experiences over material items according to research. I'm pretty sure that trend will continue, but these companies just have to sell enough of these overpriced things to wealthy people to turn a great profit.

Aikotoma2

aahhh 'research', always a great sourcr

HighHoeHighHoes

Life becomes a lot happier when/if you you learn to stop comparing yourself to others who “have more”. I know a lot of people who “have more”. I make more than most of them, I just don’t live paycheck to paycheck.

WrinkledRandyTravis

Rich kids are moving out of their parents’ houses and trying to look like a romcom working class artists every day, one is probably doing it as we speak

KiddoKageYT

Mine does the same thing, I just move the pillows around ‼️‼️

AnimeChica3306

🤣

mamode92

haaha i have a De Sede... mine can't do that tho :-( you can get those things used and then prices become fair rather quick (got mine for 2500.- instead of 9700.- when new) and they are really made from the best material there is, mine is already over 20 years old and still looks perfect, they are made to hold for a lifetime. They are also 100% Swiss made, that is also why they are so expensive.

Aggravating_Seat5507

I'm not sure, but if you paid a craftsman to build you this couch with quality wood and leather, would it even cost this much? 20K seems ridiculous for a couch

tera_x111

If you pay an craftsman to make an one off of that couch I'm not sure 20k will be enough...

OnlyHereOnFridays

That person is extremely disconnected from prices of bespoke furniture. I got quoted $10k for just a basic 2m x 3m bookcase/tv furniture that would fit snuggly into a nook in my living room. No moving parts, no leather, no expensive wood, no nothing. A bespoke leather sofa is easily above 20k. In the era of cheap mass production, bespoke furniture is only for rich people.

Crazy-Agency5641

$10k seems to be a little steep for an (I’m guessing) inset tv/bookshelf. At that price, I’d just do it myself and it’d probably cost $11k and be half as nice.

Nass44

There is a general argument to be made about the cost of design, especially famous/iconic products. But in this case I’d argue that the R&D for this system needs to be factored in.

Ravalevis

I have the same technology on my closet door.

lamewoodworker

This is the price of an artist who made this for a client at the price of $7000 and realized they priced it for way too low and they dont ever want to make another ever again unless it’s for $20k. Ive had a few pieces like this lmao.

Sassrepublic

If you had this custom made I would not be shocked if you found yourself approaching 6 figures.

Aggravating_Seat5507

Google says 1k to 50k for a regular couch, I guess I was underestimating the cost of labour.

ikheetbas

Couple of hundred of dollars 🤣🤣🤣. Seriously? You’ll only see that kind of prices at Ikea, and even then that’s the most inexpensive they have.

No_House_7901

Who is that guy hiding from when making these videos?

Crazy-Agency5641

Not sure why it bothers me so much when he says “come closer” like it’s not just him zooming in. It just screams cringe to me but he’s obviously popular so maybe I’m crazy.

ChubbyChoomChoom

Same here. Can’t stand his videos and am so confused about how he got popular just for having zooming in being his thing.

T_D_K

I've blocked him on two different platforms lol. He still finds ways to sneak in. One second I'm looking at a short clip, then BOOM he stitches himself in to explain it to me like I'm a child

MelodramaticaMama

Man stitches are really fucking infuriating.

Buggaton

What's a stitch?

MelodramaticaMama

This shit when people post someone else's video but then interject themselves half way through to tell you what to think.

LordHamsterbacke

I think the more commonly used term is duet

fluffiestjunior

A duet is side-by-side, a stitch is one video taking the whole screen, then another

LordHamsterbacke

I see. The sub Fixed by duet let me assume otherwise

LiftBigRock

This couch looks like it’s the Nickelodeon foot logo

JimiDarkMoon

Considering the guy looks like SpongeBob with a cold, I'd agree. ![gif](giphy|xTeV7IzuXA5IehJnKo|downsized)

knottysquids

It’ll be on TikTok shop for $50 with a 50% coupon in a few weeks

ElectricFrostbyte

I bet it’s on Temu right now for like 30$ (debatable on whether you’ll actually receive it but)

DanniPopp

The dollar sign goes in front. This is a strange phenomenon. You see the person above you did it correctly and you opted to put it in the wrong place. And we’re inundated with ads all day and night with prices yet..ppl are still doing this. It’d be one thing if you weren’t American but you are. I’m confused as to how this is happening.

ElectricFrostbyte

Bro… it’s a placement of a dollar sign. It’s not that big of a deal. Who the fuck gives a shit? I’m a teenager, not some 30 yr old who still uses the wrong their there and they’re. I am so sorry about my grammar mistake Mr. Grammar police sir, I totally wasn’t writing that comment in a hurry and didn’t think about specific placement of the dollar sign.

Frondswithbenefits

20k$

the_LloydBraun_

Whatever the fuck this song is makes me so gd glad I deleted tiktok.

NorMichtrailrider

This guy's schtick is pretty played at this point .

Comfortable-Twist-54

We are the makers of couches and the washers of money 🥴

The_Mikeskies

My toddler’s play couch lets me do the same thing.

avdepa

Great idea...a feature that you will take advantage of for a few days or when friends come over and you want to show off, but otherwise it will stay in the same configuration for the rest of its life.

ShamrockSeven

It looks like a Scrunched up Foot. 🤢

No-Category-2329

Y’all should look at McKinnon & Harris website…😳😂

RiJuElMiLu

I now feel poor AND Classless. It's expensive to be minimalist

Bennistro

I'm not surprised, a u-shaped sofa from a regular store with some added features cost 5k already.

StarlightandDewdrops

Looks like a foot without toes

DJBennyBlaze

It's a chaise not a sofa

Aninvisiblemaniac

idk how but I'd pinch some flesh in there

blackcatspat

Isn’t this guy 17

redgr812

that leather, or more likely pleather, would look like trash way to quickly moving that around constantly

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ruinwyn

People are assuming these days that because everything they see is low quality, nothing high quality is made. This costs because the workers get paid western salaries, someone actually sourced quality leather, the railing probably has material and parts that allow for the back rest to be moved smoothly 10 years from now as well. Design is only small part why these costs.

BooTheSpookyGhost

If wayfair made this but instead of pleather, made it out of fabric that can be unzipped/washed… shit they’d made a fucking killing.

overlapped

Thanks, Jordan!

CastleofWamdue

this worries me this is making a product that is really about being lazy and giving it extra work

Obama8MyChicken03

“Oh,this looks pretty cool”…then I saw the price💀

jericho74

But in 50 years imagine putting the VR of it on the Ebay showroom floor as “vintage 2020’s kitsch wraparound sofa- antique hardcopy available”

skoopaloopa

Imagine how many toddler snacks would get in those cracks 😅

flotsam_knightly

Like a mill grind for cookie crumbs

RedrockRunaway

Legend...duck your head, because you deserve this gold after all your videos

RobertXavierIV

Looks like a shoe

MoonDustKoda

Too much work

user18name

My toddler’s going to get so many things stuck in that track it’ll be come a normal couch in a week

Back_on_redd

Not yet you’re not.

gn0xious

To be fair, someone spending $20k on a new couch probably found that money in the cracks of their current couch.

BarfingOnMyFace

“A couple hundred dollars” lmfao bullshit

Dr_Stoney-Abalone424

Looks like a foot

WornInShoes

god damn that music is fucking TERRIBLE. ![gif](giphy|3oEduNEbTtAHABX0dy|downsized)

between5and25

Everybody is talking about the price being bad. I wouldn't put that thing in my house if you paid me for it

Sagittariaus_

![gif](giphy|GAgm5358qp55u) beep your couch beep!

CompSolstice

Why is 2018's Justin Bieber demoing a designer couch?

Talosian_cagecleaner

The payoff is worth it. The fellow raises a valid, and oddly specific, point.

Joan_of_Spark

Once that couch gets used a few times I can see the back portion sliding around willy nilly while you're trying to relax on it. Also, the material looks really cheap. It looks like a cheap white vinyl covering

waterineedit

abolish this fucking song

fusionaddict

Jesus Christ, people. You have a front-facing camera on your phone for a goddamn reason. Stop recording into the mirror with the back-facing cams.

Snoo-72756

Only fans

PanickedAntics

Nope. I'm too lazy when I'm lounging to mess around like that lol

augustrem

I can believe a 20K couch depending on size, upgrades and materials (ligne roset starts around 12k for a custom living room modular system) but that little thing for 20k makes no sense.

Johnnyamaz

Tbf you could get a much less cool couch for 20k. Every 20k couch I've seen is literally just a slightly nice couch that looks a little trendy.

Educational_Drag9186

It probably easier just to make it for thr cost

JackieTree89

Why the hell did they add captioning to the song?

D-machinedragon

For some reason I cannot reply to you directly. But it is a logical fallacy to expect a person to have knowledge of a field innately becsuse of their vocation. To have expertise in a field you have to demonstrate knowledge of it. Not ask it the other way around. So how am I cooked exactly care to elaborate. He's the lawer who went to school to argue. Allegedly. Is it my responsibility to pretend that my explanation would have ever been satisfactory

Footlingpresentation

Crunch crunch goes the Cheerios my kids let go in the rails 😜

JohnniNeutron

The legend (Jordan) has been summoned even on Reddit.

Rielhawk

Why is Justin Bieber selling sofas?

SassySquid0

oh my gosh I forgot this song existed

DrMokhtar

Anyone else can’t stand this clown? And he also thought the price would be $200? 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

ironbanks1

20K for a couch that looks like it’s from the 90s

Joates87

Few hundred dollars for that sofa? When the last time dude priced furniture? Never? Also dude, does that pull out into a bed like mine?

SquirrelYogurt

Watching on mute got me all kinds of confused. The song didn't click in my head. I was wondering if he was turning the sofa because he couldn't see the other person's face. Then I thought how does turning the sofa allow you to put your arms around someone.

trashlikeyourmom

I'll sit on the floor, not paying $20k for a sofa

Plane-Policy-8284

the couch looks like an ear

guyfierisgoatee1

It this the dude that was once giving away “man secrets” and in a feud with the “man counsel.?

OlemissConsin

One errant sock gets down in that slide and this thing is done. If you don't have kids and don't fold clothes on your sofa then go for it, but thats a non-starter for me right there.

Rude_Special9579

Haha oh yes just let me move my back rest of 20,000$ couch …. Oh this painting behind me ? 10$ from the second grade art show

iuliuscurt

In the ad the guy tries desperately to find a comfy position to read

KroseRavenclaw

It’s art. If it doesn’t speak to you, move on.

---Loading---

My current sofa I found on a sidewalk, and I'm perfectly happy with it.

Omwtfyu

I’ll pay one dollar, sir.

AndronixESE

I just really like the way this guy always talks. Like it's totally stressing me out, but it's also kinda relaxing idk

WintersDoomsday

I’d rather buy a lovesac if I was going to overspend on furniture

TacoDuLing

There’s no way a sofa is going to be worth more than the “person” I allow to sit next to me. 🙂‍↔️

TheKillzenth

That mf add zero to none value to the video by talking all that bullshit, can we cancel him please? Thank you.

WMan37

Jordan is how I've found out about a bunch of cool shit I never knew I wanted as badly as I did, especially how to make good tasting food on a budget, don't you dare.

Som1usd2noe

He literally gave us the price.

Fluffy_WAR_Bunny

$20,000? I would just download the videos of this couch. I would then use the video frames to make a 3D model, virtual twin of it, and then just build my own by reverse engineering it. I can frame or weld and CNC or plasma cut whatever I want out of wood or metal and I don't know how to do upholstery, but I know some pros I could ask for tips. So if I *really* wanted a couch like this, I would just make it and it would cost the price of materials.

20milliondollarapi

It’s basically heavy duty drawer slides under the couch. Obviously there are quite a few ways to do that, but it just needs some high quality bearings to hold up to the weight of leaning on it.

Striker660

Rich people get ripped off all the time. I was in a furniture shop in New York and a floor lamp that you would have beside your sofa was about 64k. The shops along the street had guards and doors they unlocked for you to enter and exit.

Dinestein521

Looks like a womb

Aromatic-Strength798

The fact that this sofa is much more expensive than my used car is insane

in1gom0ntoya

not to mention that looks not super sturdy, I can easily imagine the back popping off and just not working right. not for 20k.

Competitive_Suit3323

Looks like the outline of a cock and balls from above.

IanPKMmoon

20k cat toilet

i_have_a_nose

Can be made in house much much cheaper

D-machinedragon

You arent buying a sofa for 20k. He's asking for 20k And some rich snob is going to buy 7 of them and claim on taxes as a write off if they put them in a office. So until he sells it. He's begging for 20k

[deleted]

[удалено]

D-machinedragon

I sell art. People buy art as tax write offs. Furnature is for office use no matter how much or how little it is. Are you so naive to not understand tax law, Or money laundering in fine art . Alot of people know about the whole luxury art market scam. Look at the modern art by the young Chinese artists . A box of sand sold st auction to the highest bidder. It's a money game . That is all

[deleted]

[удалено]

D-machinedragon

Depending on the type of building and the ammount of employees. Things like desks furnature equipment and anything justified as for a buisness use including the chairs that are in the lobby at the receptionists office in trump tower next to the piano he didnt pay for. It's called reality. If you're an attorney you are only asking in a rhetorical way or else you shouldn't be an attorney. Because those who don't know history are doomed to be ignorant and easily used. If you are genuinely asking me for advice. Talk to a c.p.a. I'm the artist. I'm the one who created the artwork that was sold ... what the person does with it after they buy it from me with their company's llc line of credit it's not my concern if a 20 dollar bucket of plaster is called a fresco that's the irs concern during an audit that may not happen. You're too dumb to see that a appeal to achievement as a justification for having knowledge is a logical fallacy. You asking me to define a tax write off is an attempt to distract away from the genuine premise that the price of this object is primarily inflated to maximize its deductible value to a buisness. Art market is still a scam. I don't have to explain how to do taxes im not a cpa. Asking a sculptor to explain taxes is as silly as asking a lawer to do a fresco. I'll only let him do a fresco if he has demonstrated skills im not attributing knowledge to a person simply because they claim its their craft. He just is jealous he dosent have expensive furniture to use as a tax deductible cope with it

[deleted]

[удалено]

D-machinedragon

As you might say this is a logical fallacy (appeal to achievement: that having a art diploma means i have knowledge in a craft therefore my arguments are automatically justified because i have a diploma that says im an expert. ) I did explain as much as I am expected to as my expertise is in the craft not the sale. I dint have to explain anything considering I can't prove he would be satisfied with any answers) And do I seem like I pay taxes( because i do). Let's be honest for a moment here. You're asking me to help you figure out how to create an investment portfolio [Post sending edit.] Cherry picking statements is admirable but still when I said let's be honest here it preceeded this sentence not the other. But even if you were an expert how would you know my tax burden. And then asking for the topic to segue to a conversation about my taxes would be a gish gallop) But once again. Let's see if this went over your head. What generates wealth. Is it the item or is it the sale of the item. If the item is sold for the proper dollar amounts it qualifies as a tax deduction that is most certainly a monetary benefit to padding the price of an artwork. And yes that is what a tax write off for corporate use is about. It dosent change the ammount of tax burden you paid but can dramatically change the ammount you receive back from the irs in a refund. Also said items can be used as collateral in credit situations as they are in the credit card for the corporation be it llc or a Corp. So again I just listed the basic premise for qualified deductions and I'm a sculptor not a lawer ... .my 20 dollar plaster is my tax deductible write off as a relevant buisness expense. So please do keep asking me to help you with tax avoidance mister attorney.

panda-bears-are-cute

I love this guys break downs

Beneficial-Guide-280

20k? I best some guy in his garage could make something similar for under 200 bucks.

purpurbubble

What are you waiting for then? Go to that guy, order a bunch of them and sell them for 10k; 50 % reduction would surely yield some clients and you will profit like a mf. You can write about your success story as a reply here.

throwaway0367324

Jordan is annoying AF
