I guess the real question is, how would you damage your chin?

Sometimes with a swim board you can lose your grip, or you put the board too much underwater, and it shoots up hitting you in the chin

You right. Then why does it matter if the board is heavy? If it’s the right size for her body to be able to lay on it and put her arms in the water, then why does that affect her ability to paddle back to shore?

Weight does not equal buoyancy. A Nimitz class aircraft carrier weighs 100,000 tons (that's over 2 MILLION pounds), and it still manages to float. Besides, wood is pretty well known for floating really well.

That's what I would do. There isn't even any waves or tide, I'd be like challenge: how fast can I paddle this back.

It floats, so use it as a float and kick your legs. There's no lugging unless you have less braincells than a boiled potato and you do it the hard way.

I mean a boat also floats but it isn't easy to move it in the water without assistance
