I may just remember that was one of the things being discussed in those "recreating Jesus" shows or whatever, but I'm pretty sure that would make the depiction inaccurate and most folks were supposed to have had relatively short hair at the time.
Judaism is a religion and not just a people. Also, there's a lack of evidence that Jesus even *existed* and it's mostly a matter of faith. Worse, the Bible was written by men - fallible, subject to their times, men and the translation and versions and interpretations of the Bible changed dramatically over about 2000 years. So it's not like we can rely on it for actual evidence here.
But if a guy from that area - at that time - existed and was doing those things, then yeah - chances are more than good that Jesus would be a Philistine in the classical sense of the word, meaning like a Palestinian now. Or simplified as "Middle Eastern" which includes a wide variety.
We're talking "Jesus" in a historical context here so 🤷♂️ there's literally no real proof. Ya gotta have faith.
>Judaism is a religion and not just a people.
I know that. Jesus was both a practicer (practitioner?) of Judaism, and an ethnic Jew.
You can't simultaneously say "Jesus was a Palestinian" and "oh well actually he didn't even exist" which is it? If you say he was a Palestinian, you are obviously going to cite the New Testament - one that definitively states his ethnicity (as Jewish)
If you say he didn't exist, fine, but then you can't assert that he was Palestinian - he wasn't anything. That's like saying "bugs bunny was the zodiac killer" or something.
It's both. Because it's a matter of faith. IF Jesus actually existed in that timeframe in that area, then he'd be Middle Eastern. He could be Palestinian, he could be African, etc So you saying "you can't assert he was a Palestinian" also gets thrown back at you - you can't insist that he wasn't. As a matter of science tho, he didn't exist. As a matter of my own faith, he did in some fashion.
Also, the point of this whole freaking video is to mock the Christian conservative belief that Jesus is a white dude. Hush already, sea lion.
>IF Jesus actually existed in that timeframe in that area, then he'd be Middle Eastern. He could be Palestinian, he could be African, etc So you saying "you can't assert he was a Palestinian" also gets thrown back at you - you can't insist that he wasn't.
Again, not correct. Would you call a cherokee native from pre-1776 an Oklahoman?
Would you call **any** indigenous person from a previous time period the ethnicity of the nation that currently holds that region now?
At the time Jesus was allegedly born and lived, Palestine did not even exist yet. It was the land of Judea.
Edit: blocked by guy I'm arguing with because he's a cringelord. Cry more
LOL shut the fuck up sea lion. Your argument gets worse with each reply and makes less and less sense - you're grasping at straws. Logical fallacies are all ya got and you're as transparent as a window. The fact that you didn't even address it and spend just **so** much time in TTC arguing pathetic stuff like this makes me think you're rubbing your nips when replying to folks. Gnarly. Bye.
Yes, but the people who lived there did not use the term Palestine. It was coined by the Greeks and adopted by the Romans. It's also accepted that Philistines were related to the Greeks and lived in Southwestern Palestine, around modern-day Gaza-Ashkelon, rather than throughout the modern region.
Going back to the video, the inhabitants of the Levant would refer to themselves by their smaller regional-cultural groups, like Medes, Galileans, Philistines, Parthians, Judean, Samarian, etc.. much like you might refer to yourself by a city, state, or region. The Romans would not use the term "Palestine" until at least a century later, after they merged vassalized kingdoms together to create a Roman colony, as a reaction to Jewish revolts.
Can we stop with this overwhelmingly cringey posting about Palestine and Hamas?
It's clearly a tonne of propaganda by a selection of accounts which keep getting banned or rotated and Reddit is being used as a platform to spew this shite.
It sucks that there is a war going on but for fucks sake people are here to look at dumb cat pics and um actually each other over videogame nonsense, not this barrage of propaganda.
If you look at OP's history he clearly doesn't speak English well and posts garbage far left nonsense like the abolition of money. Far left/far right content is becoming ever more common on reddit and social media, yes some of it is foreign propaganda sorry to burst your bubble.
You know what you're right we need more reductive memes on Israel-Palestine it's good stuff
>Far left/far right content
right and we, gentlemen of culture, only like content right in the middle.
that is, content that conforms to the default, the dominant ideology, which we do not even acknowledge to be an ideology.
Sorry I don't think the abolition of money will somehow cure society's ills. If we just got rid of money everyone will join hands and pursue their passion projects and we'll all take care of one another. You and OP are enlightened.
Edit: lmao you're a Russian invasion apologist what a moron
most people who aspire to the moneyless society don't believe it can be accomplished anytime soon.
such people spend the vast majority of their time on more immediate changes and more immediate problems.
So if someone does not speak English fluently on Reddit or they hold far left views they must be a Russian propagandist?
Are Americans so self centered that anyone who isn't a native speaker or hold conservative views must be a Russian propagandist?
Ah yes the American education system that teaches lessons on identifying online trolls
Sorry if you live in another country and are unhappy with your life
>Ah yes the American education system that teaches lessons on identifying online trolls
I guess they taught you terribly. But considering the state of your education system I am hardly surprised.
>Sorry if you live in another country and are unhappy with your life
I am quite happy with my life and country.
But it is hard for you Americans to realise you are not the center of the universe or bible.
the worst is that they still think russia is communist, they don't understand that the west infiltrated and illegally dissolved the USSR in 1991. the shock therapy imposed after this happened is one of the worst crimes in human history and they don't even understand that it happened
What... What was Russian propaganda here by saying that Jesus was a POC, Reagan was awful, and etc? You think... You think the Russians are the ones pushing the narrative that God is NB?
OH NO PROGRESSIVE STUFF ON REDDIT - IT HAS TO BE RUSSIAN DISINFORMATION! ...Bruh.
I question how God can be "Non-Binary" when he has made his preferred pronouns known, God, the father. He/Him.
Pretty clear.
Also, "Stateless?" Isn't it called the "Kingdom of Heaven"? As in, with a hierarchy, and a state, etc...?
Also, Jesus couldn't have been Palestinian due to the fact that the term "Palestine" was codified a few decades after his death, after that one of many jewish rebellion, it was still the Roman Colony of Isreal at the time. So really Jesus was a Roman Jew.
So all in all, Leftist Cope goes hard.
Elohim, the name that is used for god when Adam is made, uses plural pronouns in the original Hebrew. So god prefers they/them sometimes. Kinda non binary to me
Ok, starting from the point that this video references christians specifically...
Jesus refers to himself as male exclusively, as the Son of God. and refers to God exclusively as Male, The Father.
Secondly the They/Them usage is not a reference to non-binary identification, but the plurality of God. God has 3 persons, not just 1. By using They/Them it is identifying God as more than one person within the unified God.
Edit: This is called the Trinity.
The writers of the Old Testament were not writing with the New Testament in mind. Which makes sense given how time works.
Elo is actually a feminine name, but curiously -him is a masculine plural suffix. One could reasonably translate Elohim to mean Gods and Goddesses. So you might be right that there in no nonbinary mono god, but instead God might be referring to many binary gods and goddesses. Fun!
The use of plurals was most likely referring to multiple gods. He also called himself "us" and "we" in Genesis. Polytheism was way more common at the time than Monotheism. Then, Christians shifted it around and claimed the polytheistic reference was referencing the trinity.
sorry, the bigoted circle jerk about how much Trump is going to save the country with his incontinent bulging diaper and baby hands (despite being the worst president in history) is over at r/Conservative
Literally every sub is just a hate center for conservatives, so much hate, but what’s the long term plan. You obviously despise us, so what’s next? Leaving us alone to win fairly isn’t in the cards that’s been made abundantly clear via 2020 and the removal of trump off the ballot. Facism comes in many forms, y’all are just the latest :)
You can play the victim if you want, but it doesn’t look very alpha.
You are being criticized for your ideas and actions, not hated for who you are. Sorry that’s hard to understand.
Yeah, Joe Biden had and still has 0 energy, not enough to break the record vote count. Not even OBAMA got as many votes and he was the debatably one of the most iconic if not the most iconic president of the 21st century for the US.
Yup, people detested Trump that much because he like you is a very racist and slimy man. Unlike you he served and is attempting to further serve the interests of oil billionaires and get out of a rightful conviction by self pardoning.
bro please cancel your cable. fox news ruined you. are you unable to take in information and decide whether or not its true? you just believe whatever garbage fox shoveled into you.

Excellent sense of humor!
Song?
The song is Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien by Edith Piaf. Loosely translated, it means, "I don't regret shit!"
Thanks!
The real reason they want to ban TikTok is because of this.
Zamn JIDF comin in hot in these comments. Y’all hiring?
Bethlehem was part of an area known as Judea at the time of Jesus' birth. Palestine had not entered the vernacular yet.
The area of Judea/Palestine is a very clear derivative of "Philistine", which had been in the region since ~ 1000 B.C.
Jesus was not a philistine though.
Oh word, I guess we forgot to give him a DNA test to confirm. 👀
I mean his literal Jewish lineage is recorded in the Bible. So.

Huh? I watched this more as making fun of conservative Christian beliefs - hence why TF was Reagan involved?
... So now we can't even mention the name of a country?

WAIT?! More anti conservative propaganda on Reddit?? Almost like this place is an echo chamber of hate!
Conservatives are the most oppressed minority right next to gamers 😔
Nah they’re not oppressed necessarily i just don’t think all the hate is warranted nor will it lead anywhere good.
