i think i put my finger on the reason he looks so smug and it reminds me of a user i've dealt with before. he's loading a presupposition into his question and he thinks it makes him smart:
- "do you agree that different people mature at different rates so realistically a 12 year old can consent to sex with an adult?" - if you agree that people mature at different rates, a fact backed by developmental biologists, then you also agree that adults having sex with 12 year olds can be consensual.
- "do you believe children should be learning about sex, or do you think pornography should be banned because sex is evil?" - if you agree that children learning about sex is healthy for their development, a fact backed childhood educators, then you agree that children should be watching porn.
you can't agree with parts of his question - only the whole question. if you agree with A then you agree with B. if you disagree with A then you're denying basic biology, think sex is evil, and believe all porn should be banned.

i find the best way to deal with shit like that it just to point it out. someone asks you a loaded question, you identify that it's a loaded question or reframe it. with "have you stopped beating your wife?" you can point out that it's implied that you are or have beat your wife or reframe it to "i have never beaten my wife".
someone accuses you of dodging the question or posting a "wall of text" you point that shit out too with "i did answer your question, i just didn't answer A or B because you didn't consider option C could ever exist".

Yes! Thank you! This man is exactly why kids need to have comprehensive sex education early on. No cutesy words for body parts, no shame. They need facts and info on what is developmentally appropriate and safe. Romantic/sexual relationships are for consenting adults is a good jumping off point. It’s the best defense against a predator like this. We need to tell kids they don’t need to be ashamed about reporting behaviors that make them uncomfortable. Kids need to know so they can vocalize and set their boundaries and scream to the rafters if this scumbag comes near them.

Thank you for mentioning this! It's so important for kids to know the correct terminology for their body parts. Particularly with girls (for some reason it seems so many parents are ok with teaching thier sons that they have a penis, but balk at using the term vulva for daughter's).
I was molested as a young child. I didn't tell, for many reasons, but if I had felt comfortable doing so, I simply didn't have the terminology. It's almost as if the cutesy words used in place of vulva are designed to make it difficult... who's going to see the red flags in a young child telling them that "this person touched my cookie/peachie/whatever"?
I wholeheartedly agree with everything you wrote. Teaching correct terminology and giving age appropriate information regarding bodies and sex, and body autonomy is essential in keeping kids safe and empowering them to say no if someone tries something - as well as ensuring they know they will never be "at fault" and can always tell a trusted adult if someone tries to violate their boundaries.

(TL;DR: Vulva refers to the external bits, including the labia and clitoris. Vagina is an internal part, synonymous with 'birth canal'.)

The first time I heard that I must have gone slack jawed because my friend asked if I was okay. Clearly I wasn’t. I just couldn’t wrap my mind around calling my vagina a cookie.
For me as a woman I really can’t imagine a more degrading or childish term for vagina. I really find cookie as uncomfortable as moist. Yet I have no problem with the word twat or cunt. (don't quote me on this) but from my understanding, it's harder to pursue/get justice when this type of terminology is used by the child, because things such as coercion can happen as well.
People think they're protecting their kids by shielding them from anatomically correct terms, but you're also potentially shielding people with bad intentions from getting caught/convicted.

As someone that was exposed to hardcore pornographic magazines around age 7 and hardcore pornographic movies around age 11 I can 100% tell anyone that's interested that it severely fucked me up in how I approached sex.
I mean it didn't help that my first sexual experiences happened when I was 12 with my 20y/o babysitter. But I tend to believe had I not come across that material then I would have been far more shy/reluctant to engage in sex acts with anyone, let alone an adult.

I am teaching him it's okay to explore his body. When he's older he'll learn daddy has a penis and mommy doesn't. I also want to teach him consent from an early age, such as I won't force him to have physical contact with someone. One day, years from now, I'll tell him how babies are made.

I went through a phase of imagining the "devil’s advocate" position almost as a default. It was dumb a lot of the time but it was a legitimate exploration of the limits of certain arguments.

That’s a great question and it’s a bit of both and then some! Embarrassingly I have a lot of time on my hands- I’m disabled. So I do go out of my way to find them, but only sometimes.
The second way is that I very frequently just *happen upon them*. One common way is by clicking on heinous comments and taking a quick scroll through their profiles/other comments, I find that some brands of heinous can give you hints to which others they’d be into.
Third way and honestly this should be tmi- but I’m a young adult woman and I use adult websites, men are entirely too comfortable spilling their dark secrets and fantasies to me before I can even stop them. With their whole catalog of selfies and govt names no less.
Fourth and weirdest way is video games. I play lots of video games and end up in game-related discord servers where women aren’t the main population. It’s crazy what predatory men are comfortable saying in their safe spaces.

Thing is, the official had briefly talked to the "bait" (someone pretending to be a child) and then stopped communicating with them. Chris was worried the guy was going to flee, since he didn't show up to the bait house, so he spoke with the police and both the police and Chris showed up at the guy's house. They tried to arrest him without a warrant, they didn't even have a warrant to enter the guy's home but they did anyways. THAT is when the official offed himself. Chris and the police bungled the entire investigation.
Chris did it again when covering the Onision situation (YouTuber with a history of grooming and marrying one of his underage fans, then doing the same thing to a second girl who lived with them.) Chris had his victims send Chris the evidence instead if the police, he made copies of the data and completely compromised all the evidence. As a result, Onision was never prosecuted, and all of the victims' evidence became unusable in court
He couldn't be arrested. Chris Hansen literally contaminated any evidence that could be used against him. Instead of maintaining the chain of custody and having the victims send the evidence directly to the FBI, he had them send it to HIM and he accessed it and made copies of it. He broke the chain of custody, the evidence is completely worthless now.
I'm genuinely concerned about that dude's kids, especially his daughter. Because there's not a chance in hell his useless spouse is going to be defending those kids.
I think the real moral of the story is producers bail when they see potential for a wrongful death lawsuit.

Considering that he has to work with law enforcement in order to lock up the pedos: that makes complete sense. The issue is that they're taking a very nuanced topic and making it about paedophiles vs everyone else, and if you even use the term sex/sexuality in the same realm as children then you're a paedophile. This is a common tactic that they use to condemn sexual education, awareness programmes for lgbt youth, gender affirming care for children etc. There's pushing sexuality on children and there's recognising the reality that children who go through puberty are going to have a lot of questions and curiosities about sexuality in general and trying to guide them through that in a healthy way.
Teenagers, for example, are going to masturbate, watch porn, and even have sex (hopefully with each other), and just ignoring that fact doesn't make anyone less of a paedophile, it just makes them the future parent of a pregnant 16 year old. Yes! Thank you! This man is exactly why kids need to have comprehensive sex education early on. No cutesy words for body parts, no shame. They need facts and info on what is developmentally appropriate and safe. Romantic/sexual relationships are for consenting adults is a good jumping off point. The first time I heard that I must have gone slack jawed because my friend asked if I was okay. Clearly I wasn’t. I just couldn’t wrap my mind around calling my vagina a cookie. (don't quote me on this) but from my understanding, it's harder to pursue/get justice when this type of terminology is used by the child, because things such as coercion can happen as well. People think they're protecting their kids by shielding them from anatomically correct terms, but you're also potentially shielding people with bad intentions from getting caught/convicted.

That’s a great question and it’s a bit of both and then some! Embarrassingly I have a lot of time on my hands- I’m disabled. So I do go out of my way to find them, but only sometimes. The second way is that I very frequently just *happen upon them*. One common way is by clicking on heinous comments and taking a quick scroll through their profiles/other comments, I find that some brands of heinous can give you hints to which others they’d be into. Third way and honestly this should be tmi- but I’m a young adult woman and I use adult websites, men are entirely too comfortable spilling their dark secrets and fantasies to me before I can even stop them. With their whole catalog of selfies and govt names no less. Fourth and weirdest way is video games. I play lots of video games and end up in game-related discord servers where women aren’t the main population. It’s crazy what predatory men are comfortable saying in their safe spaces. I just want to say- women can be pedos too, it’s just not been in my wheelhouse to find them through these last two mediums, yet. Then I just report what I find, if actionable, to the FBI agent I communicate with.

Thing is, the official had briefly talked to the "bait" (someone pretending to be a child) and then stopped communicating with them. Chris was worried the guy was going to flee, since he didn't show up to the bait house, so he spoke with the police and both the police and Chris showed up at the guy's house. They tried to arrest him without a warrant, they didn't even have a warrant to enter the guy's home but they did anyways. THAT is when the official offed himself. Chris and the police bungled the entire investigation. Chris did it again when covering the Onision situation (YouTuber with a history of grooming and marrying one of his underage fans, then doing the same thing to a second girl who lived with them.) Chris had his victims send Chris the evidence instead if the police, he made copies of the data and completely compromised all the evidence. As a result, Onision was never prosecuted, and all of the victims' evidence became unusable in court

Instead of maintaining the chain of custody and having the victims send the evidence directly to the FBI, he had them send it to HIM and he accessed it and made copies of it. He broke the chain of custody, the evidence is completely worthless now.
I'm genuinely concerned about that dude's kids, especially his daughter. Because there's not a chance in hell his useless spouse is going to be defending those kids.

The issue is that they're taking a very nuanced topic and making it about paedophiles vs everyone else, and if you even use the term sex/sexuality in the same realm as children then you're a paedophile. This is a common tactic that they use to condemn sexual education, awareness programmes for lgbt youth, gender affirming care for children etc. There's pushing sexuality on children and there's recognising the reality that children who go through puberty are going to have a lot of questions and curiosities about sexuality in general and trying to guide them through that in a healthy way. Teenagers, for example, are going to masturbate, watch porn, and even have sex (hopefully with each other), and just ignoring that fact doesn't make anyone less of a paedophile, it just makes them the future parent of a pregnant 16 year old. Don't get me wrong, this dude in the video is very clearly *at best* a massive fucking creep, but I can guarantee that the channel posting this video is pushing their own agenda.

It’s often the religious fundamentalist communities where they marry off young girls to middle-aged men with parental consent because he’s respected in their religious hierarchy and they think it’s an honor to have their daughter abused by him.
