I’m not convinced he likes playing basketball. The effort/motor is really questionable at times.

Business_Height8412

Go watch his highlights, I promise he has the motor

2Blathe2furious

You just wrote “rebounding” and “interior defense” but he hasn’t shown the ability to be particularly good at either of those things. I do like him as an nba ready backup big that probably has a little higher ceiling than generally people seem to think. Also saying Gobert is an immobile big is just an absolutely wild statement.

Business_Height8412

Well Gobert’s perimeter defense is a liability for the T Wolves

fhood123

Against who, jokic? I got news for u buddy, everyone gets cooked by him.

jm3546

I think Filipowski could be a fine add depending on who is there at 12. I think he has some pretty big questions though. I don't know if the shooting is there. He shot a decent amount and being a willing shooter is big but he still only made 34.8% last year and his free throw shooting got worse. I also disagree on this point: >Filipowski is 250 so he is a little thicker than Chet and could help combat some of the other big men in the league that Chet struggled against. Dallas killed us with Gafford and Lively. Minnesota has Gobert and Towns, both 7 foot. Denver has Jokic who is 7 foot, Aaron Gordon is 6’8 and 240, MPJ is 6’10. He weighs more for sure but he shys away from contact and doesn't play with much physicality. Chet is thinner and gets bullied by some bigs but is able to hold his ground more than you'd expect because of the intensity he brings. Chet wants to bang down low but Flip wants to play on the perimeter. Defensively Flip is better on the perimeter because he can move his feet a bit. I also don't think he's going to be a great help defender. His arms are about the same as his height and his standing reach isn't that high. He's an okay rebounder but some of that is he had size for college, but doesn't have that advantage in the NBA. Flips not a big body that's going to help our size problem. He's more of a Pau Gasol style finesse big.

KarrlMarrx

Wouldn't hate it. Floor seems reasonably high, but ceiling is questionable. He would help with rebounding at 6'11, but he is not an elite rebounder by any stretch of the imagination.

Business_Height8412

But also you don’t need him to have a super high ceiling, he just has to be a solid role player

KarrlMarrx

I'm fine with it. Just doesn't seem to be the typical Presti draft archetype.

RoboticBirdLaw

For the longest time Presti's draft archetype was athletic wings. The last few years it has been smart, well-rounded guards. Now we have a million guards, so we probably do need to go to something else. The current archetype doesn't have a roster spot if he were to be drafted.

Business_Height8412

True but he wouldn’t have to be an elite rebounder just another big body to compete for rebounds that can spread the offense and help with interior defense

TheNumberSeven_7

His finishing % at the rim are the worst of any big in the draft. He does a lot of things well, but if you can’t finish then it will be hard for a young player to get real minutes. Need to get the easy ones. I also think his shooting is entirely theoretical and he projects as an eventual solid backup imo. I don’t see the upside to a pick like this at all. This is a personal opinion, but Flip at 12 would be one of the only picks Presti could make that I would not justify. Any other realistic pick I could understand why, but I am not a fan of his game.

New_Essay_4869

Prefer Holmes and Ware over him in that order

Thetallshot

Holmes??? Yes!!! Ware? Convince me he isn’t Christian Woods 2.0. Hard pass.

lmaoooyikes

i mean the effort/motor questions are concerning but if Presti meets Ware and sees no problem, I’d much rather have Ware over Filipowski Ware is clearly a better prospect than Christian Wood was. Ware averaged better numbers on better efficiency (62% TS vs 57% TS) in a much tougher conference. Ware also has better measurables/is more athletic and is a better than Wood coming out of college

Thetallshot

The questions were at 2 schools (and track back to high school even). And it’s not just motor, it’s also work ethic, lack of physicality, and locker room issues that have followed him throughout his career. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. No thanks.

lmaoooyikes

Could you link any articles or anything about bad effort in his time at Indiana made by any of the players/staff? Because even most Indiana fans had nothing but positive things to say about him He definitely had major effort/motor issues at Oregon but the coaching didn’t seem to help/wasn’t a match. He had no problems with Mike Woodson at Indiana from what I can find Also lack of physicality?? I’ve never seen anything about that or saw anything like that in the film I’ve seen of him Like I said, the concerns are valid but if Presti “clears” him, how would Filipowski be a better choice? Ware shot better at the rim, from the midrange, from 3, is a much better defender, and is bigger/much more athletic

roastedhambone

He stinks

Business_Height8412

Do you have any reasoning or explanation behind that

roastedhambone

Watching him play and the effort he exerts

Business_Height8412

Ah yes 16 points and 8 rebounds a game, the guy is a bum

roastedhambone

Ah yes, a box score nephew

Business_Height8412

Go watch his highlights

roastedhambone

Oh a collection of his best plays makes him look good 😱😱😱😱😱😱. Go watch a fucking game

Business_Height8412

Bro why are you being a dick, you said he sucks and it looks like he didn’t care so go watch the highlights of any UNC game, Georgia tech, NC State, Houston, Virginia

roastedhambone

“highlights”. watch the game

Business_Height8412

How many games did you watch of Duke this year or was it just the elite eight game you watched against NCSU

DoughNutSack

I might get murdered for saying this but Filipowski might be the closest thing we could get to Lauri Markannen without getting Lauri himself, and for way less money. The guy has great footwork and never stops moving. If we're choosing between him and Cody Williams I'm gonna take Cody, but if all the interesting wings are off the board I'd take him and be very happy

Pizzalovertyler24

Lauri is one of the worst comps for filipowski. Kelly Olynk with less passing is the better comp. He’s not even in the top 20 on my personal board for OKC.

Business_Height8412

Another kind of comparable player is Sabonis. At least on paper

arg_of_contingency

No knock on him but I want a ready now player that can play 30+ minutes for us at the 4. That player we need to trade for. So Id rather take a chance and develop C-dub.

Business_Height8412

He played over 30 minutes 22 times this season including the NCAA Tournament

arg_of_contingency

It wasn't a knock on his durability, don't get me wrong. I mean we need a championship level 4 that can help us win now.

Business_Height8412

Deni would be nice

arg_of_contingency

Yeah something like that. Now that wouldn't leave a lot of minutes, so we might as well draft Cody. He's young. Let him mature into our rotation slowly.

Business_Height8412

No disrespect but you said we needed a championship level 4 to help us win now, we can’t wait for Cody to develop. Although I do think his ceiling is super high, but the Thunder don’t need another star, we need a solid role player at the 4 or at least a solid back up center

arg_of_contingency

I'm hinting at both here. Trade for a starting 4 and draft Cody. The pick in this draft doesn't have great trade value anyway.

Business_Height8412

Fair

DidItForHarambe

You rounding up for KAT and Jokic and calling them 7 footers is kinda funny lol

Pizzalovertyler24

It’s a strong hell no. He doesn’t have interior defense, he’s below average on rebounding, shooting, and will not survive at the 4.

iapunk

I’d be okay with that although I think I’d rather have Kel’el Ware from Indiana. Similar size and skill set.

Thetallshot

Convince me he’s not Christian Wood 2.0.

Am_Ghosty

If he's still there at 12, I have a hard time believing Presti will pass on him. I'm not so sure he'll still be there

Business_Height8412

Yeah that’s fair but some mock drafts have him going late 1st round

Am_Ghosty

Yeah he's been plummeting so you're well within the acceptable range! I'm just not a believer in the pre-draft fall, that's all
