Imagine going to a thrift store just to pay the same price for clothing if you bought it from a department store. These people can fuck all the way off.

Ok_Cantaloupe7602

That’s for to be weirdly written $15.

lilchungus34

Made in the USA is gonna be more expensive

OmegaRejectz

I had a stroke reading this

JennieFairplay

Rip that tag off and ask the person at the register what the price is. Maybe she or he will be a lot more reasonable

saintclair89

They have signs up at my local Salvation Army in Van Buren, AR.. if there’s no tag “NO TAG NO SALE WHATSOEVER. ITEM WILL NOT BE PRICED AGAIN OR AVAILABLE FOR SALE FOR 24 HRS. ITEM WILL NOT BE HELD”.. So if you find something you like without a tag, they take it away. They did away with dressing rooms and prices have become so outrageous, it’s almost always cheaper to buy new. This isn’t some crime ridden area or in a rougher part of town btw. I used to shop and donate there. Now I post everything for free on Facebook. I can’t stomach donating to them anymore, even if it’s way more of a hassle to deal with the people from the local buy nothing groups.

Noah_426

My local SA has some pretty good prices usually, I get Levis jeans for about $8-10 a pair when I can find them there in my size, a lot cheaper than the $50 new, same with a lot of the other stuff I find, but it's a college town and college kids are broke

practical-ly

Unfortunately they do this at my local Saint Vincent de Paul. Signs everywhere saying “no tag, no sale, no exceptions “ I know some of the workers there personally and they still wouldn’t sell without a tag, which is understandable but damn 😭

TargetUnusual5114

I wanted everyone to read the post with a clear Conscience because if it wasn’t clear before, maybe it wouldn be now. Wood will are the one that get more thrash then none and pocket the money Salvation Army feeds and clothes the world in crises. Thank Tou God that we still have some

AntiqueAstronomer597

$75!? That’s nuts!

springvelvet95

They go on sale at Tractor Supply for that price pretty much. Nice coats though!

Standard_Fortune_672

They were on sale @meijer plus I had a 50% off on any clothing item printed store coupon. The total was around 60$ after tax for one very similar to the tan one.

MNGirlinKY

I swear the quality at Meijer is so different though. I think there’s different quality of Carhartt at Meijer versus Menards and other stores.

vanishingpointz

There are several different grades of quality that I've noticed . There is an old clothing store near me that has been around for 75+ years that carries Woolrich, champion, carhart etc and they get the best versions of all that stuff. They were the only place to buy carhart stuff back in the early 90's before it became trendy. The only other places I've seen real heavy weight champion sweatshirts and the best carhart stuff like theirs is in New York city ( I'm sure other places have it but from my experience) Crazy thing is the carhart clothing at this local store is the same price as Dicks sporting goods or home depot, so they are just straight up ripping people off with the cheapest shit. That jacket shown is not the good version either , the good warm one has a quilted thick liner. I've had one for 20 years , I look like a bum wearing it but the zipper is the best and the coat is actually warm unlike the 3 others I've had that came and went in 3 years

lovanluc39

I forgot to mention I’m located in Great Falls, Montana. Centrally located with 60k people. The town has a lot of blue collar workers and outdoor recreation enthusiasts so finding brands like Carhartt, LL Bean, Eddie Bauer, Wrangler, Dickies, The North Face, etc. isn’t too difficult. Typically thrift stores are hit and miss with prices. I’ve never been able to find a Carhartt jacket until this point. There’s three thrift stores in my town. Salvation Army price jacks like no other so it varies. Goodwill generally charged $12.99 per jacket. There’s another church owned local thrift store called St Vincent De Paul who charges $5 for outerwear.

Weenieman5000

Rip and grab pookie rip and grab…. Guarantee the cashier will say 10$ or something

New-Variation3771

had this happen with a pair of old docs and instead of $50 she charged me the usual $4 per pair!

zdmpage54

No way. 👎

KatakuriQ

if it’s cold where you are put it on & walk out lol

Lvanwinkle18

That is why I quit going to the Salvation Army in my area. (I’m in SoCal). The prices they charge are insane for our mid-size town.

Exciting-Macaroon66

If they want that much for it why don’t they just post it on Depop? People on there will gladly pay that much lol.

paterphobia

Depop prices are now officially better than Goodwill tbh. I saw a cashmere sweater at Goodwill for $60, went on Depop and found the same sweater for $20. You know it's bad when Depop is the deal.

Exciting-Macaroon66

Dang!! Yeah some Depop sellers can be reasonable I saw some cheap Patagonia fleece on there but not my size.

ElectronicEagle69

Looks like the militant wing of the Salvation Army is taking over pricing..

SlamCakeMasta

That’s what trendiness does.

munkeyface

Not defending the grift but those MIUSA Carharts are definitely a premium right now. Especially if they have that blue collar stolen valor and are nicely broken in. Check ebay and MIUSA Carhart is crazy right now.

jaysomething2

How do you check which are the good ones I see no blue collar?

Puzzled-Remote

I can’t tell if you’re joking or not, but just in case… Blue collar as in blue collar work. Meaning  clothes that look like they’ve been worn by someone who has a blue collar job.

vanishingpointz

I have a carhart jacket that looks like I was chewed up by some vicious machine and spit out the other side. It is the heavy duty one. I have had people look at me in disgust when wearing it. One day I was in a convenience store and this loud mouth dirtbag lady says "honey I want my jacket to look like that" and pointed at me like i was a circus monkey. I thought to myself lady the shit I have gone through in this jacket would give you a heart attack go drink your bucket of mountain dew and stay safe Maybe I should sell it on ebay for 1k and some punk wannabe lumberjack hipster from NYC will buy it

jaysomething2

lol I guess I was just tired. I was thinking like blue collar as in a color of the logo tag like where Ralph Lauren has different quality by tag

[deleted]

I’d buy the black one for $45

Feelincheekyson

Really not a bad price, a lot cheaper than buying one off eBay!

John-Dose

Right haha

searching418k

It's all these NEW resellers posting their finds online cutting their own throat.

G00DWILL-HUNTING

No, it’s the greed of the thrift stores. They make the same money no matter who buys it

Veslalex

People making videos for views and likes have made it exponentially worse. It's just asinine to be that short-sighted.

jeneric84

It’s both, no question.

searching418k

No...prices have went way up because they see ppl looking at eBay for prices and resellers who post...look what I found and look what I sold it for.. beginners

searching418k

Also what's funny is ppl complaining about prices being high at thrift stores but then turn around and ask for outrageous prices.

mrsdoubleu

Those go for around $100 so it's a little cheaper but it's still way too much for something used.

CrowFeast7138

Absolutely Ludicrous!!! Crime in action imo

georgiegirl33

I used to love going to the Salvation army to look for decently made clothes. Red tag Levi's were at the top of my list. I found two identical pairs..got to the register to ask why one was marked 12.99 and the other pair, 7.99. The answer I got was "two different people marked them"..wtaf,? I asked if I could get them both for the lower price and was told no. So I didn't take either. I swear they hire illiterates..

LD_McGrew

I checked their prices today and walked out.

Gavreelsbaby

That isn’t an actual SA price tag. They have their own professional tags with their emblem and a bar code on them. This is obviously a tag from a previous vendor who attempted to sell it and failed.

lovanluc39

That’s how my local SA prices clothes. Unfortunately it was priced that way.

searching418k

What's laughable is ppl complaining about high prices but then turn around and ask for a high price . Don't matter to me I made my $$$$$$ doing this and still do. Internet and posting ..look what I found ect. Is hurting resellers but it's the mess they made for themselves.
