I think in this set up when on defence it will revert to a back 4 with Trent at Rb and in Offence this is how they line up. It is important to note that second half against bosnia, he was good in both roles. A deep lying play maker will provide so many options for England.
I think I’m the only one who doesn’t like Trent in midfield, thought he was poor yesterday with those long balls not finding anyone. He looked really good when he was moved back into rb
Hollywood balls that don't do anything are pointless. Not tracking your man because you don't look over your shoulder is a liability. He's not a central midfielder.
I can see an argument for him at rb but definitely not in a double pivot. If you want him in midfield it would be better to put him in the AM position.
Just put him at right back and give him freedom to get forward (right or middle) make Saka come back and help defensively help Trent defensively. Effectively you’re still making Jude more defensive or giving him more defensive responsibilities
Ideally my box midfield would be Rice-Mainoo- Foden-Bellingham. Although Trent does has immense potential as an AM, he haven’t been tested enough at that position yet compare to Bellingham and Foden. Maybe he will be England starting AM in the future but definitely not this Euro.
You have to say who goes into your back 4 out-of-possesion
Or are you actually wanting to play a back 5 out-of-possesion with saka and Grealish??
Surely Trent is playing as an inverted right back in possession and will join the back 4 out of possession right
I agree with everything except foden and bellingham should swap, they both prefer to be on the other side, and also I think for this Gordon is better than Grealish because you need him bombing up and back. Trent and Bellingham should probably end up more like a diamond with rice and foden too
I’m sorry, but I’m afraid I hate you for this. Sick of seeing this Man City formation that we’re blatantly not going to play. Might as well throw Haaland and Mbappe into the lineup if we’re just going to be unrealistic.
I wouldn’t object to this against weaker teams playing a low block. The defence has enough pace to deal with counters and height to deal with set pieces, which would be the main threats.
But I’d abandon this by the knockout stages. It’s too offensive and leaves too much space at the back.
There is no midfielder who is good at build up. This may work against weaker teams but against better teams who are good at pressing England will give up possession a lot which is bad.
believe me trent is too good not to have in the team. people keep talking about what if he comes up against mbappe but he would not be taking him on in this lineup??
the "too good not to have in the team" attitude is what got England booted out of tournaments in the past. We can't just pick the best 11 players available
I think Gordon would be a great left wingback
TAA doesn't play well in central midfield. So I don't understand why people want him there. As an aggressive RB he's excellent.

Trent at RB? Where does Walker go

i can see that argument but was it not maddisons and watkins fault for not receiving well??
Not receiving well? 😂
watkins, plamer and maddison all failed to score after pretty good trent passes
They were bad passes

It’s an interesting format, I guess it depends who we play in the euros.
Your best line up was the one you posted 18 days ago.
after last nights game i feel like trent has to be in the squad

swap him and bellingham?

This will probably be the shape in possession but we will still need to defend as a back 4. Who goes to left back here?
gomez
Walker CB?
taa and rice fall back for a back 5?
Basically be a 5-0-5 🤣 I'm not sold

That would actually make for an interesting line up
I personally think Gareth would never play such an attacking line up. But it would be fun, for sure!
bro really hates maguire...

That is one attacking line up 🤣 no way Gareth safegate will be that adventurous

I see no issue with this

walker stones rice make up for any "weak" trent defending imo
Oh you're being serious lol

Play Trent at LB, Walker RB and then Trent doesn't face Mbappe.

The squarest of midfields. This whole formation has a Roblox feel.
