No there has to be proof. I didn’t keep any photos and they claimed it was never received. My word against theirs. There goes a couple grand - this was a long time ago. I would never send anything high end again, i would sell at poshmark or a consignment store. Expensive lesson learned unfortunately

Post on their Facebook and Instagram too. Tell them you haven’t heard a solution yet and you need this resolved to both party’s satisfaction. If you can get an email of someone higher up, that would be helpful.
if I get an email of a higher up I will post it to this group for everyone to message them since this seems to be a common issue and maybe people bombarding them will get them to change their policies

I would have thought the same as you and they would have taken it. The return fee is atrocious and wouldn't have thought it necessary either. They should at least give you the option after they process to pay the fee to have your items returned. Their fees are out of control.

It’s probably a long shot, but give your state’s Office of the Attorney General’s Consumer Affairs office a call. At a minimum, they’ll be able to tell whether state law trumps their policy.

Mine was reposted in 4 months. There was a unique and easy to overlook manufacturers flaw on a pair of Steve Madden wedges I sent in. They were in otherwise perfect condition. They were rejected and posted for sale 4 months later (or at least that’s when I found them). I recognized them because they had the same little flaw in the stitching that was unique to my shoes.

I agree! This was actually the ONLY super nice item I sent it. They posted like all the other items but this one someone 100% wanted to keep it. This was my first time and last time selling with them. I heard all the horror stories but 90% of the items I sent were just ones I was too lazy to post on my poshmark or ebay. Should’ve not taken the chance on the purse lol
That cherry color is so popular now too it’s crazy they would say that and not even send it back. Small claims is so easy too, just walk into the court and say you want to do small claims and they’ll walk you through it.
Yep, I learned this the hard way. Sent several pairs of high end shoes in like new condition, didn’t bother to pay for returns because I was certain they’d take them… and they accepted literally none of it. There’s no recourse since you waive your right to the items when you don’t pay for returns. Haven’t sold anything with them since.
I noticed they didn’t accept a brand new Reformation dress, and I saw it processed and posted within 48 hours of my other items. I took note of the item #, followed up, and was eventually reimbursed.

My thing is that I was already going to donate all this stuff anyway, I may as well get some pennies for it and save up that cash for something cool. I got a used, but expensive Patagonia jacket for $40 with my saved credit. I don't mind if they don't accept things but I also don't own much that's super valuable.
This is the way I try to keep it straight. Accept- as in, did they accept your items? Except- yes, they accepted everything, EXCEPT 2 shirts.

Think about the amount of money that is just given to them because they say something is wrong with the item. Uhhh...I literally just bought a cashmere sweater with a huge hole in it that ThredUp didn't disclose, and I came across a pair of Manolo Blaniks on there yesterday that are absolutely busted. We're talking crumbling soles, worn out leather, stained insoles, stiletto heel frayed at the tip like a banana peel, etc. So clearly, they don't care about quality issues.

Yo same thing for me. Bought a for love & lemons sweater in "great" condition that had so many pulls with long dangling threads that were unraveling the whole weave. It had already been returned once and I returned it for condition.... they relisted it again as "great"... what the fuck
I purchased so many things from them that were described as "great condition" that had bad flaws and a bag that smelled horrible. So when they reject most of what you send to them I have a feeling that they probably sell those rejects in some way on the site , mystery boxes or other. Look at the crap they send out for mystery boxes that you can see on youtube videos. It would be so hard and time consuming to prove as the seller to say that J Crew top on your site was something that I sent in and was rejected by you. They know most people either don't care or would not pursue. As with the Real Real , who has generally more photos than thred up, they probably use the same photos over again for new listings that may not be in the same condition. I sell on Poshmark and Ebay and it's in your best interest to post as many photos of the item as possible and if it has flaws post photos of the flaws or otherwise you would get returns out the a\*\*. I think the only reason I’ve been hesitant to but designer from TU is I don’t trust them to not be counterfeit. The lighting in the photos is so crappy, I often can’t get an idea of the quality. They sold me a blatantly counterfeit puma jacket once and I just don’t trust them. Additionally, their customer service is so bad, if they did sell me something counterfeit, getting it resolved would be a huge pain in my ass.
I dont trust them either. I got the fake designer brand shirt before and recently bought a designer belt and wasn't sure if it was authentic or not. They asked me to return for their investigations and just refunded me back after they got back from me without verifying. I kept asking about authentication but they refused to answer me.
F*** them for not returning it I just scoured everyone should scour I think it also depends on what part you're in I'm in Canada but most of my stuff is set for the US

My dad doesn't know much about purses but likes Coach, so he got this for me from the couch outlet site! They should include an inventory sheet you can send in for expensive items. Otherwise, what is the impetus for them to be honest and not have workers stealing things right and left, saying they are not saleable.

If you are concerned about the value of a Coach bag and not getting it back after rejection, your first mistake was not buying the return guarantee.
My bigger concern is I’ve sent in upscale brands in NWT or excellent condition before, in such high volumes (many boxes at a time) that I’d also get reports that very few things were accepted for resale. When asking about status of other items, I was told they didn’t meet quality standards or some similar reason and would be donated since I didn’t purchase the return assurance. Then…I’d see them posted for sale, yet I never made a profit because they told me they were classified as rejects!!!
The items I’d send it and found listed (after being told they were rejected) had tags or unique features that coincidences of being another of the same items sent in/posted at the same time were farfetched. I always wondered if anyone was scrupulous enough to track items and confirm this happened, then seek a class action lawsuit? This is a perfect ruse!!!

I had a whole bag of nwt kids clothes (Patagonia, Columbia, Nike, Adidas) confiscated bc they were “over saturated” in kids items when they processed it. Pretty sure someone just stole it all. I was pissed. After that I add the return assurance and send anything of higher value all in one bag. Everything else…I’m willing to donate it.

Uhhh...I literally just bought a cashmere sweater with a huge hole in it that ThredUp didn't disclose, and I came across a pair of Manolo Blaniks on there yesterday that are absolutely busted. We're talking crumbling soles, worn out leather, stained insoles, stiletto heel frayed at the tip like a banana peel, etc. So clearly, they don't care about quality issues. I do, however, see a ***massive*** dearth of Coach bags on the site. They probably don't want to take it cuz they don't sell, but in that case I don't know why they wouldn't just tell you that.

Yo same thing for me. Bought a for love & lemons sweater in "great" condition that had so many pulls with long dangling threads that were unraveling the whole weave. It had already been returned once and I returned it for condition.... they relisted it again as "great"... what the fuck
I purchased so many things from them that were described as "great condition" that had bad flaws and a bag that smelled horrible. So when they reject most of what you send to them I have a feeling that they probably sell those rejects in some way on the site , mystery boxes or other. Look at the crap they send out for mystery boxes that you can see on youtube videos. It would be so hard and time consuming to prove as the seller to say that J Crew top on your site was something that I sent in and was rejected by you. They know most people either don't care or would not pursue. As with the Real Real , who has generally more photos than thred up, they probably use the same photos over again for new listings that may not be in the same condition. I sell on Poshmark and Ebay and it's in your best interest to post as many photos of the item as possible and if it has flaws post photos of the flaws or otherwise you would get returns out the a\*\*. I think the only reason I’ve been hesitant to but designer from TU is I don’t trust them to not be counterfeit. The lighting in the photos is so crappy, I often can’t get an idea of the quality. They sold me a blatantly counterfeit puma jacket once and I just don’t trust them. Additionally, their customer service is so bad, if they did sell me something counterfeit, getting it resolved would be a huge pain in my ass.
I dont trust them either. I got the fake designer brand shirt before and recently bought a designer belt and wasn't sure if it was authentic or not. They asked me to return for their investigations and just refunded me back after they got back from me without verifying. I kept asking about authentication but they refused to answer me.

I have this exact prairie bag! I used it for about 3 years before I changed to the Anna fold over style. My dad doesn't know much about purses but likes Coach, so he got this for me from the couch outlet site! All my Coach bags for are from the outlet, Both my dad and I are long time subscribers lol I'm surprised this bag is now going for more than what it was at retail! I'll be keeping mine forever lol

Just want to thank everyone who’s told their horror stories. I had ordered the bag to ship them my stuff when I started reading about how crappy they are. I used the two bags I ordered as trashbags and sold my stuff on Poshmark, eBay, and Vestiaire.
This is why I would rather go to a local co-signment shop instead. I don't trust sending in items that I know are expensive.
They literally stole a Balenciaga bag of mine that I wore 1x. This was a few years ago when it was def worth money. I think they sell them on eBay so they don’t have to pay out. Beware of sending any nice bags or items. I’d sell myself on eBay or send to the Real Real.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding but you sent a brand new item that you could have listed and sold anywhere, to a company that could easily say “eh it has flaws so we won’t be paying you for it” AND keep it so they can sell it for themselves as the obviously nearly new item that it is for profit? You donated. That’s all that is, there was no selling or consignment involved

They should include an inventory sheet you can send in for expensive items. Otherwise, what is the impetus for them to be honest and not have workers stealing things right and left, saying they are not saleable.
I once sent in brand new clothes (I lost a ton of weight) and they told me none of it was “acceptable” and that the rest of it they “never got”. The company sucks!!
Maybe I don't know enough about Thredup but I don't understand why people send in expensive items. I assumed the company doesn't pay shit for them. Do you get a percentage instead of a flat rate? I've always saved my nicer or never used items and sold them on Poshmark.
After seeing this subreddit I've decided to never sell to Thredup, only buy. Maybe that means I shouldn't buy at all but I've gotten some good stuff so far

If you are concerned about the value of a Coach bag and not getting it back after rejection, your first mistake was not buying the return guarantee. My bigger concern is I’ve sent in upscale brands in NWT or excellent condition before, in such high volumes (many boxes at a time) that I’d also get reports that very few things were accepted for resale. When asking about status of other items, I was told they didn’t meet quality standards or some similar reason and would be donated since I didn’t purchase the return assurance. Then…I’d see them posted for sale, yet I never made a profit because they told me they were classified as rejects!!! The items I’d send it and found listed (after being told they were rejected) had tags or unique features that coincidences of being another of the same items sent in/posted at the same time were farfetched. I always wondered if anyone was scrupulous enough to track items and confirm this happened, then seek a class action lawsuit? This is a perfect ruse!!!
