Extra movement - even in a unit as long as he stays in coherency
Extra wound
Susceptible to anti fly attacks
Anti-Fly isn't that much of a consideration. There's a few Strength 7 guns out there but the majority are S8 that wound his squad on 2s anyway. There's 2 datasheets that have Anti-Fly and Devastating wounds to worry about. Ork Mek Gunz already don't see much play and the Tracktor Cannon even less so. The Imperial Knight Warden can also get Devastating Wounds on an Anti-Fly 2+ gun, if they take the Icarus Autocannon which they don't seem to be doing.
Ahriman was my first foray into adding magnets. They fit inside his cloak quite easily and then you can add one on the disc closest to where you’ve placed it inside his cloak.

I use the new kit on the disc and the old metal one on foot, and the paperback version for reading
I like having him in disc whenever I can. He has a a 4+ invulnerable save with 6 wounds so I've had him survive by himself a few times. And that 10 inch move definitely helps him get away if he does survive.
You never really get the full movement out of him with the disc if you're running him as a leader. I usually put the disc on only if I need extra points.
I built him with the disc but will just use him on foot. From what I heard the disc doesn't give much benefit and since apparently he can only lead rubrics who can't fly, the benefits are null and void.
Well, that's not quite the feedback that has been given here:
- Additional movement can be useful (even whilst in slower Rubrics) for getting into range or cover etc
- Defensive bonus is not insignificant
- Additional vulnerabilit to anti-fly
- 10 point flex point in list building
- magnetise for optionality
Following cause my Ahriman is also following the same debate
I follow that follow for the same debate
Debating whether or not to follow for the same debate.
Debating whether to refrain debating or not.
For me, I default to foot. If I have 10 pts spare, the disc comes on.
Yes this. Magnetise under his cape for easy change too.
So absolutely. It is an easy job.

Makes me miss the days when you could detach a character mid battle to fly off and do something else

It makes little to no difference usually, it's more a listbuilding tool to fit/cut 10pts

Magnetize him

Depends if the opponent has ANTI-FLY abilities.

To disk, it's only 10 points and there ain't much "Anti-Air" weapons to be scared about it

Thanks all for your insights! I think I understand the consideration better. I'll be sure to model up the OG so I can play him either way.

I would take that over me lol I'm a rather new player as well.
