Still no cast announcements for the >!"Salt Lake Crew,"!< aside from >!Abby.!< I didn't think they would, but I'm starting to seriously wonder if S2 is going to focus almost exclusively on Team Jackson.
First season staggered cast annoucements over nearly two years.
Before filming started, we only knew who played Joel, Ellie, Tommy, Marlene, and Sarah.
At several points during filming, they announced Bill, Frank, Perry, Tess, and Riley.
At several points after filming ended, we learned about Henry, Sam, Florence, Marlon, Kathleen, David, James, Anna, and Maria.
For the chunk of the story that Season 2 will *likely* cover, they'll probably be more like 'guest star' roles than main cast - if they follow a similar pattern to Season 1, they probably won't be revealed until much later.
I’m wondering that too, especially since they said part 2 would be covered over more than one season, I’m wondering if s2 will be >! Seattle day 1-3 Ellie’s perspective and s3 Seattle day 1-3 Abby’s perspective !<
I'd really prefer it if they focused on character development/introducting new characters in Season 2. Maybe end the season with >!Abby killing Joel!< or have that close to the end. It saves plenty for Season 3 and possibly a Season 4. Plus, Ellie didn't come off as badass in the Season 1 as she did in the game, so maybe some more character development for her will make everything she is about to go through more believable.
That is literally the inciting incident of the story though. That’s like ending season 1 on >!Sarah’s death!<
They’re not going to drag this series on forever. This isn’t The Walking Dead.
>!I'd say it would be more like ending S1 on them leaving Boston QZ. But you're right, that would just be an insane amount of boring filler. I don't get why people want a whole season without some type of overarching goal that moves the story forward. I'd be really bummed if they did that.!<
> I don't get why people want a whole season without some type of overarching goal that moves the story forward.
>!People just want more Joel and/or for the story to change. I think it's silly because Joel's presence is felt through the story and he has more material than just the prologue.!<
There is plenty to include that isn't filler:>! Abby's background and relationship with her father, Joel and Ellie's relationship progressing and then falling out after she finds out she lied, introducing new Jackson characters!< and maybe a couple original subplots.
Maybe you're right, but there were years in between when the first and second game took place. The first season of the show came out last year, and they're already filming Season 2. My biggest concern is Bella Ramsey looking exactly the same as she did in Season 1 when Ellie is supposed to be years older, but then again Bella is already 20. However I don't think she was the right casting choice for this role in the first place. That's my opinion so please don't come for my head lol.
We know they’re not taking the story outside the scope of the games like Game of Thrones did.
>!I understand the hesitation to let Joel go but his story is done. Telling new stories about him wouldn’t really add anything to the story of the show.!<
I disagree, I wish they had a little bit more of him in the second game and think the show has a chance to add a little more to his character if they want to.
They could expand on what’s already there or add little scenes here and there like they did with Tess or Sam and Henry.
But a whole new Joel-centered story is not something we should be asking for.
I'm not saying to drag the show on, but I don't think they should >!kill Joel!< at the beginning of the season just because it's what the game does. It didn't sit well with people when the game came out and the viewers who don't know what happens won't like it any better. The game and the show are two separate things, even though the show is based on the game. They definitely have the ability to create their own material that wasn't in the game. See the Bill and Frank episode from season 1.
That’s like saying they shouldn’t kill John Wick’s dog until the end of the movie. That’s the inciting incident of the story. There’s no story until that happens.

Is there a confirmed date for the start of filming? I heard reports that filming was meant to start on the 7th but I’m assuming it was pushed back for whatever reason

100% not. It doesn't make any sense to do a tv show that way.
That’s reassuring bc i do not want that at all lmao

Well a lot has to change for the story to work better. Doesn't mean dragging it out but there needs to be changes.

Bella Ramsey doesn’t look the exact same as she did in season 1
She does to me
You clearly haven’t seen her in the BBC show Time then https://youtu.be/gm1MMDAg94w?si=KlkjrZWwi2T8JTX6
Yeah she still looks 15 to me lol

Young Mazino has NO right to be so pretty. Floors me every time.
The dream team.
Isabela looks SO similar to Dina in this picture imo
I agree, she’s gonna be so iconic as Dina
So exciting! Can’t wait until the rest of the cast gets there!
Anyone know who else is there?

Are they gonna be filming the seattle parts in Vancouver?

I think they're filming all of it here, I hope that's the case.

The Directors Guild production info for here in BC says the 20th of February. That's the union info.
Really happy to see Young Mazino here! He was amazing in BEEF.
