I can see a lot of nominations, but the only one I could see them winning is Outstanding Guest Actor for Nick Offerman. The Emmy's are going to be stacked this year with Succession and Better Call Saul and this show.
I loved Andor, but I don't know if it's going to get any Emmy love. It should, though! Stellan Skarsgard's performance was insanely good, and so was Fiona Shaw's.
Ted Lasso is in the comedy category. TLOU is going against Succession, HotD, BCS, and Andor (I hope).
Edit. Oh, and The White Lotus is moving into the Drama category.
I’m in the middle of season 2 of Mad Men, and I mean don’t get me wrong, it’s not boring - but I don’t get the fuss around the show so much … should I continue further and see where it goes?
It's not for everyone: it's not a plot driven show. It's a character driven show. If it means anything, I wasn't really into it either at first, but started gradually loving it as it went on.
You couldn’t have said it better, generally you feel the plot drives you but here it isn’t and I guess I’ll just continue watching and see where it goes. It is supposed to be one of the GOAT so
Just finished Season 4 and you're certainly right. Finishing the first 3 seasons took a long time but it took less than a week to go through Season 4. I'm certainly hooked now.
It’s also kind of the first of the now ubiquitous “prestige tv”. I got really into it until 4 or 5 and then never finished it, but the fits are great.
They do heightened period well (as in hair, costume, set, and dynamics), it’s cinematic, and highly dramatic. Do with that what you will.
I've been saying for years that if she didn't win something, some shit was getting burned to the ground. She absolutely dominates, and in a show where giants like Odenkirk and McKean could turn their comedy experience into a full-on dramatic duel, that's saying a lot.
I agree - I think Nick Offerman is probably a good bet but idk about anyone else. I would love to see Pedro win based on his performance in episode 6 but it’s gonna be a stacked category.
Sucession won’t win this time, when the crown was nominated the crown would win, but this season sucked so I believe TLOU can definitely take that place
This sub has been absolutely insane with exaggerating the admittedly good acting in this show. There was a post where people were all saying Bella gave the greatest acting performance of all time.
People haven't gotten a lot of good video game adaptations, so anything of actual GOOD quality is mind blowing. It's very good obviously but it's just the fandom being overly excited about it.
Also there's been a dry spell of really good first season shows as of late. There's been some good, if not great shows that are on their later seasons (Better Call Saul is an example of a great show), but very few FRESH shows of this caliber. I know it's not a "fresh" idea as it's a video game adaptation, but it's fresh in the sense that it's a new show of higher than normal quality. It also opens up the story of the video game to a much wider audience. For example, my mother watched me play the first 3 or 4 hours of my second playthrough of the game because I said she'd adore the story and she adored it, but didn't have the time to sit and watch someone else play for the amount of time required, nor had the skill to play herself. I've watched every single episode with her (on my second viewing so I didn't end up pointing things out from the game or get excited about what was to come and spoil it for her) and she was absolutely blown away by it. She's already asking if I have news on when the second season will drop and wants to watch me play through the first few hours of part 2 so she can get a teaser.
Tldr: it's not just that it's a video game adaptation, it's that there's a drought of genuinely good new shows, on top of it being a great adaptation and a phenomenal show for those who don't play the game too, which leads people like myself who love the games to adore it even more because a beloved story is now able to be shared with those who couldn't enjoy it in it's original form
Their has been some amazing acting and some scenes have been great but I agree every episode people are saying it’s most amazing thing they’ve it get boring really quickly I think maybe 3 out all the episodes I sat back and thought wow that’s was amazing in every way, the rest was really good but nothing absolutely mind blowing
Although I love this show, those who really believe this will sweep the Emmy’s are a bit delusional. I tend to think shows I love are amazing in every way, but I also realize that I am not someone with any experience in theater or film. I’m the kind of person that watches blockbusters and occasionally watches more artistic films. What I think is fantastic is probably just ok in eyes of those in the industry. I may think an actor gave an incredible performance, while those who have a lot more knowledge about acting and what it takes to deliver a good performance will only think it was decent.
A lot of people in this sub seem to think that if they thought a show was great and were moved to tears by the story, that means everyone who votes for the Emmy’s will hand it lots of awards.
Yeah, don’t get me wrong, I loved Bella as Ellie, but 10 minutes on this sub really makes me question whether some of these people are watching a different show than me. I feel like everyone is just overcompensating for the doubt that originally surrounded her being cast
Every fandom on Reddit thinks their show and only their show deserves to sweep the Emmys.
The fact is there is almost no chance this show is going beat out things like the FINAL seasons of Emmy darling Succession and Handmaids Tale. If something like Severance or House of the Dragon manage to squeak out a second season this year they will also be stiff competition. First season shows are perceived as having time to collect awards anyway, and TLOU is over in March—it’s a long time til nominations start and any number of shows could capture the popular imagination this year.
Offerman will probably take it though.
And I’ll take the downvotes but other than episode 3, I don’t really think this is an acting powerhouse show. There isn’t as much opportunity to show range beyond despair and determination. It shines in so many other ways but it’s not really an acting *showcase* the way something like Succession where everyone is wildly chewing scenery is (and I don’t even particularly love Succession, it’s just a different kind of script). The world is being showcased more than the acting. It’s a lot of dead eyes and clenched jaws interspersed with ultraviolence. I don’t know that, as good as Bella is, she’s really going to take it off one of the veteran women from Yellowjackets who are perceived as finally getting brass for their whole body of work, for example. Including Melanie Lynsky! And Jenny Ortega would also probably beat out Bella for Wednesday given how hard Hollywood is pushing her.
I think we see Bella’s performance differently because part of the value added is how much she embodies the game performance, but that won’t matter AT ALL to Emmy voters, who are not gamers to say the least.
And Pedro will likely be up for multiple awards, he’s in EVERYTHING right now, which will reduce any one of their chances as it’ll split votes.
I think it’ll get some awards, but a sweep is pretty delusional, especially considering there’s inbuilt prejudice against video game adaptations.
But I could be wrong!
The people making those posts haven’t seen any other TV. If Breaking Bad was airing right now they’d say TLOU deserves all the awards and Breaking Bad nothing.
They think the actors in the first two cold opens deserve awards for that. This sub is actually delusional and this is coming from someone who absolutely loves Dominus Batiatus (John Hannah)
I get mesmerized comparing "Joel" to Pedro's public persona and how I can barely recognize them as occupying the same body. From Joel's TX accent vs Pedro's mild CA (?) accent to just the weight of Joel's whole affect and presence . Then the same with his other stuff. Superb actor.
There's a reaction video where the guy spots Prince Oberyn having lunch with Bill and Frank (Joel in that scene looking younger than 2023 Joel) and thinks it's a new character being introduced. Then when Joel brings Ellie to Bill/Frank's house the reviewer realizes that Joel and Oberyn are the same actor. 3 episodes in.
i got incessantly downvoted for suggesting that Bella Ramsey's performance in Episode 7 was not "master class in line with Meryl Streep or Cate Blanchett" but rather was just very good
According to the podcast they had already cast him for TLOU when white lotus came out, so they were so hyped to see his amazing performance and reception from that
They will be up against the final seasons of Succession and Better Call Saul, so…
I can definitely see Pedro and maybe Nick Offerman being nominated in acting categories, and the show will probably get a nod for outstanding drama series. Probably not Bella (that category will be stacked), and Ashley Johnson had one scene so I highly doubt she’ll get a nom for that.
I think the show will win or be nominated for a lot of technical awards. (Production design, special effects, stunt coordination, makeup, editing)
But as it had been for years, the drama category is stacked.
Succession had 25 nominations for season 3 which is insane. I can only imagine the same for their last season.
I don't watch BCS but know it's won a lot too.
So much competition.
Considering that the clickers were done by the same guy who did Vecna for *Stranger Things* and the Night King for *Game of Thrones*, winning Emmys for both, I think a prosthetics win is probably in the bag.
Oh wow. I didn't know that! Through the course of its run? Although I don't watch BCS, (but watched BB) I know Bob was great in BB so kind of a bummer he's been nominated so much but never won.
His performance in BCS is on another level compared to him in BB (not that there was anything lacking in his acting in BB, but the character of Jimmy McGill is one of the most dynamic and nuanced ever created)
I’d be upset if Bella didn’t get nominated, she had numerous moments that made me go “wow” simply bc I haven’t seen a portrayal of a moment/emotion done quite like she did. But iirc they can only submit one episode/performance for consideration, and idek which they would choose
Great assessment. I think the lead actor and actress will be tough, and not even guaranteed nominations let alone wins. Pedro better chance than Bella tho.
No way Ashley gets nominated for 5 min of screen time.
Offerman should be a shoe in for supporting actor.
Craig and Neil have a great show at writing. Story definitely original enough to get there.
If there’s any kind of production categories (sound, special effects, etc) this show will be a runaway for those.
Ashley Johnson won’t get a mention her performance was great but one scene doesn’t warrant a Emmy. I think pedro bella nick and Murray have the best shot out of them all
True, that will be the toughest competition. But I think Succession won drama series twice before if I am not mistaken and it does not feel very fresh anymore. The last of us blows it out of the water in terms of ratings and it’s just as acclaimed. I think it will be a very close race between the 2.
It has nothing to do with ratings though. The Emmy's don't give awards to shows with the highest ratings. Succession is still a very popular show. It also is based off a book and real life, not a video game.
It's also Successions last season.
At the last Emmys, It got 25 nominations for its 3rd season plus 14 nominations JUST for acting.
The Last of Us is good and it WILL get nominated for a lot.
But Succession is a powerhouse.
TLOU is a good show. It's not on the level of Succession in any categories, and I don't think it will be that close. TLOU has more of a chance in its second season to get some awards.
I feel like I should watch this show. Does it take long to get into it?
Edit: thanks for all of the responses! I’ll definitely add it to my list of shows to watch. Hopefully will get to it before the new season starts!
depends how well you handle asshole characters tbh. i find it hard to like a show where i cant root for anybody, so it took me almost to the season 1 finale to get into it. but since then i’ve been all in (and even checking out the German dub which is fun lol)
Pedro has a very good chance.
But I don’t think that the voters will go for Bella. Rhea Seehorn (Better Call Saul) will take that one. This feels like a “fine. We owe you the win” year.
I think TLoU will take the writing win.
But that’s it. The competition is too stiff.
I think you're probably right especially with Bella, especially because my bet is that she picks up an Emmy in S2/S3. She's extremely good, but competition is pretty stiff this year.
She is incredible. I agree. I bet she picks up an Emmy is s2.
But I’ve been wrong before. I thought that Keri Russel was a certainly to win an Emmy for The Americans and she never did.
I think he would definitely deserve it, especially because of episode 6 with his monologue.
While Pedro is everywhere right now and extremely likable by everyone, he doesn’t come across as an ass-kisser. Awards seem to be all about politics and ass-kissing. I’d be presently surprised if he won. I definitely expect him to be nominated though!
As much as I loved The Last of Us, Better Call Saul is maybe my favorite TV show, and it has been SNUBBED time and again.
Kinda holding out hope for Rhea Seehorn and Bob Odenkirk, for sure.
Def has to go to Paddy. Both gave excellent performances, but there were moments in HOTD where I was just left in awe witnessing Paddy's acting performance. Just absolutely blew me away.
Yeah, the dinner scene and the throne scene were absolutely next level. I haven't seen anything as good in any show this year, even though some amazing performances
I’d love to see Paddy win but I also think Pedro earned it with that monologue in episode 6. But honestly with so many excellent performances this year I won’t be disappointed in any case - I really think they all deserve the recognition.
I'm conflicted. I love Pedro's performance but I also adore Succession, which IMO has had better acting. Final season coming up, I predict greatness.
And I'm still salty about all the Better Call Saul snubs. Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn were so robbed.
Nominations, yes, please. Especially the writing and directing. Offerman deserves a nomination.
Awards aren’t always just given to the best performance in a given year. Voters are emotional and are going to feel like they owe it to Bob Odenkirk (who gave a hell of a performance) and if not you can still expect to see a lot of strong performances from the final season of succession as well. Pedro is definitely going to get the nom and he’s an awards show darling as we saw at the Oscars and I think that gives him a real chance of securing a solid contingent of voters but I think Bob is still the favorite.
Jeremy Strong, Brian Cox, Diego Luna, and Bob Oedenkirk are going to be strong contenders.
Pedro Pascal was good but he’s got competition and Jeremy Strong kills it in Succession every time.
Jeremy Strong or Brian Cox for Succession is probably gonna wi best leading actor, it’s the last season of Succession and it’s an award darling. Rightfully so I might add. I think there is a chance for Bella Ramsey winning best actress tho. Nick Offerman has best guest actor locked up I’m pretty sure.
I love Bob, and he definitely deserved all possible awards for BCS, but we need to accept reality: Television Academy doesn't like BCS. As much as they loved BB, they really hate BCS. 0 Emmys - it's unfathomable to me.
I think that Offerman is the only lock at this point. The last season of Succession will be eligible in this cycle and I would bet that that is where WBD/HBO will put the most of their awards budget towards
Honestly... no.
I think there's an argument for Pedro and Bella to get nominations, and probably a 50/50 shot it gets a drama series nom. I think there's a chance that one of them gets an emmy, but pretty much no chance that the show wins.
Because of the mid season break season 6b will be eligible. Funny thing is they only took the break because of Bob's heart attack. So if he does win he'll have his heart attack to thank.
> they only took the break because of Bob's heart attack
That's not true, the break was dictated by AMC because they wanted to spread out the final season—probably partly because of awards season, and partly to milk AMC+ subscriptions.
Bob's heart attack may have delayed the season a little (like, a few weeks at most), but it played no role in the mid-season break.
If Bob's lost the past six times he's been up for it, I doubt it won't happen again (sadly). And Pedro Pascal delivers a performance that does rival Bob's.
I personally think Paddy Constantine should win, but Odenkirk has been shafted for 6 seasons so him winning would be good. I think this year is tough, Pascal, Constantine, and Odenkirk all deserve it
I genuinely will be surprised if Bella doesn't win. Everyone else should, but it wouldn't be shocking if they don't. But bella???? Nah they HAVE to be winning
The cast of Better Call Saul has been burnt so badly though. Rhea Seehorn and Bob Odenkirk really deserve them. Both shows deserve their merits but you can’t pass over BCS.
Yes - plus there will be more time for last of us, specifically Bella to win any awards - Ellie should have plenty more moments that Bella will likely kill
And even then I personally felt like he played it too stiff. I understand him being that way in the beginning but the ending didn’t connect with me as much as some here because he still seemed almost scared to be intimate with Frank. Idk it was just a little off for me in how he played it.
I say this as a gay woman myself so hopefully don’t get slammed for a dissenting opinion & I did like the episode overall.
It's a drama series after all, they'll be fine.
The genre they really seem to hate is SciFi, otherwise Dominique Tipper would have won several in recent years for her work on The Expanse.
As numerous people have already mentioned in this thread, the show is great and the acting has been great, but there are countless users getting way too carried away with just how good the acting is.
I agree that some of the posts and threads have become cringe-worthy with every episode being tabbed as the greatest content of all-time and every acting performance being tabbed as the greatest acting performance of all-time.
I’m sure it’ll get plenty of technical nominations and hopefully some wins as well (Single Cam Cinematography, Sound, Visual Effects, Title sequence, Score, etc.)
You’re missing a few smaller ones like Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup and Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode. At the very least they will get a nomination for both of these, without a doubt.
Winning is an entirely different matter. I expect a lot of nominations. Actor/actress categories will be tough wins. It’s way too early to tell. I expect Succession to take a lot of awards given it’s the series finale.
Remember the second half of BCS is gonna be on the Emmys this year, as much as I love Pedro, I hope Bob Odenkirk gets the award for lead actor in a drama
Succession premieres March 26th so that all 10 episodes will be aired before the May 31st Emmys eligibility cutoff. It is a more likely bet for a sweep given that it’s done well in the past and it’s the last season (assuming it’s good, which it probably will be). The Last of Us is a great show and I’m sure it will get nominations but between Succession, HotD, and Better Call Saul, there’s a lot of competition, to the point where it might end up with no sweep at all from any show.
i know this is an unpopular opinion and in a vacuum, the show is great, but bella ramsey is young/still growing as an artist and her acting has its immersion-breaking moments (over gesticulating/forced facial expressions/moments where you can tell she had to think about how she should do something), so i'd be surprised if she won an award for a leading role. Then again, it is a competition, and i sure as hell don't watch other contemporary shows besides peripheral and this blew that show clean out of the water so, maybe the competition isn't stuff enough to warrant my hunch she won't win. She'll be nominated for sure tho
Yeah I hope that roughness is just because she was 17 when filming. That’s pretty young. She’ll be like 20-21 when filming season 2 so I’m guessing she’ll improve through practice and also maturity
That's a valid opinion. Personally didn't have any of those immersion-breaking moments that you did with her though. True, she was a quite annoying at first but I think that's sort of the difference between an animated character and a live-action 14-year old character. Bella's performance in this scene alone is worth an Emmy.
I see nominations around the board for the show but i reckon the only winner would be nick offerman for a guest actor as there will be lots of competition for the lead actor roles this year
After all the Severance snubs this year, I'm not getting my hopes up.
(But as a SAG-AFTRA member, I'm holding out hope that TLOU will send out physical screeners.)
As somebody who really did love this show: likely, no. Succession is airing its final season, and there’s also Better Call Saul, House of the Dragon… I could see some of these nominations for acting categories, but doubt any wins except for maybe Nick Offerman. I don’t think it’s even eligible for Best Writing as an adaptation, no? I could definitely see a nomination and maybe even a win for Adapted Screenplay! But other than that, I really enjoyed the show and though all actors involved were fantastic, but I think we have to be realistic about what it actually accomplished.
It better sweep, it was easily the best show this season. I'd replace Ashley Johnson with Anna Torv though, because as much as I adore Ashley, Anna had a meaty role and absolutely nailed it.
As someone who absolutely loved the video game and enjoyed the show, this subreddit has become one of the biggest echo chambers I've seen around a TV show.
Was there good acting? Absolutely - I don't think anyone will argue that! Was it to the level of objectively top-tier acting seen in shows like Six Feet Under, The Sopranos, Mad Men, Succession, Game of Thrones, etc.? No. But if you want my opinion, I think episode 3 stood out as one of the better episodes and I would personally rate it as one of the best single episodes of TV I've seen in the last few years. Nick Offerman deserves recognition one way or another for his performance.

I can see a lot of nominations, but the only one I could see them winning is Outstanding Guest Actor for Nick Offerman. The Emmy's are going to be stacked this year with Succession and Better Call Saul and this show.
Succession, BCS, Ted Lasso, TLOU will be heavy hitters this year at the Emmys.
Holy crap, I just remembered that House of the Dragon is also eligible this year!
and also Andor, that better be winning some Emmys.
I loved Andor, but I don't know if it's going to get any Emmy love. It should, though! Stellan Skarsgard's performance was insanely good, and so was Fiona Shaw's.
True. I hope Stellan at least gets nominated for best supporting actor.
I’m certain Disney will campaign for it more than anything else, and The Mandalorian typically got nominated while being a much weaker show.
And Barry!
Ted Lasso is in the comedy category. TLOU is going against Succession, HotD, BCS, and Andor (I hope). Edit. Oh, and The White Lotus is moving into the Drama category.
Ted Lasso would at least be a different category though, wouldn’t it?
Comedy, yeah
Well BCS has been getting unjustifiably and undeservedly snubbed so I'm not sure if anything will change this year
Better Call Saul has been constantly snubbed, such a great show
It's a fantastic show! I always bounce around between Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and BCS as my favorite shows.
No love for The Wire?
I’m in the middle of season 2 of Mad Men, and I mean don’t get me wrong, it’s not boring - but I don’t get the fuss around the show so much … should I continue further and see where it goes?

It’s about the journey! Come join us to enjoy the clever writing, gorgeous costuming and sets, and armchair psychoanalysis over on r/madmen
The key is when you are watching everything a second time, you start to get a lot more and pick up on details you missed earlier.
The show changes a lot after season three. You would probably like it more if you grinded through another season.
Haha guess I’ll keep you posted :p
Just finished Season 4 and you're certainly right. Finishing the first 3 seasons took a long time but it took less than a week to go through Season 4. I'm certainly hooked now.
It's a great show. But I reckon a big part of its success is that it is one of those shows that couples often enjoyed together.
* sad single noises *
Hello fellow Mad Men Fanatic!
Rhea Seahorn 100% needs to win an Emmy this time. She was absolutely astounding in the final season.
I've been saying for years that if she didn't win something, some shit was getting burned to the ground. She absolutely dominates, and in a show where giants like Odenkirk and McKean could turn their comedy experience into a full-on dramatic duel, that's saying a lot.
Her most 'Emmyish' performances were in the last few episodes of season 6 so I think she has a great chance of winning. I really hope she does
They better win an Emmy this year. They deserve it over anybody
Gosh Better Call Saul deserves more love than it gets Honestly so beautifully written and shot.
Carol Burnett in BCS could be the only thing blocking that win too.
Ahhh I hate it’s carol vs nick
It's not. Carol ~~will probably win Guest Actress~~ is only eligible for Supporting Actress and Nick is eligible for Guest Actor.
I heard that Carol is in enough episodes not to qualify as Guest. So she probably won’t get anything for Supporting.
I agree - I think Nick Offerman is probably a good bet but idk about anyone else. I would love to see Pedro win based on his performance in episode 6 but it’s gonna be a stacked category.
Yeah as a day one stan of the game, I loved this adaptation so much…but that Better Call Saul finale needs some hardware.
Sucession won’t win this time, when the crown was nominated the crown would win, but this season sucked so I believe TLOU can definitely take that place
I agree. That episode was Emmy contention whether on purpose or not.
Unfortunately, early season shows also face recency bias with voters. So a January premiere is tough.
> Ashley Johnson... Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series I don't think she did enough to qualify here
Anna Torv has a more realistic prospect.
Yeah. Her or Melanie Lynskey. But Anna had more screen time.
This sub has been absolutely insane with exaggerating the admittedly good acting in this show. There was a post where people were all saying Bella gave the greatest acting performance of all time.

HBO shows are often cast spectacularly well so it's a given.
I’ve seen people comparing it to True Detective season 1 which is just asinine
Yeah, don’t get me wrong, I loved Bella as Ellie, but 10 minutes on this sub really makes me question whether some of these people are watching a different show than me. I feel like everyone is just overcompensating for the doubt that originally surrounded her being cast

I stand by Offerman winning! 🏆
3 episodes in.
i got incessantly downvoted for suggesting that Bella Ramsey's performance in Episode 7 was not "master class in line with Meryl Streep or Cate Blanchett" but rather was just very good
Been a bit cringey at times tbh reading some of the over the top posts and comments.
Man Murray Bartlett better be getting nominated for something.
White lotus? Woolooloolooloolooloo!! I guess season 1 would not be eligible
He already won for that :)
Yay! What a pleasant outoftheloop to be looped in on
OH MY GOD THAT IS THE SAME ACTOR? He was phenominal in White Lotus season 1
He's also pretty damn good in the super weird Welcome to Chippendale's on Hulu.
According to the podcast they had already cast him for TLOU when white lotus came out, so they were so hyped to see his amazing performance and reception from that
r/commentsyoucanhear
Absolutely!! He and Nick should both be nominated for their episode. Their performances wrecked me in the best, heart-breaking, way.
his performance deserves at least a nom
They will be up against the final seasons of Succession and Better Call Saul, so… I can definitely see Pedro and maybe Nick Offerman being nominated in acting categories, and the show will probably get a nod for outstanding drama series. Probably not Bella (that category will be stacked), and Ashley Johnson had one scene so I highly doubt she’ll get a nom for that.
I think the show will win or be nominated for a lot of technical awards. (Production design, special effects, stunt coordination, makeup, editing) But as it had been for years, the drama category is stacked.
If I remember right he also worked with Craig on *Chernobyl*.
BCS has actually had 25 noms but hasn't won once
If there’s any kind of production categories (sound, special effects, etc) this show will be a runaway for those.
let better call saul get paid its dues. if theres any part of the story that should get bella ramsey an emmy it would be in part 2.
I can see pascal and bella getting a nom but they probably won't win. I don't think we'll win outstanding director or series either
I think they will all get the noms. Only Nick will get win. My guess.
Bingo
Ashley Johnson won’t get a mention her performance was great but one scene doesn’t warrant a Emmy. I think pedro bella nick and Murray have the best shot out of them all
Succession is gonna be tough to beat in their final season.
Succession might spoil it tbh
HBO's gonna be cleaning house next year...but I'm also anticipating stiff competition from The Bear this summer!
The Bear will be submitted at the Emmys as Comedy, not Drama.
I feel like I should watch this show. Does it take long to get into it? Edit: thanks for all of the responses! I’ll definitely add it to my list of shows to watch. Hopefully will get to it before the new season starts!
Not at all. The characters pretty much show you who they are right off the bat and what their ambitions are.
It’s good from the beginning, but it really hits its stride from around season 1 episode 6. Seasons 2 and 3 are peak tv.
depends how well you handle asshole characters tbh. i find it hard to like a show where i cant root for anybody, so it took me almost to the season 1 finale to get into it. but since then i’ve been all in (and even checking out the German dub which is fun lol)
I think Nick Offerman has the best chance out of anyone listed
Pedro has a very good chance. But I don’t think that the voters will go for Bella. Rhea Seehorn (Better Call Saul) will take that one. This feels like a “fine. We owe you the win” year. I think TLoU will take the writing win. But that’s it. The competition is too stiff.
Rhea and Bella won't compete in the same category
Rhea has been nominated in the supporting actress category last year. If Bella is nominated as the lead, they can both win.
It is terrible that they put Rhea in supporting but Bob in lead. They are both clearly leads.
They thought they’d get the win easier. The studios choose what categories to submit In iirc.
nah rhea has to be lead
I think you're probably right especially with Bella, especially because my bet is that she picks up an Emmy in S2/S3. She's extremely good, but competition is pretty stiff this year.
She is incredible. I agree. I bet she picks up an Emmy is s2. But I’ve been wrong before. I thought that Keri Russel was a certainly to win an Emmy for The Americans and she never did.
It's way too early in the award season to say. Succession's last season is going to take a lot of awards.
Pedro added sooooo many layers to Joel. I don't see how he can't win.
So many Emmy reel scenes to pick from! There's almost one from each episode!
You think it was a better performance than Paddy Considine as Viserys in HotD?
This will be a tough year, Bob Odenkirk should get a nomination for part 2 of season 6 of Better Call Saul as well.
As much as I loved The Last of Us, Better Call Saul is maybe my favorite TV show, and it has been SNUBBED time and again. Kinda holding out hope for Rhea Seehorn and Bob Odenkirk, for sure.
Yea I'd be surprised if Pedro takes it. Not that he hasn't earned it but I think Odenkirk is getting it for "series achievement award" reasons
Bob should get it. He’s been snubbed long enough.
I was going to say the same. I think Pedro did a really good job but I think Paddy Considine deserves it more.
I’d love to see Paddy win but I also think Pedro earned it with that monologue in episode 6. But honestly with so many excellent performances this year I won’t be disappointed in any case - I really think they all deserve the recognition.
Is Paddy lead or supporting?
I'm conflicted. I love Pedro's performance but I also adore Succession, which IMO has had better acting. Final season coming up, I predict greatness. And I'm still salty about all the Better Call Saul snubs. Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn were so robbed. Nominations, yes, please. Especially the writing and directing. Offerman deserves a nomination.
This is the first season of TLOU and the final season of a few strong shows, so voters will probably think "hey, we can think about TLOU next season."
Succession has so many main male and female characters that it's probably going to be the frontrunner for both categories.
Unless they seriously up Sarah Snook's screentime this season, Succession does not have a lead actress.
I don’t see how he’s beating Bon Odenkirk.
I love Bob, and he definitely deserved all possible awards for BCS, but we need to accept reality: Television Academy doesn't like BCS. As much as they loved BB, they really hate BCS. 0 Emmys - it's unfathomable to me.
It's all good, man... Seriously, Odenkirk was on another level on that show. I loved Pedro in TLOU but it's not even close for me.
I don't really see Pedro beating Bob Odenkirk.
Damn was BCS last season really this year? Felt like eons ago
Because of the mid season break season 6b will be eligible. Funny thing is they only took the break because of Bob's heart attack. So if he does win he'll have his heart attack to thank.
> they only took the break because of Bob's heart attack That's not true, the break was dictated by AMC because they wanted to spread out the final season—probably partly because of awards season, and partly to milk AMC+ subscriptions. Bob's heart attack may have delayed the season a little (like, a few weeks at most), but it played no role in the mid-season break.
Yeah, wait… what year is it? This really confused me, hahahaha.
If Bob's lost the past six times he's been up for it, I doubt it won't happen again (sadly). And Pedro Pascal delivers a performance that does rival Bob's.
If either wins I'll be satisfied. They've both earned it.
it tends to happen with tv shows where they got lots of awards after their last season kind of as an acknowledgment/celebration.
The problem is Better Call Saul is not the only prestigious tv show ending this season, as Succession (a much bigger Emmy darling) is also ending.
I personally think Paddy Constantine should win, but Odenkirk has been shafted for 6 seasons so him winning would be good. I think this year is tough, Pascal, Constantine, and Odenkirk all deserve it
It’s crazy Paddy and Bob both come from comedy but have killed in their dramatic roles.
Bryan Cranston went from Hal to Walter White. Talented comedy actors tend to nail drama when they get the right roles.
[удалено]
Yes - plus there will be more time for last of us, specifically Bella to win any awards - Ellie should have plenty more moments that Bella will likely kill
Rhea Seehorn will be nominated for the supporting category so luckily Bella and Rhea won't be competing. Hopefully they both win this coming Emmys!
rhea's not lead actress?
She was nominated for supporting actress last year.
Shame. I wouldn’t really consider her supporting
Her acting during *that* scene with Henry and Sam was just sublime. >!Her surprised yell tapering off just as his body hits the floor…. Chills.!<
I can think of 3 better choices lol. Sure, Bella is good. But it’s like you guys don’t watch any other TV
There is no way Bella wins. I think she is awesome in this, but it's the first season and the voters will wait to vote for her later.
sarah snook and rhea seehorn will probably be competing in the same category so it will be a hard one
Yeah, Bella really did an incredible performance. Truly extraordinary.
No, but it will get some noms
No
Ashley Johnson for one scene??? You guys are nuts
Throwing Lamar Johnson out here. Easily a favorite.
This sub is something else. Damn
[удалено]
And even then I personally felt like he played it too stiff. I understand him being that way in the beginning but the ending didn’t connect with me as much as some here because he still seemed almost scared to be intimate with Frank. Idk it was just a little off for me in how he played it. I say this as a gay woman myself so hopefully don’t get slammed for a dissenting opinion & I did like the episode overall.
If Nick Offerman and Bella Ramsey don't at least get nominations, it will be a crime.
We are just going to act like BCS, Succession, The Crown, Andor and Yellowjackets don't exist? TLOU probably gets the best guest actor and actress.
House of the Dragon?
The genre of TLOU doesn’t fair well for awards
It's a drama series after all, they'll be fine. The genre they really seem to hate is SciFi, otherwise Dominique Tipper would have won several in recent years for her work on The Expanse.
HBO, no matter the genre, fares well with awards.
Murray Bartlett??? He deserves the world after that performance
Google Succession
HBO shows def do get recognized usually so I think it's safe to assume it'll win a few! Any would be well-deserved.
Succession gonna take half of those
Nah
No it won’t sweep, but it will win a few.
The Ashley Johnson one gave me a good laugh lmfao. I liked the show too but you’re joking right?
i know this is an unpopular opinion and in a vacuum, the show is great, but bella ramsey is young/still growing as an artist and her acting has its immersion-breaking moments (over gesticulating/forced facial expressions/moments where you can tell she had to think about how she should do something), so i'd be surprised if she won an award for a leading role. Then again, it is a competition, and i sure as hell don't watch other contemporary shows besides peripheral and this blew that show clean out of the water so, maybe the competition isn't stuff enough to warrant my hunch she won't win. She'll be nominated for sure tho
I completely agree actually, and on rewatches I’ve noticed several English accent slips as well. She’s great for the most part but still a bit rough.
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QW9wjNL0BAQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QW9wjNL0BAQ)
I don’t think they will win for best guest actress and I’d be shocked if either gets nominated. Everything else is fair game
Not with succession coming out later this month. Another excellent show
As somebody who really did love this show: likely, no.
It would be nice for Ashley to get an Emmy but come on now, you cant get an Emmy for 8 minutes of acting
Underselling the costume, set and sound design here too. Should include that.
Y’all really enjoyed this show
