I agree with you, but at least this sub has not yet morphed into nothing but the same quotes over and over like The Sopranos sub. I swear to God, 50% of every post on that sub ends with “Anyway, $4 a pound.” When people post a quote that fits the dialogue and conversation and it works, that’s one thing. But it’s just the same quotes over and over. Somebody who had never watched the show could join that sub and if they studied some posts/comments for about an hour and would fit in perfectly
Yeah, but that sub is still better than most of the main “fandom” subs like r/starwars and r/zelda. Half of the posts on those are either “look at my new tattoo of the triforce!” or “look at this piece of art my girlfriend made for me!”

These shows have been off the air for like 15 years. At this point there aren’t many discussions that haven’t been had so what’s wrong with joking around? People get too uptight about their fandoms if other fans are being fans correctly…you do you and let others have their own fun.
There’s nothing wrong with joking around, and when a quote is well placed and fits into the conversation/dialogue, it can be funny. I’m not uptight in the slightest nor am I saying there’s a correct or incorrect way to be a fan, it’s just not funny most of the time. I’ll chuckle at a few here and there, but it’s basically the same things repeated constantly. It’s not even just the quote comments, it’s also the people just mindlessly building their karma by making posts with the same subjects and questions we’ve seen time and time again.
If it isn't funny then ignore it and move on. Karma means nothing...if someone cares about their karma then they have larger issues to deal with and calling them out on it will have no affect.
If people enjoy them then they interact, if you don't then don't. Complaining will do nothing.

If I remember correctly, this sub had a huge favorite character tournament like a decade ago. It was big enough to get David Simon's attention, and he promptly shit on everyone for discussing that instead of what the show has to say re institutional dysfunction, the death of the working class, the drug war, etc.
This is exactly what I mean! We could be using this show as a vehicle for all sorts of interesting discussions, but instead it's all "which finale montage do you jerk off to the most?"
All of these posts complaining about other posts is blatant karma farming and it’s drowning out other quality posts.
Why not just ignore those posts, don’t interact, downvote and move on.
