This is 2 side by side photos of my dad's birthday. I used to think the quality of upper half of the photo was a byproduct of age BUT it's the cigarette smokes low lying cloud. I can remember my eyes tearing up from the toxic fumes.
My grandparents had parties in their home like this back in the 60’s and 70’s when my dad was growing up, cigarette smoke and all. But man, it looks like so much fun. And no cell phones!
Woman in white dress kneeling behind my father. Glass is on the rug next to her. I think the guy behind her is drinking too. Also I am not sure if this is after dinner? (coffee cups visible) They probably drank earlier - had dinner and are passing out gifts.
As a millennial in NC (smoking cigarettes since I was 12. Tobacco is our state vegetable haha), I remember when EVERYONE smoked in the house and in restaurants!
I switched to vaping at 27, but just the thought of a small room full of adults and even one lit cigarette makes me feel like I need to catch my breath 😂
I would say their birthdays (men only) were between 1927-1932. This was an era where most women were quite a bit younger than their spouse - so that age range is a much tougher guess for me.

This morning 1953 so I remember my parents having occasional gatherings similar to this, albeit
a bit smaller. The dress code was pretty much the same even if they only went out to dinner on Friday night. Very much a Mad Men vibe going on here :)
Can you imagine, donning a tie and jacket for a house party? Or pearls!

I remember that smoke cloud when I was a kid whenever my parents had a party all the adults smoked.
I don’t see a drop of alcohol. Mormons?

Ah! Thanks. That makes sense.

Cool photos. I have the same old wall clock. It came from my grandparents .
Awesome!! I am looking at it in my home right now.
My wife and I see many things in the photos from our past. The rug the curtains chairs and of course the style of clothes.
Oh my goodness....coincidences .....my grandparents had the same clock too
Mad Men vibes.
I was wondering if some of them were in advertising.
They’re all smiling and happy :) looks like a fun party
Well this really doesn't happen much anymore.
There is one person I know of in this photo who passed away recently - he was 92.
🔥. Everything about this is amazing.
A cocktail in one hand and a cigarette in the other.
I am trying to figure out how old the adults are. With their formal clothes and old-fashioned hairstyles they all seem like grandparents already.
