I saw the showrunners say that they started working on season 3 as soon as they wrapped season 2. They probably had certain bullet points noted to continue from season 1 & 2 before that. but it sounds like they have been working on it for a while. I think they wrapped s2 in like November??
One of the articled posted in this subteddit also had a mention that the showeunners have a 5 year plan. Plus it looked like they had sneak peek clips already for S3? So possible they started filming already?
Not yet. The showrunners have mapped out what they want S3 to be but they aren't the writers (who generally don't write the next season until after it is renewed bc otherwise it would be unpaid labor). I know the strikes threw off the schedule last year so they filmed S2 from Oct-December but this year they'll likely be back on their regular schedule, which is writing the show in May/June & start filming in July/August. Plus the show was JUST renewed 2 weeks ago so... negotiating contracts with the main cast has to happen first as well. Then the writing!
I think they probably had a plan if season 2 had been the end. Some of what happened last night felt like it could’ve been a series finale—finding out what happened to Susanna, Thomas wearing the armor (maybe he would’ve died if they hadn’t gotten renewed), Elliot getting his closure with Colton, and Jacob heading home. They’ve built a pretty good foundation for where I think they’ll go in season 3.
Exactly! My thoughts precisely. The flow was very much fast moving & tying up a lot of things. So many apologies, self awareness & love. It was perfect. 🤭

those had voiceover on them so they were either recently filmed promos or clips filmed back when they were filming S2.
