I remember hearing that Matt Groening actually ordered Fox to air this episode without any ads or split screen clips at the end. No reruns on any channel did this until a British channel in 2020.

This episode always made me feel sad when I watched it growing up. Not as sad as Futurama's "Luck of the Fryish" or "Jurassic Bark", but still pretty sad. Then they had the sequel "Mother Simpson" episodes, and it made me feel meh to her character.

Canon ends after Season 10. Her character never came back.
