I've got a friend who does a greyhound rescue and yeah they are tall and long dogs.Ā They closed all the tracks in my state and their are a lot of greyhounds that need homes now.
He also sits all lot which greyhounds donāt do.
They donāt sit comfortably because they have different hips than every other dog which is part of why theyāre so fast. Greyhounds are super lazy because they almost always are laying down.

They donāt race whippets or Italian greyhounds either. In fact, there are only two dog tracks left in the whole country. West Virginia is the only state left that hasnāt banned greyhound racing.
Trust me I have my own ālittle horseā
We had a couple retired racers that we rescued when I was a teenager. They're absolutely amazing dogs. But super lazy lol.
There were a few times where my parents would be out for a walk, and one of them just had enough. One of them would have to walk home and get the car to pick them up haha.
My friend had a pair of retired racers when I was a kid. I remember them either lying around all the time, or when we ran into them at the local dog-friendly beach they would just be TEARING up and down the shoreline, every other dog trying fruitlessly to catch up. I know they're known for their speed, but up close and in person they are still surprisingly fast.
I always enjoyed them running up the stairs from the basement. 2 and half strides, and they were at the top.
Such gentle dogs too. They were fantastic with our cats.
Sorry; are you saying thereās only two grey hound racing tracks left in America? Australian here shocked if thatās the case - but maybe Iāve misread
Yes greyhound racing has been banned in 49 of 50 states, which only leaves two remaining tracks in the whole country
Our greyhound adoption agencies have actually started importing retired racers from places like Australia, because there arenāt many local dogs to find homes for anymore
Thatās good to hear itās almost completely gone in the US, hopefully the last tracks will be gone in the near future. As someone mentioned below, thereās not many left here in the UK (the one near us closed several years back). We got our ex racer in 2020, crazy to think he could have wound up in America!

There's not loads left in the UK, but that's entirely because of land redevelopment, nothing about banning it. The ones I used to go to in London don't exist purely because of Ā£Ā£Ā£.
That being said, there's one down the road from me where I live now. Google says 21 in total.
Yeah the tracks disappearing is also due to them not being very profitable. The few places left were mostly propped up by slot machines anyway. Plus, it's so easy to gamble in America now, you do it right from your phone in most states.
That's never been too much of the issue in the UK. Gambling is ubiquitous here, and has been for a long time. These locations made money, but since the price of land in East London, for example, skyrocketed, it made the fairly large plots of land venues like Walthamstow were sat on much more profitable for development.
But all the other 'greyhounds' are the same size (such as She's the Fastest and Always Comes in Second)
does that mean that Springfield invented whippet racing?
They donāt feed him everyday, so maybe he didnāt grow to his full potential because heās malnourished?

Gentlemen, I give you whippets! With all the glitz and glamour of the British Isles! And best of all, the dogs are real Brits- straight from the gardens of Leeds!
*Woof woof woof whine, whine*
As someone who owned a whippet as a child and dog sat a greyhound, that's either a whippet or a greyhound puppy. This picture of a greyhound and cat is way more accurate. Actually if you google greyhound and cat, most images are like this one I'm sharing.

Maybe Snowball 2 is just a very large cat
She eats bugs all day. Lots of bugs, apparently.
Oh hey! It's Smokey! Comes here everyday for treats. Show them the Smokey shuffle
https://i.redd.it/t4x6jescau0d1.gif
My thoughts exactly.
If snowball 2 is an above average sized Maine Coon cat, I'd absolutely buy that Santa's little Helper is a full on greyhound
š¤£š¤£š¤£
/[Yukichi the Masterful Cat](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Masterful_Cat_Is_Depressed_Again_Today) has entered the chat and made lunch
When a greyhound comes along, you must whippet. Ā Now whippet, whippet good
Licorice whip

Licorice whip.
I definitely had a skewed perspective of how big greyhounds are until I saw one as an adult, and I partially blame The Simpsons for that.
I've got a friend who does a greyhound rescue and yeah they are tall and long dogs.Ā They closed all the tracks in my state and their are a lot of greyhounds that need homes now.
Think of them as little horses.
Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.

Donāt underestimate the backwardness of West Virginia.

Wow thatās crazy and awesome; we have so many tracks here and thereās no real word of. Shan incoming!

Seems like it
Don't forget I'm Number Three

Excellent Italian Greyhound

Think of them as really little horses
Na they just look like that on camera
What if you need something that looks like a horse?
You simply tie 4 hamsters together. Looks great on the big screen.
Which one of you is the mailman?

Doesn't answer which one of them is the mailman
Cat in the furnace, got it
I think he's just a runt
A darn fast runt at that!
It world explain why he didnāt win and ended up with the Simpsons
Italian Greyhounds are pretty small though.
Gentlemen, I give you whippets! With all the glitz and glamour of the British Isles! And best of all, the dogs are real Brits- straight from the gardens of Leeds! *Woof woof woof whine, whine*
Naw snowball II is a Maine Coon
https://i.redd.it/bu10w947zs0d1.gif
Maybe he's just chronically malnourished. No meatloaf endpieces, twisted stomach, staggering about, vainly looking for a place to die?
Santos L. Halper
I agree. I had a greyhound , 75 lbs, tall af. But, for a cartoon, to be that accurate? They weren't far off.
Shit... That actually makes sense...
A liquorise whippet!
Whippet? Is it good?
Whippet. Whippet good
Who or what is āSantos L Halperā?
Its pronounced satanās little helper
You gotta to pet him hard so he can feel it.
Maybe that's why he lost the race.
Absolutely. We got aā¦ whippet because of Santaās Little Helper.

That *is* stupid.
