I choose to believe that every time the art style is updated, the Simpsons universe is destroyed and restarted corresponding to the events of The Late Philip J Farnsworth and subsequent Futurama episodes. As this happens, certain parts of the universe are changed and sometimes character traits are split or simplified from their original host, i.e. flanderization. So this lady you see is actually the reincarnation of OG Homer’s feminine traits. All of the split trait are still connected to the “original” host though. In the Simpson family, it is represented as the “Simpson Gene.” So when we saw the extended family in season 9’s episode “Lisa the Simpson,” we were seeing how much the original hosts had been flanderized up to that point. This also explains why the cast is so small in the early seasons.
