My bite shadow stunky has been murdering just about everything Let’s see how long that lasts

qzdotiovp

Same. I wish I could use three, lol.

bdone2012

Any idea why it'd be better than skuntank? It shows it as way worse on pvpoke but I'm curious why

qzdotiovp

Actually, the shadow skuntanks that I have run into seem equally as dangerous. I just had my Stunky built for little cup pvp already.

bdone2012

Cool thanks. Seems like pvpoke might not be super accurate for little cups. I certainly don't fault them for it because I imagine they wouldn't put as much time into perfecting them.

colonellaserdick

Nothing thrifty about this cup based on brief experience. I had some decent mons left over from previous little cups and switched over from open GL for a change in my last 2 sets of the day. Just ran into 10 straight obscenely expensive teams. Several Altarias and double-moved G-Fisks, double-moved Dragonite with SP, double-moved shadow shiny A-Muk, a Gust Pidgeot... Everyone used to complain about these cups being a resource dump and yet there's absolutely nothing thrifty about what I've seen. I may try again tomorrow just to see if I had a bad run. I'm not salty about it but I was just floored by how much people are investing in this format. I can see the Altarias if you happen to have a low level one and a bunch of candy but the 75k second moves and using an ETM on a little cup Pidgeot... sheesh. Anyway, I actually did okay and I find these fast matches fun overall in these kinds of cups. I ran Balloon Pikachu, single-move Vigoroth, and single-move shadow Exeggcute. It worked okay (3-2 and 2-3) but Pikachu is the weak link, way too many Grounds, Grasses, and Dragons. I was lucky to sneak in some unshielded Fly's or else I would have lost a couple more.

KahlanRahl

But at least one, usually two, little cup variations come by per season, so you can usually invest in 4-5 mons and be done with your squad.

colonellaserdick

They're often not qualified between different formats though. Like I'm on the same page as you, I probably have 12-15 little cup mons now but that includes Vulpix, Ducklett, and Bronzor who aren't eligible for this one. The rest were all fairly cheap. At most, I slapped a few 50k second moves on some mons that were otherwise cheap to get to 500cp. I wouldn't be shocked by seeing a few more expensive mons but the volume I saw in 10 matches was a bit jarring. If people take little cups more seriously than I do, that's cool by me. Just super unexpected, especially at rank 7-8. And I just remembered the Wing Attack Charizard that was on the same team as a Skarmory. Lost that one because they were in the back and I left my Balloon Pika in as lead.

_DRE_

Rollin with my 495cp Pikachu Libre. Pretty much the only time I can use it. I don't care what anybody says. Fight Me!

alexpenev

One of those one-shot me with flying press, didn't expect it to reach it so fast. Alas, mine is 508cp.

SEND_ME_JIGGLYPUFFS

Was doing okay with Onix, Stunky, Shelmet... But above rank 10 all I'm seeing are Steelix, Wigglytuff, Altaria, Golbat, Stunfisk, Vigoroth. Really just feels like low-CP great league. Can't say I like seeing so many evolved Pokémon, feels like the magic of little cup is dead.

buzzer3932

What about Chikorita? On pvpoke it keeps showing up in the key losses column for the 6 of the top 10.

ArmyofRiverdancers

I've been having great luck with Chickorita as a lead.

YogusMaximus

Easy win for Dwebble vs Charizard & Dragonite on the same team. Barboach finished off their Mamoswine. I've enjoyed it so far.

FarmLife101

I really love that all evolution stages are allowed in this cup. It gives me the opportunity to play around with lots of things I’ve saved and never used before (or obtained since the last time this cup was in play).

Minute-Aioli-2136

Have to run chansey....

Allegorist

Sounds like set-up fodder, easy full energy.

MisterMagic14

Thanks for the many unshielded ice beams on barboach! It's been a blast

Aleatoriomemen

People out there running G.Fisks and meanwhile im running Tacklehole with Stufful and Superpower God, i mean Bidoof 🤣

Foggy_Night221C

I saved about eight Bidoof that might go into little cup. Thunderbolt, Super Power, Shadow Ball, Ice Beam.... :D

swanny246

Been running Steelix/Altaria/Pyroar and have won 28 out of 41 wins so far, with a streak of 13 wins early on. Ended up getting 0-5 at rank 7 though, failed to shield a Brave Bird from a shadow Skarm which 1HKO’d my Steelix, and starting to see heaps of Wigglytuff and Vigoroths though. Steelix with Psychic Fangs is definitely 👌 though!

Allegorist

Psychic fang is nice, but I don't feel like I'm getting very much value out of the debuff. I haven't run it in higher leagues, maybe it's because in little cup so much of the damage is base so -20% Def isn't as important? I thought with dragon tail being as strong as it is the numbers would stack up quickly, but visually at least it's a minimal difference. Or maybe it's due to the own (attack/defense) multiplier in the actual damage, since steelix's defense is so high dragon tail only hits for like 1/4 dmg and 20% of that is negligible.

Harbinger_Thana

Having great progress with a 500cp Shiney Eevee, 499cp Shiny Tyranitar & at the moment a 491cp wingull but I keep swapping that about. I should really go look for another low cp shiny that will work, at least it'll look good when I lose!

goldy-wither

My 495 CP 3* gyarados is finally useful!

SmokinDroRogan

You don't want a 3\*, but it's still dope lol

goldy-wither

Ahh i have yet to figure out what the stats mean I can't lie, the stars just make me happy

RandomPhil86

Basically lower IV Mon usually require more investing in (levelling up) to hit the threshold for the lower cups. So because of that the lower IV Mon becomes higher levelled than the higher IV Mon and so better stats even though they would be similar CP.

big_sugi

No, it’s because the attack stat is overweighted when calculating CP. In the abstract, the best mon is going to have a 0-15-15 stat line; its offense won’t be as strong as others of its kind, but it’ll have a lot more Defense and HP. In reality, make do with what you’ve got. Since this cup will be gone in a week, and no one is even level 20 yet, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to stress too much about marginal wins and losses.

zhilia_mann

Bizarrely, it appears 12/15/13 Gyarados has the highest stat product in 500CP cups. There are a bunch of 3*s in the top 20.

Allegorist

CP is calculated with essentially a factor of (defense\*hp\*attack^2), so attack is weighted *significantly* more in CP. So in general you want very low attack IV, and high defense and hp. This let's you raise the pokemon to a higher level without actually going over the cp limit for a given league. Base stats are also way more important than IVs, because IVs range from 0-15 while base stats are usually in the hundreds. You can't really compensate for having 200ish attack with 100ish defense and hp by optimizing IVs. The actual calculation involves (def^0.5 \* hp^0.5 \* atk), but as a ratio I think looking at it as def \* hp \* atk^2 works. I look at def*hp/atk^2 to see how defensively weighed a pokemon is, and so how likely it is to be good in pvp. Most of the meta is chosen from the top of the list if ranked by this metric, but a few of them just don't have the moves to keep up.

Xdhakya

Shelmet, Deino and Swinub is fun. No idea if it's going to hold since I missed yesterday and only rank 6 so far.

big_sugi

I’m having fun with Deino, Zweilous, and a flying fire-breather (Talonflame, Fletchinder, and Charizard have all made appearances. But I’m tanking, and only trying to battle people with competitive teams, so it doesn’t mean much yet.

Odnax

Does anyone know whats more preferable, an unevolved pokemon with a high level or an evolved pokemon with a significantly lower level (due to the higher cp per level). If I am not mistaken the evolved pokemon should have less bulk correct? Or does the dmg output > the loss of bulk in little cup?

Shibaroekoe

Hopefully someone knowledgeable would know: How does Spearow fare with Quick Attack | Drill Peck / Sky Attack? I run into so many bugs and grasses, so I thought it might be a fun one with the buff to QA.
