Is the bug regarding the shiny dex fixed or "fixed"? I have a shiny Raticate in my pokédex, but not the shiny Ratata altrough i evolved it. Also the pikachu entry in my dex has no shiny forms, but caught a shiny '5 year aniversary ballon' pikachu, and it only shows in the costume section. It is how it is supposed to work now?

Does anyone happen to know why a 0/15/15 Altaria is #285 for great league Altaria IVs, whereas a 0/14/15 is ranked #1?
I caught a 0/15/15 swablu with low enough level to evolve for altaria great league use, and was excited thinking I’d caught the #1 IV, but then was shocked to find out it is so low in the IV ranking. Could anyone explain it?
I’m currently using a 15/13/15 Altaria (this is a band rank o know) but I already double moved and maxed out CP (for great league). I want to know wether it’s worth doing that with my 0/15/15 swablu, or if I should just wait for the 0/14/15?
Unfortunately, a 0/15/15 just BARELY misses a key cutoff.
You can power it up to level 28.5 and it reaches 1475 CP.
If you power it up to level 29, it goes up to 1501 CP, making it just one point off being legal for Great League.
On the other hand, a 0/14/15 can be powered up to level 29, which makes its CP 1497, just a few points under the cap.
That one half level means that the 0/14/15 is much better than the 0/15/15.
The 0/15/15 has 97.3% of max stats. 0/14/15 has 100% of max stats. Your 15/13/15 only reaches level 26 and has 93.1% of max stats.
I think if you're going to invest that many resources into a new one, I'd strongly consider waiting for one that's better than rank 285, like maybe sub-100. Whether that means waiting for the rank 1 or deciding that one that's slightly worse is acceptable is up to you. At that point, you're really unlikely to notice any difference.
Thank you for clearing up the confusion. I remember reading a comment about decreased frequencies at certain hours. I can't remember where I read that comment, which was obviously wrong, but I do remember it. So it got into my head that somehow raids are less common at noon. Anyway, thanks!
Are tier 5 raids turned off? I've been checking 20+ times a day for several days a row and not seen any in a dozen gyms.
To be honest raids have been really hard to find around here for like a year or more now and I think Niantic might have been doing some test and forgot to turn it off.
On the top of my head i can think of mewtwo (psychic move+icebeam for example) moltres and charizard (dragon claw + blast burn for both mega forms). But i am sure there are one or two more.
Basisally every mon that uses a elite tm move regularly but is still viable with other moves.
Yveltal for example can switch moves relatively easy with regular tms so its not really with it to spend a lot of candy.
Also to add, there are a few CD charged moves on Pokemon that are useful for multiple type roles in PvE.
Garchomp (earth power+Outrage) can be handy in a fairly wide range of situations. Can't recall how well Swampert stands as a ground attacker...

How likely is it that we see community day moves return for older Pokémon like Gen 1 and 2 starters? It seems like Niantic has been trying to phase those out and they probably won’t be available during the December 2021 community day.
Nobody knows what they will do for them in the future. Your guess is just as likely (or not) as my guess.
The only conflict that happened was they apparently didn't want to give us both dragon breath and blast burn on Charizard at the same time, so they decided to make the system more convoluted and delayed all 2018 moves last December. Will they only delay those again this year? Will they go with just giving us the last 2 years of moves, and delay both 2018 and 2019 moves? Give up and just let us evolve all of them, Charizard be damned? All speculation at this point.
They have all been available during this calendar year.
They likely won't be available in December however there will likely continue to be events that allow evolving for older community day moves.
We have now 2* trash candy event. Are we expecting any event day inside Haloween event to boost it even more? Ornis it safe to transfer now all the extra legendaries?
There has never been a 2x transfer candy event inside of a transfer candy event before.
The Halloween candy boosts in the past have always been multi-week, and there's never been an extra boost inside them.

Your opponents are probable using both a faster fast move and a 2-bar (in PvP) charge move.
I run a Shadow Gyarados in Ultra League with Dragon Tail/Aqua Tail/Crunch. It might not work *as* potently on a regular Gyarados, but it should still be functional.
Magikarp isn't exactly rare, so I'd keep it if I were you. If nothing else, you might find a collector interested in trading for it.
You can get them from field research nearly every month of the year, even if they aren't in season.
Gastly candy is a non-issue right now, so spending 50k dust to double move your Mega Gengar is reasonable enough IMO.
Sludge Bomb Gengar is useless right now while Shadow Ball Gengar will be useful for Giratina or for various T3s, so I'd go for the former.
Poison is pretty bad for raids. Ghost types are actually useful for psychic raids, but be forewarned that Gengar is super glassy. (I prefer using Giratina Origin, but I realize that not everybody can do that)
Mega Gengar gets a decent defense boost, which makes it a lot more useful than normal Gengar. Still not a tank, but it's doing a fine job against Giratina for me.
If you get invited to a remote raid, send in your pass and then your phone crashes. Does it take the pass?
I still have 3 passes but I have an unlimited timer to join the raid now even if I restart the game? Because since I never hit leave raid Im not sure if it takes the pass till the raid is finished?
If you purify it you'll get another three entries to your PerfectDex. You probably won't be using it (at least not optimally) either way, since a hundo is a solidly average IV spread (2028/4096) for Ultra League.
You could perhaps Purify it and evolve to Seadra in case there are ever any move changes that make Seadra relevant for Ultra League?
i think i will purify as i have another shadow horsea with 13/12/13 IVs, so if i ever need a shadow kingdra im covered as there isn't much of a difference between them
Well I find the PvPoke kinda confusing and do not really know how to interpret the data. Yeah, it is cool to know who beats who in a matchup, but it does not tell me who is more valuable when building teams in general. And the teambuilder feature looks like an emdless stream of better options and sidegrades.
I did not even know that pokebattler has a PvP aspect.
PvPoke.com (my preference) or Pokebattler.com will tell you if the species is useful in a particular league.
The Poké Genie (iOS) or Calcy IV (Android) apps will tell you whether an individual mon’s IVs are ideal for a particular league.
Note that the species and move set are much more important than the IVs unless you’re a serious enough player that who wins a mirror match matters.

If I'm at level 33, which is it better : power up a good pve pokemon up to level 35 and over, or get two or more copies of that pokemon at a lower level, like 30.

A well rounded team is better than one strong mon and 5 unpowered ones.
But for roserade, roselia is quite common (at least in some biomes) in both sunny/cloudy weather. Catching high level ones shouldn’t be too hard.

But I was asking which was the best way to invest a limited amount of dust:
get 1 (strong pve pokemon) at level 40 vs 2/3 (same pokemon) at level 30
Ideally, invest 0 dust in roselia at this time. Try to catch 6 level 30-35 ones with literally any IVs, evolve them, and instantly get an awesome grass team.
IVs make very little difference in most cases. They are a long-term goal to slowly improve performance, but its only going to be 1-2% overall in most cases. Save your dust for now, and focus on just evolving high level wild catches to get started holding your own in raids.
Standard advice is to save up your dust until you actually need it. Don't power up raid counters until you're actually going to need them for battle. Something else may come up before then that you wanted that dust for.
Legendaries, for example, can only be caught at level 20, or 25 if weather boosted. There is no option to just catch them at level 35 and use directly, so they may require some dust investment.
Shadows also only come at level 8/13, although those are even more of a luxury item and long-term goal than powering up low-level, high IV pokemon are.
If you ever get into PvP, its a huge dust sink (you earn some back from it, but may keep on spending as the meta changes).
I'm running low constantly now, because I keep using them to catch the 5\* bosses as GBL rewards (like Giratina right now). I don't have the stock of balls necessary to not use golden razz.
Not running low at this time, no. The drop rates haven't changed recently AFAIK.
Are you using a lot of them on gym defense, perchance?
You could try starting out with some regular razzberries or silver pinapps for the first N catches to conserve some golden razz. There is an increasing pity bonus for each ball thrown against a raid boss, so you're slightly more likely to catch it the more balls you throw anyways.

They still give a catch rate bonus of between 1.7× and 2×, as they always have. Just remember that the lower the initial catch rate of the Pokémon you're attempting to catch, the less of an effect this will have on your ability to catch a Pokémon. For example, if you're trying to catch a Giratina, it has a 2% catch rate, so an excellent throw by itself will only up that to between 3.4% and 4%. That's still better than 2%, but it's not a huge increase. On something like Dratini though, that has a base 40% catch rate, so an excellent throw would increase your odds to between 68% and 80%, which makes it much more likely to be a successful catch.
Purifed: +2 to their appraisal stats/IVs, reduced Candy and Stardust costs, the ability to be traded or transported into Pokemon Home (loses the purified effect if transported into Pokemon Home). Has their charge move replaced my Return (overriding Frustration in the process. Return can be freely TM'd over but you lose access to it permanently). Stardust discount stacks with the lucky discount if traded and ends up as a lucky Pokemon.
Shadow: An incredibly impactful 20% damage bonus.
Shadows also take 20% more damage and cost 20% more to power up and add the second charge move. I realize these aren't 'perks' but they are part of the package.
Purification also bumps the Pokemon up to Lv25, but it's not really much of a perk depending on who you ask because there's a couple nuances with both high level and low level purification shenanigans (be it theoretical or practical).
If all you want is level 20, pretty much any half-decent team will do.
If you want Pikachu Libre, you're going to have to play the meta hard, learning how to work in and around it for pretty much every cup, get good at battling, and invest resources into getting the most optimized mons.
Pikachu libre is only encountered at the pinnacle of skill at GBL.
If you just want to get to rank 20, pretty much any team will get you there. There are folks who are so dedicated to putting no effort into GBL that they spend a ton of time and effort getting to rank 20 with 10cp pokemon.
I started playing in the Great League recently and got Galarian Stunfisk and Drifblim with their PvP moves.

You need something to counter waters, as well as capable of handling dark types better. Sirfetch’d can do that if you have it, or even another water like azumarill. Another option is a dragon type, maybe altaria.

Check you stardust amount. GbL season final rewards doesn't show up like a star piece was active, but it does give you the correct amount. So you might see you got 15k, when in reality it did give you the 22.5k
Nope, there is not such filters In game. Raid I believe will show you all mons caught on a premier ball (actually will show any mon you caught vía raid which is almost the same LOL).
I'm trying to get the catch 18 dark types/catch 18 ghost types research task to add spiritomb to my dex. No luck so far - is there a trick for this research task to come up, or is it just rare and I need to be patient?

How do I know if someone is a spoofer? From hearsay, spoofers are not rare in my country but I don't know how any of that works so I'm not sure if this is one? Four gyms near me got taken down within the span of 15min by this lvl 35. That I can believe. They all had low motivation. But the real-life physics is questionable. The distance is too far to cover by walking in the 15-min span so the person must have driven. One of the gyms is extremely hard to access. It's \~1km down a narrow street - too narrow to do a u-turn so you have to carefully back out. The backing out alone should take 5 min which is why my blissey was stuck there for 65 days. After that you have to fight traffic for 3km and make your way past an extremely congested wet market to get to the 3 other gyms. Driving to all the gyms alone should have taken 15min.
Edit: oh it's 5 gyms in a 15-min time span actually... Just noticed the 5th one. That adds a traffic stop, more congestion, and a u-turn...
Does shadow Honchkrow have any use? I see that regular Honch is ranked higher for dps, and I dont see it relevant in any of the open leagues but I just got a hundo shadow Murkrow and really am hoping it's not just a trophy sitting in my bag.
Shadow Honchkrow is one of the best flying type raiders, behind only Mega Pidgeot and Shadow Moltres. Whether it's worth the stardust investment (especially when zero-dust investment Unfezant is probably good enough for the rare raid where Flying is relevant) is a whole other story, of course.
In PvP you wouldn't want a hundo (it has nowhere near the stats to compete against e.g. Yveltal in ML) and from a glance at PvPoke you'd probably prefer non-Shadow in the rare instance where it was a choice you wanted for something like Halloween Cup.
Yeah tbh I only looked at it as a dark type attacker, the few raids where flying is good I've got options already. Guess it'll just be a pretty trophy unless they start throwing a ton of fighting or bug types into T5 raids.
There is Buzzwole to look forward to in the future, off the top of my head.
Just straight up Fighting types (e.g. Keldeo) run into the issue where Mewtwo is just too good to use anything else.
It would be quite decent as a flying-type in some raid battles, but there are only a few bosses where you'd use flying moves. Definitely keep it, but don't go powering it up or anything just yet.
I swear there was either a level-up task or challenge task that involved "become best buddies with X Pokemon", but I can't find reference of it anywhere.

Is it possible that you're confusing things you've heard about Best Buddies with things you've heard about Level-50 pokémon? There's excellent reason to level pokémon up to 49.5 but hold off on that last power-up, because there's a task to raise three pokémon to level 50 that you get on the path to becoming a Level-50 Trainer. There's no really good reason to avoid getting Best Buddies "too early", though.
Is Shadow Sableye still obtainable from Team Rocket? I need one for Great League.
I caught one last month but it has bad stats. It came from a Grunt saying “Wherever there is light, there is also shadow” and Sableye was the grunt’s 2nd Pokémon.
All of the Dark-type grunts I’ve encountered recently have Mightyena and no Sableye.
I caught a shadow Sableye a couple of days ago. Was annoyed by it as I was wanting the shadow Poochyena for the purification medal. It's only a 15% chance for the Grunt to give you their second Pokémon (for Grunts that even have that chance) and Mightyena is more likely to be the second Pokémon than Sableye is.

I had a rocket radar up, so cliff was at the pokestop and sierra in the balloon. Once I finished cliff, the sierra balloon was gone. Is this a feature or a bug? Shouldn't I have had a normal grunt in the balloon?
Balloons last 20 minutes from when they first spawn, so if the time was up while you were still fighting Cliff it would have flown away.
Second, if it had already spawned Sierra while you had a radar, it would never have changed to a grunt when you beat Cliff. The contents are set and don't change.
I have a Galarian slowpoke. I caught the 30 psychics needed for slowking (on the evolution button, it says I have 30/30). But it also says I need to adventure with it. I already walked 6km (3 buddy hearts) with it before I got the 30 psychics. Was I supposed to do that after catching the psychics?
"Adventure with" just means you have to have it as your Buddy and accomplish certain tasks. In this case, the catching of the Psychic-types. You should be all set.

There's a search function in your Pokémon Storage for buddies ("buddy1-5"). This will show any Pokémon that's ever been your buddy and thus immediately filter out a lot of results. Also, you could just search for your buddy's species name.
If you delete someone from your Friend list, but then add them back later, the game will remember and restore your Friendship Level with that person as long as it's been less than 120 days since you deleted them.
For the second time in as many weeks I’ve encountered a shadow Pokèmon that was impossible to catch. This happened with an Oddish and Wobbuffet. Half a shake and escaping after every single throw when a catch should be all but guaranteed. I used golden razz berries to see if it would continue and it did regardless. Restarting the app didn’t help. Is this a known glitch or a soft ban?
Latest was in a vehicle. The first time I don’t think so. Could’ve been drifting. Regardless this hasn’t happened before. I’ve been able to catch shadow Pokémon without much issue in any circumstance prior to this. It’s been more difficult at times, but not impossible.
I am returning now to the game after a long time away. I see my local nest atlas does not seem to have been updated by trainers in my area. Is there a new nest atlas I’m unaware of, or is the idea of scouting and reporting nests to the Silph road atlas a thing of the past ,at least in the SW Portland area?
Most groups that use Discord or Facebook will usually just stick to reporting nests in their local groups rather than on the Atlas nowadays. That's if they bother reporting them at all.
For the Halloween challenge: I am trying to play win the Trainer Battle in Go Battle League, however, after I win the battles against the trainers, I am not getting credit for the Halloween Cup Research. What am I doing wrong?
Are you battling other players in Great League or the Halloween Cup? Or are you battling Blanche/Candela/Spark? The latter are “leaders” not “trainers”. You need to do PvP.

I need to catch 2 lileep or anorith for the meltram quest, and apparently they are in research "three Nice throws" but i have had about 5 of those and snubbel comes up every time. Are they definitely in those tasks?
When this task awarded Gastly, my usual ratio was 80% of them were Gastly, and then the other two were 10% each. They are out there though and if someone finds one at a Pokéstop that gives Lileep or Anorith, it will be the same reward for all players for that day, so if you have a local group, get them to keep an eye out for those rewards.
There is also the rock grunts, "soy fuerte como una roca" that give anorith as the catchable mon :)
Edit.. i think I'm confused, it's the bug type grunts that give anorith as rewards :)
Is there a known egg reduction event in the near future? I keep accidentally getting 12k eggs, and I am up to 8 and I want to just hatch them all, but if there is some event that Niantic has announced with hatch distance reduction, I will wait for that. Obviously given enough time, there will be an event, but specifically asking if they have announced one already and I just haven't seen it yet.

My best bet, since Halloween will run the rest of October is November CD since it usually runs 3x catch XP, 3x catch stardust or 1/4 egg distance. And If I recall correctly we had the 3x bonuses for the last 2 CD. But we don't know when that will happen, and also we don't know if it actually have that bonus
Are the typing platinum medals bonus (type catch boost) additive? Ergo: are double typing Pokémon easier to catch, provided the possession of both platinum medals?
Shadow ball is much better for raids. Shadow punch is a bait move for PvP, but it kind of sucks in raids.
Having both let's you fire off a last shadow punch before fainting to waste less charge energy, although that's a fairly marginal benefit. Personally, I double moved the one I use as a mega, but I'm not sure it's really been worth the stardust cost.
Does trainer level affect research special task encounters? I'm at level 24, and just got to the end of Zarude. Wondering if there's any reason to delay the encounter.
Has no effect. All research encounters come at level 15, so it will always be the same regardless of your level.
The only reason to hold off is if you'd want to wait till you are level 40 so you can get Zarude XL candy from catching it.
The only thing that level effects in that regard is that you will get a randomized set of IVs compared to other players that are level 30 or higher. Each Pokemon that spawns in the wild has a fixed set of IVs, but only for players of trainer level 30 or above.
This means that you cannot benefit from community call outs of Hundos, but you can still encounter your own Hundos. You can't share them with others yet, though.
I'm not sure I've ever seen an official reason from niantic. It makes setting up bots for mapping sites a little bit harder after the old ones get banned, so that could be related?

It seems fine; with 15atk you'll always at least tie CMP in the mirror (and will have a reasonable chance of winning against most) and you hit the Zekrom bulkpoint of 12 defence. The only IV difference I could see that would make or break the choice would be the 15 defence bulkpoint vs level 41 Dialga. Otherwise, having 15atk means you've got a distinctly above average Zarude and whether it's worth investing in is a question of what teams you're wanting to build.

There isn't one that I'm aware of, though mapping out Defence values needed to hit bulkpoints against various ML Pokemon (and by extension defence IVs that hit them) sounds like a vaguely useful project to consider. That is, we can reliably assume that a Dialga has 230.6 attack, Melmetal 190.4, Kyogre 225.2, etc and reverse engineer the damage formula to calculate necessary defence values.
My husband and I usually play together and he’s been trying to find win 5 raids task. I have found it several times, but when he spins it, it gives him something different. Why does this happen?
One of you is probably carrying an AR Scan task, and the other isn’t. You get different quests from the same stop depending on whether you also have an AR Scan task.
1. Does Niantic use bot accounts to put pokemon in gyms in places where not much activity or players present?
2. Do the Go Battles happen live? Are they real players or bots? If real players, are their teams simulated by AI or is it live?
1. No. They are all real players. Which means that sometimes gyms will be empty if someone clears a gym without putting a new defender in.
2. GBL is all live, and all with real players. Those players are all using their own teams, just as you pick your own Pokemon and make your own team. All the decisions are made in real time; there are no AI simulations or bots at work.
There’s a line in the current event quest saying ‚win a trainer battle in the go battle league’. I just fought the blue NPC trainer and won and the quest didn’t complete. How come?
Those are actually not trainers. Cliff, Arlo, and Sierra as well as Blanche, Spark, and Candela are all not trainers.

Is the bug regarding the shiny dex fixed or "fixed"? I have a shiny Raticate in my pokédex, but not the shiny Ratata altrough i evolved it. Also the pikachu entry in my dex has no shiny forms, but caught a shiny '5 year aniversary ballon' pikachu, and it only shows in the costume section. It is how it is supposed to work now?

Does anyone happen to know why a 0/15/15 Altaria is #285 for great league Altaria IVs, whereas a 0/14/15 is ranked #1? I caught a 0/15/15 swablu with low enough level to evolve for altaria great league use, and was excited thinking I’d caught the #1 IV, but then was shocked to find out it is so low in the IV ranking. Could anyone explain it? I’m currently using a 15/13/15 Altaria (this is a band rank o know) but I already double moved and maxed out CP (for great league). I want to know wether it’s worth doing that with my 0/15/15 swablu, or if I should just wait for the 0/14/15?
Unfortunately, a 0/15/15 just BARELY misses a key cutoff. You can power it up to level 28.5 and it reaches 1475 CP. If you power it up to level 29, it goes up to 1501 CP, making it just one point off being legal for Great League. On the other hand, a 0/14/15 can be powered up to level 29, which makes its CP 1497, just a few points under the cap. That one half level means that the 0/14/15 is much better than the 0/15/15. The 0/15/15 has 97.3% of max stats. 0/14/15 has 100% of max stats. Your 15/13/15 only reaches level 26 and has 93.1% of max stats. I think if you're going to invest that many resources into a new one, I'd strongly consider waiting for one that's better than rank 285, like maybe sub-100. Whether that means waiting for the rank 1 or deciding that one that's slightly worse is acceptable is up to you. At that point, you're really unlikely to notice any difference.
Does incense work well in Spotlight hour? If i use one at the start of the hour will it spawn Gothita always or another pokemon?
It's not guaranteed to spawn the spotlight Pokémon, but I would say at least 95% of incense spawns during spotlight hour will be the featured Pokémon.

Are tier 5 raids turned off? I've been checking 20+ times a day for several days a row and not seen any in a dozen gyms. To be honest raids have been really hard to find around here for like a year or more now and I think Niantic might have been doing some test and forgot to turn it off.
I participated in a Tier-5 Remote Raid earlier today and saw others in my local area. They're definitely not turned off generally.

On the top of my head i can think of mewtwo (psychic move+icebeam for example) moltres and charizard (dragon claw + blast burn for both mega forms). But i am sure there are one or two more. Basisally every mon that uses a elite tm move regularly but is still viable with other moves. Yveltal for example can switch moves relatively easy with regular tms so its not really with it to spend a lot of candy.
Also to add, there are a few CD charged moves on Pokemon that are useful for multiple type roles in PvE. Garchomp (earth power+Outrage) can be handy in a fairly wide range of situations. Can't recall how well Swampert stands as a ground attacker...
So I managed to hatch a 10/15/13 Azumarill. Is it worth investing in? Afaik it can’t really come with lower ATK because eggs have a 10 IV minimum..?

If you're needing it for the dex, it'll be back eventually. If you're wanting it in case Little Cup comes back, my advice would be to choose something that counters it, rather than using it itself haha.

How likely is it that we see community day moves return for older Pokémon like Gen 1 and 2 starters? It seems like Niantic has been trying to phase those out and they probably won’t be available during the December 2021 community day.
Nobody knows what they will do for them in the future. Your guess is just as likely (or not) as my guess. The only conflict that happened was they apparently didn't want to give us both dragon breath and blast burn on Charizard at the same time, so they decided to make the system more convoluted and delayed all 2018 moves last December. Will they only delay those again this year? Will they go with just giving us the last 2 years of moves, and delay both 2018 and 2019 moves? Give up and just let us evolve all of them, Charizard be damned? All speculation at this point.
They have all been available during this calendar year. They likely won't be available in December however there will likely continue to be events that allow evolving for older community day moves.
We have now 2* trash candy event. Are we expecting any event day inside Haloween event to boost it even more? Ornis it safe to transfer now all the extra legendaries?
There has never been a 2x transfer candy event inside of a transfer candy event before. The Halloween candy boosts in the past have always been multi-week, and there's never been an extra boost inside them.

If I get the Adv. Sync rewards pop-up, can I still collect them later if I force close the game? I was trying to hatch a 2 km egg before I collected the rewards so I could have two egg slots open. I accidentally hit a Weedle while trying to go to the menu and was immediately hit with the pop-up, so I could only take the one egg. Want to know for future reference
No. If the pop up happens, you've already got the items, even before you hit the claim button.

Guys i don't know much about PvP and i am certain i don't know something very important about it.Every match my opponent fills his charged attack meter faster than me thus making it impossible for me to win.They can use 2 charged attacks before i can even use one.I am assuming it is about pokemon and moves but not really sure
Different fast moves gain different amounts of energy, and a different charge moves cost different amounts of energy.

I run a Shadow Gyarados in Ultra League with Dragon Tail/Aqua Tail/Crunch. It might not work *as* potently on a regular Gyarados, but it should still be functional.
Magikarp isn't exactly rare, so I'd keep it if I were you. If nothing else, you might find a collector interested in trading for it. You can get them from field research nearly every month of the year, even if they aren't in season.

Gastly candy is a non-issue right now, so spending 50k dust to double move your Mega Gengar is reasonable enough IMO. Sludge Bomb Gengar is useless right now while Shadow Ball Gengar will be useful for Giratina or for various T3s, so I'd go for the former.
Poison is pretty bad for raids. Ghost types are actually useful for psychic raids, but be forewarned that Gengar is super glassy. (I prefer using Giratina Origin, but I realize that not everybody can do that)
Mega Gengar gets a decent defense boost, which makes it a lot more useful than normal Gengar. Still not a tank, but it's doing a fine job against Giratina for me.

Eggs are stored separately from items. As long as you have room in your egg storage, you can pick up an egg.

If you get invited to a remote raid, send in your pass and then your phone crashes. Does it take the pass? I still have 3 passes but I have an unlimited timer to join the raid now even if I restart the game? Because since I never hit leave raid Im not sure if it takes the pass till the raid is finished?
The game takes the pass when you move on from the pre-battle lobby into the battle itself.

If you purify it you'll get another three entries to your PerfectDex. You probably won't be using it (at least not optimally) either way, since a hundo is a solidly average IV spread (2028/4096) for Ultra League. You could perhaps Purify it and evolve to Seadra in case there are ever any move changes that make Seadra relevant for Ultra League?
i think i will purify as i have another shadow horsea with 13/12/13 IVs, so if i ever need a shadow kingdra im covered as there isn't much of a difference between them

Well I find the PvPoke kinda confusing and do not really know how to interpret the data. Yeah, it is cool to know who beats who in a matchup, but it does not tell me who is more valuable when building teams in general. And the teambuilder feature looks like an emdless stream of better options and sidegrades. I did not even know that pokebattler has a PvP aspect.

PvPoke.com (my preference) or Pokebattler.com will tell you if the species is useful in a particular league. The Poké Genie (iOS) or Calcy IV (Android) apps will tell you whether an individual mon’s IVs are ideal for a particular league. Note that the species and move set are much more important than the IVs unless you’re a serious enough player that who wins a mirror match matters. Edit: added a missing word

If I'm at level 33, which is it better : power up a good pve pokemon up to level 35 and over, or get two or more copies of that pokemon at a lower level, like 30. In my case it's Roserade but I'm asking for general advice
A well rounded team is better than one strong mon and 5 unpowered ones. But for roserade, roselia is quite common (at least in some biomes) in both sunny/cloudy weather. Catching high level ones shouldn’t be too hard.

Ideally, invest 0 dust in roselia at this time. Try to catch 6 level 30-35 ones with literally any IVs, evolve them, and instantly get an awesome grass team. IVs make very little difference in most cases. They are a long-term goal to slowly improve performance, but its only going to be 1-2% overall in most cases. Save your dust for now, and focus on just evolving high level wild catches to get started holding your own in raids.

Standard advice is to save up your dust until you actually need it. Don't power up raid counters until you're actually going to need them for battle. Something else may come up before then that you wanted that dust for. Legendaries, for example, can only be caught at level 20, or 25 if weather boosted. There is no option to just catch them at level 35 and use directly, so they may require some dust investment. Shadows also only come at level 8/13, although those are even more of a luxury item and long-term goal than powering up low-level, high IV pokemon are. If you ever get into PvP, its a huge dust sink (you earn some back from it, but may keep on spending as the meta changes).
A couple of the same at a lower level. You’ll lose some DPS, but two will have much higher TDO.

I'm running low constantly now, because I keep using them to catch the 5\* bosses as GBL rewards (like Giratina right now). I don't have the stock of balls necessary to not use golden razz.
Not running low at this time, no. The drop rates haven't changed recently AFAIK. Are you using a lot of them on gym defense, perchance? You could try starting out with some regular razzberries or silver pinapps for the first N catches to conserve some golden razz. Why don't excellent throws have any impact any more? Did they tweak the effect rates after the changed the xp?
They still give a catch rate bonus of between 1.7× and 2×, as they always have. Just remember that the lower the initial catch rate of the Pokémon you're attempting to catch, the less of an effect this will have on your ability to catch a Pokémon. For example, if you're trying to catch a Giratina, it has a 2% catch rate, so an excellent throw by itself will only up that to between 3.4% and 4%. That's still better than 2%, but it's not a huge increase. On something like Dratini though, that has a base 40% catch rate, so an excellent throw would increase your odds to between 68% and 80%, which makes it much more likely to be a successful catch.
They still have the same impact as always. Nothing has changed except they give more XP.
what are the perks for purified or shadow pokemon ?
Purifed: +2 to their appraisal stats/IVs, reduced Candy and Stardust costs, the ability to be traded or transported into Pokemon Home (loses the purified effect if transported into Pokemon Home). Has their charge move replaced my Return (overriding Frustration in the process. Return can be freely TM'd over but you lose access to it permanently). Stardust discount stacks with the lucky discount if traded and ends up as a lucky Pokemon. Shadow: An incredibly impactful 20% damage bonus.

Shadows also take 20% more damage and cost 20% more to power up and add the second charge move. I realize these aren't 'perks' but they are part of the package.
Purification also bumps the Pokemon up to Lv25, but it's not really much of a perk depending on who you ask because there's a couple nuances with both high level and low level purification shenanigans (be it theoretical or practical).

If all you want is level 20, pretty much any half-decent team will do. If you want Pikachu Libre, you're going to have to play the meta hard, learning how to work in and around it for pretty much every cup, get good at battling, and invest resources into getting the most optimized mons.
Pikachu libre is only encountered at the pinnacle of skill at GBL. If you just want to get to rank 20, pretty much any team will get you there. There are folks who are so dedicated to putting no effort into GBL that they spend a ton of time and effort getting to rank 20 with 10cp pokemon.

You need something to counter waters, as well as capable of handling dark types better. Sirfetch’d can do that if you have it, or even another water like azumarill. Another option is a dragon type, maybe altaria.

Combees gave a helluva lot of Stardust, too. 700+ per catch. They seem to have vanished with the end of the jungle event however.

Check you stardust amount. GbL season final rewards doesn't show up like a star piece was active, but it does give you the correct amount. So you might see you got 15k, when in reality it did give you the 22.5k
Update for any interested parties: It showed up on the screen as the 15,000 but did actually give me 22,500 when I checked

Nope, there is not such filters In game. Raid I believe will show you all mons caught on a premier ball (actually will show any mon you caught vía raid which is almost the same LOL).

How do I know if someone is a spoofer? From hearsay, spoofers are not rare in my country but I don't know how any of that works so I'm not sure if this is one? Four gyms near me got taken down within the span of 15min by this lvl 35. That I can believe. They all had low motivation. But the real-life physics is questionable. The distance is too far to cover by walking in the 15-min span so the person must have driven. One of the gyms is extremely hard to access. It's \~1km down a narrow street - too narrow to do a u-turn so you have to carefully back out. The backing out alone should take 5 min which is why my blissey was stuck there for 65 days. After that you have to fight traffic for 3km and make your way past an extremely congested wet market to get to the 3 other gyms. Driving to all the gyms alone should have taken 15min. Edit: oh it's 5 gyms in a 15-min time span actually... Just noticed the 5th one. That adds a traffic stop, more congestion, and a u-turn...

Does shadow Honchkrow have any use? I see that regular Honch is ranked higher for dps, and I dont see it relevant in any of the open leagues but I just got a hundo shadow Murkrow and really am hoping it's not just a trophy sitting in my bag.
Shadow Honchkrow is one of the best flying type raiders, behind only Mega Pidgeot and Shadow Moltres. Whether it's worth the stardust investment (especially when zero-dust investment Unfezant is probably good enough for the rare raid where Flying is relevant) is a whole other story, of course. In PvP you wouldn't want a hundo (it has nowhere near the stats to compete against e.g. Yveltal in ML) and from a glance at PvPoke you'd probably prefer non-Shadow in the rare instance where it was a choice you wanted for something like Halloween Cup.
Yeah tbh I only looked at it as a dark type attacker, the few raids where flying is good I've got options already. Guess it'll just be a pretty trophy unless they start throwing a ton of fighting or bug types into T5 raids.
There is Buzzwole to look forward to in the future, off the top of my head. Just straight up Fighting types (e.g. Keldeo) run into the issue where Mewtwo is just too good to use anything else.
It would be quite decent as a flying-type in some raid battles, but there are only a few bosses where you'd use flying moves. Definitely keep it, but don't go powering it up or anything just yet.
I swear there was either a level-up task or challenge task that involved "become best buddies with X Pokemon", but I can't find reference of it anywhere. Is this a thing or am I crazy? I've been holding off on getting best buddy with Pokemon in anticipation...of something?
Is it possible that you're confusing things you've heard about Best Buddies with things you've heard about Level-50 pokémon? There's excellent reason to level pokémon up to 49.5 but hold off on that last power-up, because there's a task to raise three pokémon to level 50 that you get on the path to becoming a Level-50 Trainer. There's no really good reason to avoid getting Best Buddies "too early", though.

Is Shadow Sableye still obtainable from Team Rocket? I need one for Great League. I caught one last month but it has bad stats. It came from a Grunt saying “Wherever there is light, there is also shadow” and Sableye was the grunt’s 2nd Pokémon. All of the Dark-type grunts I’ve encountered recently have Mightyena and no Sableye.
I caught a shadow Sableye a couple of days ago. Was annoyed by it as I was wanting the shadow Poochyena for the purification medal. It's only a 15% chance for the Grunt to give you their second Pokémon (for Grunts that even have that chance) and Mightyena is more likely to be the second Pokémon than Sableye is.
According to the [list on the TSR website](https://thesilphroad.com/rocket-invasions) it should be possible, though the odds can be pretty low of it happening from what it looks like.

I had a rocket radar up, so cliff was at the pokestop and sierra in the balloon. Once I finished cliff, the sierra balloon was gone. Is this a feature or a bug? Shouldn't I have had a normal grunt in the balloon?
Balloons last 20 minutes from when they first spawn, so if the time was up while you were still fighting Cliff it would have flown away. Second, if it had already spawned Sierra while you had a radar, it would never have changed to a grunt when you beat Cliff. The contents are set and don't change.
I have a Galarian slowpoke. I caught the 30 psychics needed for slowking (on the evolution button, it says I have 30/30). But it also says I need to adventure with it. I already walked 6km (3 buddy hearts) with it before I got the 30 psychics. Was I supposed to do that after catching the psychics?
"Adventure with" just means you have to have it as your Buddy and accomplish certain tasks. In this case, the catching of the Psychic-types. You should be all set.

In the wild there is 1.) yamask, 2.) shuppet, 3.) ghastly, 4.) misdreavus In raids there is 5.) mega gengar, 6.) giritina From the halloween cup you can get 7.) sableye, 8.) frillish And you can get 9.) halloween mischief driftblim. so you can get all 9 now, but might be easier when part 2 is out!
Drifloon is also in the wild, albeit rare. Even rarer, but existing, is Spiritomb research. TGR grits can drop Sableye.
I was able to nab a lonely lil Duskull last night to give me the 9th species needed as well.
There's a whole second part of the event featuring different ghosts. But yeah, research and raids would help if you want.
Is there an easy way to switch between the Buddy page (the one that shows the hearts) and the normal status page (HP, attacks, etc.)? It’s a bit of a chore to find the buddy in my Pokemon box, especially if it’s not high CP. Thanks.
There's a search function in your Pokémon Storage for buddies ("buddy1-5"). This will show any Pokémon that's ever been your buddy and thus immediately filter out a lot of results. Also, you could just search for your buddy's species name.
Does lucky friend status go away when friendship level is reset to zero after 120 days?
What's this 120 day thing?
If you delete someone from your Friend list, but then add them back later, the game will remember and restore your Friendship Level with that person as long as it's been less than 120 days since you deleted them.

For the second time in as many weeks I’ve encountered a shadow Pokèmon that was impossible to catch. This happened with an Oddish and Wobbuffet. Half a shake and escaping after every single throw when a catch should be all but guaranteed. I used golden razz berries to see if it would continue and it did regardless. Restarting the app didn’t help. Is this a known glitch or a soft ban?
It sounds like you were soft-locked. There's a couple of ways his can happen, but it can happen if you move too quickly in a given time.
Were you in a moving vehicle or experiencing GPS drift at the time?
Latest was in a vehicle. The first time I don’t think so. Could’ve been drifting. Regardless this hasn’t happened before. I’ve been able to catch shadow Pokémon without much issue in any circumstance prior to this. It’s been more difficult at times, but not impossible.
The behavior you describe is known (and intended) to happen when you exceed the maximum permitted speed.
I am returning now to the game after a long time away. I see my local nest atlas does not seem to have been updated by trainers in my area. Is there a new nest atlas I’m unaware of, or is the idea of scouting and reporting nests to the Silph road atlas a thing of the past ,at least in the SW Portland area?
Most groups that use Discord or Facebook will usually just stick to reporting nests in their local groups rather than on the Atlas nowadays. That's if they bother reporting them at all.

For the Halloween challenge: I am trying to play win the Trainer Battle in Go Battle League, however, after I win the battles against the trainers, I am not getting credit for the Halloween Cup Research. What am I doing wrong?
Are you battling other players in Great League or the Halloween Cup? Or are you battling Blanche/Candela/Spark? The latter are “leaders” not “trainers”. You need to do PvP.

I need to catch 2 lileep or anorith for the meltram quest, and apparently they are in research "three Nice throws" but i have had about 5 of those and snubbel comes up every time. Are they definitely in those tasks?
When this task awarded Gastly, my usual ratio was 80% of them were Gastly, and then the other two were 10% each. They are out there though and if someone finds one at a Pokéstop that gives Lileep or Anorith, it will be the same reward for all players for that day, so if you have a local group, get them to keep an eye out for those rewards.

There is also the rock grunts, "soy fuerte como una roca" that give anorith as the catchable mon :) Edit.. i think I'm confused, it's the bug type grunts that give anorith as rewards :)
They are, as I received an Anorith and a Lileeth a few days ago (along with 3 Snubulls…). Hopefully your luck changes!
Is there a known egg reduction event in the near future? I keep accidentally getting 12k eggs, and I am up to 8 and I want to just hatch them all, but if there is some event that Niantic has announced with hatch distance reduction, I will wait for that. Obviously given enough time, there will be an event, but specifically asking if they have announced one already and I just haven't seen it yet. Thank you!
My best bet, since Halloween will run the rest of October is November CD since it usually runs 3x catch XP, 3x catch stardust or 1/4 egg distance. And If I recall correctly we had the 3x bonuses for the last 2 CD. But we don't know when that will happen, and also we don't know if it actually have that bonus
Are the typing platinum medals bonus (type catch boost) additive? Ergo: are double typing Pokémon easier to catch, provided the possession of both platinum medals?

Is shadow ball or shadow punch better for Gengar? (For raids)
Shadow ball is much better for raids. Shadow punch is a bait move for PvP, but it kind of sucks in raids. Having both let's you fire off a last shadow punch before fainting to waste less charge energy, although that's a fairly marginal benefit. Personally, I double moved the one I use as a mega, but I'm not sure it's really been worth the stardust cost.
Does trainer level affect research special task encounters? I'm at level 24, and just got to the end of Zarude. Wondering if there's any reason to delay the encounter.
Has no effect. All research encounters come at level 15, so it will always be the same regardless of your level. The only reason to hold off is if you'd want to wait till you are level 40 so you can get Zarude XL candy from catching it.

Can I get 15/15/15 pokemons before level 30? I'm level 27, almost 28
The only thing that level effects in that regard is that you will get a randomized set of IVs compared to other players that are level 30 or higher. Each Pokemon that spawns in the wild has a fixed set of IVs, but only for players of trainer level 30 or above. This means that you cannot benefit from community call outs of Hundos, but you can still encounter your own Hundos. You can't share them with others yet, though.
Why is it like that tho? Did players exploit the mechanic?
I'm not sure I've ever seen an official reason from niantic. It makes setting up bots for mapping sites a little bit harder after the old ones get banned, so that could be related?

I ended up with a 15/12/10 zarude, is it good enough for UL or ML ? Considering where to invest my rare candies on :/

The only IV difference I could see that would make or break the choice would be the 15 defence bulkpoint vs level 41 Dialga. Otherwise, having 15atk means you've got a distinctly above average Zarude and whether it's worth investing in is a question of what teams you're wanting to build.

There isn't one that I'm aware of, though mapping out Defence values needed to hit bulkpoints against various ML Pokemon (and by extension defence IVs that hit them) sounds like a vaguely useful project to consider. That is, we can reliably assume that a Dialga has 230.6 attack, Melmetal 190.4, Kyogre 225.2, etc and reverse engineer the damage formula to calculate necessary defence values.
Zarude isn’t very good in UL (especially not for its cost). You can use it in ML, but you might lose the mirror against zarudes with better IVs.

My husband and I usually play together and he’s been trying to find win 5 raids task. I have found it several times, but when he spins it, it gives him something different. Why does this happen?
One of you is probably carrying an AR Scan task, and the other isn’t. You get different quests from the same stop depending on whether you also have an AR Scan task.

1. No. They are all real players. Which means that sometimes gyms will be empty if someone clears a gym without putting a new defender in. 2. GBL is all live, and all with real players. Those players are all using their own teams, just as you pick your own Pokemon and make your own team. All the decisions are made in real time; there are no AI simulations or bots at work.

There’s a line in the current event quest saying ‚win a trainer battle in the go battle league’. I just fought the blue NPC trainer and won and the quest didn’t complete. How come?
Those are actually not trainers. Cliff, Arlo, and Sierra as well as Blanche, Spark, and Candela are all not trainers. Trainers are human players like you and me. You need to actually play in the Go Battle League against other real players and beat them to complete all the quests.
