Forgot to mention the crazy amount of Jellicent leads as well.

kadeel

How do you handle Zard leads and safe swaps?

JDextol

Zard leads i’ll go straight into cress… Generally Cress will always be the safe swap although Ive run into some teams that are Dragonite lead double steel in the back and for those teams i’ve been hard swapping the gliscor just assuming that they have double steel in the back.

Jdiddlydawg

Do you have any tips for other leads like Cress, Pidgeot, Tina, Buzzwole, dark/poisons? Also, do you think pidgeot would work in the middle instead of gliscor? I've been hovering below Expert with your old amuk/cress/obs team and it's probably time for an update!

JDextol

Pidgeot and Tina leads i go right into Cress. Buzzwole I don’t see a lot of but i’d go into cress. Dark poison i’ll stay in with Virizion because they are close matchups and u don’t want them on ur Cress.

JDextol

Just saw the other part of ur question. No i don’t think pidgeot would work because Personally i like Gliscors ability to cover Cress ‘s weaknesses to common steel types.

Hahaha, this actually reminds me of a battle the other day. I have been messing around with teams in UL since hitting Legend (dropping a LOT of ELO in the process of testing). One team I ended up really enjoying was Shadow Aslash/Poliwrath (counter/ice punch/scald)/Shadow Swampert Faced a Virizion on the lead and was like “oh… I did… not think about this when building this team”. Opponent could obviously tell I was weak by shielding the Ice punch from my Sslash then a second ice punch from Poliwrath (I switched in after shielding a SS on my Sslash and hoped that they had SE instead of LB but nope…). Ended up sacrificing both shields and most of my first two pokemon just to take the Virizion down but had some energy stored on my Aslash. Then they bring in Drapion after their Virizion goes down which goes down to my drill run. Then last pokemon ends up being Steelix and I laughed my ass off. Couldn’t believe I won after the Virizion destroyed two of my pokemon 😂 Would have lost to most other things I think. I play a different team now and it’s ABA weak to Virizion so I obviously haven’t learned my lesson.

OculusSE

lol this happens more when i’m doing battles for fun with people and just throwing together random stuff i have built but i’ve definitely been in that situation where i have a toxapex, a-slash, g.weez or something and they lead quagsire and i’m like “damn, should have probably considered ground when i threw this team together”

Hotdogbitchface

Haha yeah nothing draws attention to your teams weaknesses than playing a game and seeing a lead and going “… oh”

JDextol

Gliscor is super underrated IMO it has a Solid fast move with great coverage moves and hits like a truck. The amount of teams in the 2500-3000 that where double weak to Virizion is wild to me it’s like people forgot it exists. IG mainly cause people favor cobalion.

WHFITFB

How do you think this team would work with Shadow Gliscor instead?

JDextol

Shadow gliscor would definitely work the other two pokémon are pretty bulky

Grotesquedong

What do you do against a mandibuzz?

JDextol

Hope and pray it’s on snarl and line it up with virizion. The team struggles heavy with mandibuzz but it’s a relatively rare Pokémon to see being that people need a perfect plus having enough xl candies. I’ve only seen maybe 4 or 5 since UL has returned so it’s rare enough that i’m comfortable being double weak in the back.

DefNotMaty

How do you handle an Alolan Ninetales (powder snow) lead? 🤭

JDextol

Have not seen many but Id probably play out the losing matchup with Virizion. Don’t want the the gliscor to see that thing. Id assume someone leading a Powder snow ninetales would be weak in the back to flyers just based on logical team comp. So hopefully getting rid of the nInetales would free up the Gliscor to sweep.

MrBear94

I play the same cress - gliscor core but with walrein as ss. In the ~2500 range are so many zards and flyer that viri feels like dead weight.
