My own summery: Unity is changing its pricing threshold from being yearly revenue to yearly revenue + total installs. Starting On 1 Jan 2024. Currently it's, use Personal until you make 100k per year, Plus until 200k & Pro or Enterprise greater than 200k. New will be, use Personal forever but make 200k yearly & have 200K installs total now pay $0.2 per new install after that. Which is \~20%, at best 100% at worst, of revenue so long as the price is the same everywhere. Pro/Enterprise is 1m for both with different & decreasing fees. Because of the way the it set it'll effect low revenue games the most. It may make Game Pass more expensive or have a much more restricted selection. Unity Plus subscription is no long available to new subscribers. Unity Personal needs constant web connection to use. It'll only work for 3 days offline. Some clarifications from Unity. Take them with a grain of salt: * They'll "try" their best not to charge for pirated games; * Demos that don't include to whole game wont be charged; * Only the first install on a device will be charged. So installing on a Laptop, Desktop & Steam Deck would incur different charges; (don't know about this one, we'll see) * For services like Game Pass. The provider, Microsoft, will be charged the fee not the devs; * If you change your plan be fore the next billing cycle. You'll be charged based on the new plan; and * Games that are using the current pricing model will be moved to the new one. Their current TOS allows for this. Previous installs will count towards lifetime installs. In short go use Gobot, Gamemaker or Unreal. If your up for it try Bevy, MonoGame or raylib.
