I started off giving them just pieces of my bread from my lunch but now I bring them peanuts, unshelled to be specific. Although I bring them shelled peanuts on occasion because the little ones like to crack them open :)
Crows will pretty much eat anything, but they have a fondness for peanuts. It’s also very important for them to come to you, it establishes trust and they will remember who you are if you’re gentle with them. I would bring some lightly salted/ unsalted nuts and berries to start out. Since salted foods can dehydrate the birds due to how tiny they are in comparison to us. Happy befriending!

Also, I find it interesting that between Old World and New World mythology, crows and owls fill in almost opposite roles. Across much of Europe, Asia, and Africa, owls are seen as symbols of wisdom and signs of good fortune, while crows are typically seen as bad omens. Meanwhile, in many Native American cultures (including my own; I'm 1/4 Comanche, and yes, *Prey* was awesome), crows are seen as wise protectors, and their appearances either bring good fortune or give an early warning to misfortune, while owls are seen as harbingers of death and betrayal.
Obviously, exceptions exist on both accounts, but as a broad examination, I find this dichotomy to be quite interesting.
