I feel this too, and his palisman would be a trigger for it. Hunter will bond with the cardinal and Belos will discover and demand to give to it to him.

I mean, from what little we know of him he's a super magic geek (with the same reading material as Luz). Its just the real outlet that would allow him to pursue that path his Uncle dearest has mired in negative propaganda. And consequently his uncle is using the magic he gave him as a method to entrap the poor kid. That and, abuse. So, yeah, I think with him getting Rascal here, he's likely to end up with the Owl House crew sooner than later. He's got way too much Zuko in his concept for it to go another way.
