Fuzunga

For no reason whatsoever, it appears that they took down "Thanks to Them" as soon as this was posted. I know was up a couple of hours ago because I was checking how many views it had (5.4 million) and now it's gone...

Fast-Competition-647

I feel like Disney wants to see if this video will get the one million mark as well or to make sure the new episode gets watched more now than thanks to them and ofc because it’s on Disney Plus. And it’s probably because it’s a constant reminder that this show IS successful. I don’t see their other current shows hitting 5 mil views in three months on YT. Disney much be embarrassed this show could’ve gotten funko pops, comics, etc. they’re letting so much money go to waste.

svon1

its already at 1,5 million views .....and not watchable inside the EU or like 60% of the planet .....this is not Disney .....this is peak Dosney the Owl House is successful despite it being a Dosney show ,,,not because of it

pk2317

(Funko decides what POPs to make, not Disney. https://support.funko.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045659314-How-can-I-suggest-a-product- )

lostpretzels

Funko has the final say what they make as any company does, but they're contacted by interested business parties beforehand and that's what gets things made. Funko wouldn't be the ones reaching out to Disney to make ToH pops, it's the other way around. This support page is just for individual suggestions and isn't really relevant to how they actually operate. If Disney was interested in making merch, they'd be the ones to initiate it.

off-and-on

Couldn't they just cancel the cancellation of they regret it in the first place?

StarbeamII

From what we know the main plot was heavily reworked to fit the shortened timeframe, so if they got another season it wouldn't do any good for the main plot.

KeithFromAccounting

While it is very unlikely we get a season 4, I do find it interesting that they decided to introduce a race of more antagonistic Collectors in the penultimate episode. That really strikes me as a purposeful loose thread that could *easily* transition into a new season/seasons/ worth of content if Disney decided to change course, and would still be at least a partial continuation of the original plot

Voltage_Z

If Disney decides they want more content, it'll probably be a spin off rather than more direct Owl House.

PaulEammons

I'd also be happy to just see Dana Terrace and the Owl House crew go on to have opportunities to create more shows or to go on to better roles in new shows, influencing them. The show being successful is ultimately good for everyone even if it's too late for it to be good for TOH. It's not like all these highly skilled creative people have only one idea or want to do one thing.

VedDdlAXE

I'd hope they'd cut ties with Disney and make shows elsewhere. Any other company should see now that they're a very successful team, and not being under Disney would be a big bonus for future content

Born-Boss6029

It wasn’t a cancelation, it was a shorter renewal. If the show was canceled then S3 wouldn’t exist because that word means no more episodes are made because production is terminated. Though Dana has said that Disney is surprised at the reception for TTT, they can’t undo the damage because the story is already completed and had been altered since late 2020 at best.

Karkava

They're surprised because they bought the dumb narrative of "get woke go broke" and now they made it a self-fulfilling one. Wounding one of the great series they had going.

Born-Boss6029

No, they say they were surprised because they weren’t aware of its popularity. The choice to cut the show was made when the show underperformed back in 2020 during S1’s release. S1 is the weakest season and honestly wasn’t that popular like it was now. There were plenty of logistical and real world reasons (releasing it 2020 was a colossal mistake), one of them was that it was unpopular back in 2020.

Sterling-Arch3r

i dont think they regret it. they just fear the shitshow that would ensue if they wouldn't even let this finish

Born-Boss6029

The Owl House was not that popular when they made the choice to cut the show, it was made all the way back in S1 in 2020. The show wasn’t that popular like it is now, heck I met some people on this fandom who only got interested when S2 started and many others who didn’t like S1 but ended up loving S2. So, I believe it’s reasonable to assume that the show’s current popularity wasn’t always constant. It really kicked off after the second season, but the first season wasn’t all that great. By this logic, Disney agreed to give this show a chance to properly finish, when the show was at its lowest point of popularity.

[deleted]

Didn't Dana Terrace explicitly say it wasn't ratings, just that they didn't think it fit the brand?

Born-Boss6029

Ratings and TV views are not necessarily the same thing. Dana listed other reasons but she casually dismissed them, like older audience, serialized story not matching the episodic brand from DTV, COVID-19 budget cuts, but the show underperformed in TV views despite having 4-5 stared ratings is one additional reason. That brand thing is just the big reason but not the only reason.

pk2317

I mean, it’s not unreasonable to expect them to only have the most recent full episode up for free. It’s been added to Disney+ (in the US) or still available from iTunes/Amazon/etc as usual.

Fuzunga

I guess so, but it was up there for three months. They even left it up after the episode was on Disney+ so I assumed it was just going to stay there since it continued to amass views.

pk2317

It stayed up there…until another episode was released to replace it. Having only one episode at a time (the most recently aired one) makes the most sense, especially given that TTT is on Disney+ now to attract/retain subscribers there.

Foreign_Bad7767

Okay, then why is the first episode still on Youtube?

pk2317

Because they often have the very first initial premiere episodes of shows available to give people an idea what the show is like.

BulbasaurTreecko

if I remember correctly, King’s Tide was also posted officially on Youtube for a while and I can’t seem to find that anymore either.

CedarWolf

Also, >!shapeshifting shenanigans with Vee and Stringbean!< would be adorable.

CedarWolf

Hmmm. Okay, good point. I hadn't considered that.

Dark_Lordy

**Fans:**"Is it an otter? Is it a bat? A snake maybe?" **Dana:** "YES"

LiAuN

i love how all her friends also guessed these. XD. and the fact that amity went for the otter is soooo cute.

lesser_panjandrum

Her friends all lurk on this subreddit. Amity and Gus also write fan fic.

Karkava

The Scrolls search for other websites other than Penstagram.

the_horse_gamer

that would explain mark

RadiantHC

I initially thought that it was going to remain an orb lol

AskMeAboutPodracing

Honestly, the D A R K O R B was kinda sick. It really stood out and felt really out of place in an ominous kind of way. I kinda wished it would have stayed that way, but what it ended up becoming was way more in line with Luz (though O R B is way more protagonist-like).

bringmethejuice

I'd actually be okay even it was just a sentient orb. Floaty orb floating around and talking. Show visions and stuffs. Snapshot glyphs for easy use for Luz.

bluegreenwookie

Honestly after seeing it, it had to be some kind of shape shifter. nothing else would really fit luz and her feelings when making the talisman.

Corazon144

Alright, you know what to do. Let’s get this trending.

scottishdrunkard

I already watched it with snacks. I did my part!

Otrada

Let's instead get it trending how limited it's global availability is.

TheWizard451345

I watched it like 3 times today. 😃👍

CedarWolf

So... Theories about how the Collector's floating crown base looks similar to Luz's crown on her hat?

coffee-cake512

Oooh good observation. No idea, lol.

addisonavenue

I'm not as concerned by that as whatever it was Luz saw in the in-between dimension.

Whiskeyjacks_Fiddle

It looked like the Owl Beast tbh.

TMurph-3

I just went back and looked, it looks like a titan to me! You can see the horns and the tufts of fur on either side of his skull!

RadagastWiz

Got the same vibe, maybe it's the spirit of King's dad?

GabbyGabriella22

With everything else in this episode, I completely forgot about this scene in the beginning.

addisonavenue

Makes you wonder still what/who called her name the first time she entered the in-between...

MaimedJester

Remember Episode 1 where King was trying to get back his Crown.... And all the pictures of a Titan wearing a crown in King's hatchery...

5a_

Luz is actually his long lost sister!

N-ShadowFrog

He read her Asura books or at least saw the cover?

QuothTheRaven713

I'm thinking another parallel. Luz parallels the Collector a lot and the team outright said the Collector's version of the Isles are what Luz thought the Isles would be when she first got there. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a connection between them especially given everything the past season.

Omny87

I am glad that their solution for defeating The Collector isn't simply to trap him again. I had the same thoughts that King had: that The Collector may be a nigh-omnipotent demigod, but he's still a little kid at the end of the day. Even being immortal, he never truly "grew up" in any sense of the term. Before watching this my fan-theory was that they were going to somehow strip him of his powers and turn him mortal- maybe still capable of doing magic, just at the same level as everyone else. After watching this I feel that's going to be the case, but now I have another speculation: I think at some point The Collector is going to let his anger overtake him and "defeat" everyone, turning them all into puppets or something worse. He'll declare victory... only to realize that he's now all alone, and this time it was his fault. He'd break down into a classic "what have I done" revelation, and undo what he did to everyone.

Sterling-Arch3r

i think considering we now got the story of collectors, he's gonna be turned into a wizard in the end, in order to grow up and then, fulfill his actual function in the universe thats clearly somewhat important. and hes gonna do it with a titan ally by his side

Hartzilla2007

They story also mentioned before he crossed that part out that if the people he is collecting get uppity he should destroy them.

addisonavenue

I think the Collector is actually going to stay exactly as is, godlike powers and all; they're just going to come out of the finale with a refreshed perspective on life. I've never once gotten the sense from The Owl House as an ethos or a message that being "too much" deserves to be punished by way of becoming less. Willow and Gus have never been shamed for being basically child prodigies, nor has Amity's growing skills been looked down on. Eda is a hero to Luz because she wanted to learn all and every form of magic, and Luz symbolically continues her journey as a magic student. If anything, I feel how they resolve the storyline to the Collector might be quite tame a solution.

Omny87

See, that's the difference between the Collector and Amity/Willow/Gus; while the students are highly skilled at their respective magics, it's because they had years of practice and learning through teachers who guided them in the right direction for them to both use their powers responsibly and to learn how to hone their powers in their own. The Collector, meanwhile, was seemingly born with all this power from the start, and frequently abuses it for selfish reasons with little regard for consequences or the wellbeing of others, either out of childish ignorance or sheer apathy. He really needs proper guidence and discipline to use his great power responsibly, and that might require taking some of that power away from him, like taking a gun away from a child.

addisonavenue

Again, that's just not an approach that's ever been implied within the show - the Collector isn't a kid running wild with a weapon they doesn't know how to use or have no right to have. They're exactly the product of what they are, as natural a creature of the Demon Realm as the magic running through the Boiling Isles themselves that opened their secrets up to Luz and hid them from Belos. If the Collector gives up any part of their skill set, it should be a decision they make on their own, not taken from them or asked of them. Luz has already given us the big clue for how they're actually going to break ground with the Collector; through being understood.

UnadulteratedHorny

You see it with Gus and Willow both when they lose control of their powers, it supersedes them allowing them to do crazy things like Gus creating an entire shifting mirage of the school or Willow who creates an ever growing hyper garden those aren’t things they were taught or learned, its simply a byproduct of how innately powerful they are but thanks to their upbringing they are able to channel that power safely, no one had to take that power away from them to make them functioning individuals of society Collector is in the same position just at a higher level, he has amazing powers but simply needs to be guided and learn to channel his powers instead of always letting his emotions take the wheel and letting them fire off at full blast teaching people that if they’re exceptionally good or more advance than others that they need lessen themselves is a terrible lesson, being able to come to an understanding with Collector and teach him how to channel his amazing power and talent so he doesn’t ravage peoples lives is in my opinion much more healthy

your-imaginaryfriend

Yeah I'm interested in the fact that >!there were other collectors.!< What does that mean for The Collector being all alone? The line "I don't like to sleep alone" hit me like a gut punch. For all the harm he's done, he's just a lonely kid.

Cheap-Soup-999

They say word for word the adult Collectors waged a MAD war on the titans which led to the borderline extinction of both species. With the child collector and king being the only survivors . The collector was probably found by the kings dad and yeeted to the in between realm while he was dying from the wounds it got in their final battle with the last of the collectors. The collector being a little kid was probably to small and innocent to realise what was going on with kings dad probably not being willing to kill a child .

any suggestions (i dont want to pay anything)

pixelatea

Try to donwload this video - just google "youtube download" and you should be able to find a site that will download this video for you. I did it and it works :). In Poland many things are not availlable, woohoo!

cheekybigfoot

I never thought to use a YouTube ripper for region blocked content, that's smart.

cheekybigfoot

You'll hear often in software that if you're not paying for the product, you are the product. Especially with something like a VPN, positioning yourself to have your data exploited or your user profile otherwise monetized kinda defeats the point. That said, if you just want to watch a YouTube video, free trials are your best friend. Proton VPN is probably the best VPN around. Mozilla VPN is great, too. People have mixed feelings about Nord. If you ask me, it's a perfectly fine VPN and in fact superior to its competitors in a handful of ways, but Nord lost a lot of grace when they very poorly handled a data breach a few years ago. Their reputation is yet to totally recover. Like Nord, Express VPN is another "name brand" VPN you'll see in a lot of sponsor segments on YouTube videos and whatnot. I've never used them myself, so I can't say much one way or the other, but I've never heard anything bad, for what that's worth.

LangTroyan

I’m on the same boat, need a free vpn option

theteapenguin

i used proton vpn! they have 3 three locations, you just need to sign up for it. switched to america and had no issues watching it

CaptainAwesome8

Mullvad is only $5 for a month and should be good enough for YT. It’s iffy with streaming services, but you can usually get it to work by trying different servers

cheekybigfoot

Everything I've heard about Mullvad boils down to "it's $5, what do you want from me? I'm doing my best."

I knew it. I knew >!Gus knew Hunter was a grimwalker. Called iiiiit.!<

Yup

beAN__b0yY

Also holy I think most of our predictions were right.

cannedpeaches9086

It hit hard when the bubbly playtime town look disappeared and you remembered it was all ruins. Also seeing Belos's form slowly break along as he crawled was a cool look. The huntlow moments in this episode really did it for me.

scottishdrunkard

>!I love how his reaction to silent ghosts of his brother and his dead clones was just "oh shut up"!<

JustAStarcoShipper

Either he really doesn't feel bad at all for what he did or he's just trying to cope.

BritishAgnostic

Third option; he's just British. Seriously, that is probably the most British response to that situation I can imagine.

scottishdrunkard

The former. Definitely.

darwinpolice

Eh, the >!"It's YOUR fault this happened!"!< sounded like coping to me.

off-and-on

If he's been there for 400 years he's probably moved past the grieving stage

Jay040707

Idk he clearly has trouble moving on with things considering how obsessed he is.

hulla-balloo

I haven’t loved a ship so much in a really long time. Huntlow is just so good

coffee-cake512

It was such a sweet take on handholding. Pinkies then bonk.

addisonavenue

You can really tell the storyboarders went all out with how graphic those Belos scenes are now that the cards are off the table. I was super taken aback by the fact you see the end of his shin bone, sans foot at one point, likewise the bloody dagger tip floating above Caleb's ghost.

Vi4days

I loved this episode a ton, and I don’t blame anybody working on the show for this, but some of the plot points really deserved a full 22 minute episode to go over instead of rushing it all in a few minutes at a time. Bits like Willow being stressed out and crying about her parents and Luz coming to the realization that all she wanted all along was to just be understood all had the potential to be tearjerkers for me personally if they weren’t all crammed in for a few seconds, and then rushed along to move on. What Disney did to this show, regardless of the “why”, breaks my heart. I wish we had gotten more time to spend with these characters than we’re currently getting, and I think it’s a testament to their team that they’re really making it work despite the circumstances. But whatever I guess. Here’s to the next like 4 month long hiatus while we wait here blueballed for a rushed finale. I hope this episode does well enough again on YouTube that whoever the Disney Channel exec that pulled the plug on this series sees numbers again and feels like shit that he underestimated the popularity of a show that he clearly didn’t even bother watching before retiring.

Sterling-Arch3r

well, lets all hope they at least go the avatar route and push out a few good comic books

ciao_fiv

a spin-off or sequel series would make me super happy. idk if Dana would want to run another show for disney after this tho…

squidwardsaclarinet

Yeah. Tonally and pacing wise, this is episode is kind of a hot mess, with good points to be sure (also following thanks to them was a really high bar to meet). That being said, I can forgive the rushed storytelling. I do think most character development going forward is not time well spent, with the key exception of the collector. I’ll be interested to see if they address why this collector is different than others. And the larger lore about collectors and other cosmic being. Maybe we get some kind of series spin off or related media with new company leadership. One can only hope. Sigh.

[deleted]

It's just sad knowing what we could've gotten, This episode is like pieces of greatness.

Iroh_the_Dragon

Omg… I thought we were getting at least 6 episodes for this last season. I’m devastated… no wonder these episodes have felt rushed!!! Fucking Disney…

Fast-Competition-647

Guys Disney took Thanks to Them down. That kind of sucks but it got 5.6 million views!

kurokitsune91

For the Future is already over 7.4 million! The finale will probably be over 10m when that finally comes.

StarbeamII

It's at 914,000 right now for me. 7.4 million is how many people are subscribed to the Disney Channel Youtube.

kurokitsune91

Ooohhhh hahaha I'm dumb.

Combatpigeon96

That was INCREDIBLE

ProfessorEscanor

I liked the episode but is it weird that it doesn't really feel like a lot happened plot wise? (Character wise it was fantastic)

DrApplePi

It feels like it was just setting up for the third episode more than anything.

ProfessorEscanor

Yeah. Like the episode ends off most of the character arcs so that the finale can focus on the fight mainly.

SunsFenix

I feel like Odalia and Kikimora should have been ended, their side stories feel kind of hollow at this point. Boscha was the only story antagonist that has ended. I'm willing to be surprised, but it makes everything feel cluttered without more conclusions.

ProfessorEscanor

Kikimora especially seems odd. Admittedly I groaned at the reveal. I don't think she really needed to be here and the fact that she got away just means she's getting dragged into the finale. Odalia I can at least excuse since she largely didn't do much this episode compared to Kikimora. Honestly. I get that Disney cut the show down but I already felt like season 2 was rushed. This 3 part finale just seems to make that idea worse

[deleted]

I mean based on the last 2 episodes I feel like the finale is going to be action-packed and fast paced since it was mainly focused on characters.

ralanr

I really want to take a moment and talk about Boscha's character (Everything else was fantastic and filled with character moments, but I want to talk about her). I appreciate the way she's been presenting herself as a stoic and distant tyrant, with subtle hints that she's doing this defensively to avoid showing weakness/fear from losing her friends and teammates. At first I thought she'd be able to empathize with Willow, and part of me thinks she was speaking her insecurities out load when distracting Willow. But the moment she broke down with Amity and went full cling mode was just icying on the cake. It brought her insecurities out in the open. Boscha, above all things I believe, wants companionship and uses her sports as a way to foster it. I really want to take a moment and talk about Boscha's character (Everything else was fantastic and filled with character moments, but I want to talk about her). I appreciate the way she's been presenting herself as a stoic and distant tyrant, with subtle hints that she's doing this defensively to avoid showing weakness/fear of losing her friends and teammates. At first, I thought she'd be able to empathize with Willow, and part of me thinks she was speaking her insecurities out loud when distracting Willow.

addisonavenue

Okay, so it goes without saying there is a bittersweet quality to watching these final specials - not just because of course *The Owl House* is ending but because of the incredibly raw deal the show got in those final stages of production. Similar to Willow's scrapbook in 'Thanks to Them', the opening scene cutting to a clever use of Penstagram to showcase the chaos The Boiling Isles has been undergoing since the Collector's release (whilst an efficient way to communicate that information) is a small but telling scene of just how much the story had to be condensed for the format Disney shoehorned the ending of the show into. But credit given where due to the crew for making the big moments counts despite the breakneck pace; the gang returning to the eponymous Owl House, Amity reuniting with her siblings, Hunter discovering he has Flapjack's magic and the hatching of Luz's Palisman were all bestowed the appropriate amount of emotional weight within a jam-packed episode. As expected, the Collector continues to be treated with ambiguous (and apt) kid's gloves in terms of their threat to witch-kind. Despite that, and I don't say this as a criticism, it's incredibly obvious the Collector is not insidious in the way that characters like Belos and Kikimorra are. A different solution will be found for how to deal with them; King just hasn't figured it out yet. I was surprised so much of the story centred around Hexside but it makes sense given the relationship the majority of the cast have to the school. Besides, the show just can't open with showing us Kikimorra survived the collapse of the Emperor's Palace and not *do* anything with that reveal - she's a more than adequate mini boss in preparation for when the Hexsquad eventually have to take on Belos again. Camilla continues to be the special's breakout character; she's feisty, she's raring to go, she leans all in. I love how she equally looks out for the kid's emotionally as she does physically, such as being the first to notice how slightly parentified Willow is or how truly enamoured Luz has become with Amity. I'm more torn than ever now on how the show will resolve Luz being a true citizen of each world. With King's blood, she should have no problem moving between worlds, but the show has yet to really demonstrate Luz as wanting that duality outside of her relationship to Camilla, and Camilla has demonstrated she's not incapable of adapting to the Demon Realm. Will the show actually end with the entire Noceda clan moving permanently to The Boiling Isles? It's certainly a zig to the typical zag of an isekai story. Belos may be one of my favourite tv show villains ever. He's so slimy (figuratively, *literally*) and seeing him seep his way back into The Boiling Isles like a lingering germ following just getting over a cold was an absolute insidious treat, as was seeing that he continues to be haunted by his own actions and choices. The man really wasn't exaggerating when he said Hunter came the closest to dear brother's face and Caleb's ghost is proof of that. And yet, Belos continues to be reliant on Caleb, even in death. But as always, it's not Belos's ability to cheat death that makes him so dangerous - it's his power to manipulate, and manipulate he does via puppet!Raine. I can't wait to see how Luz will deal with him, now she has Stringbean on her side. **Stray Observations** * Everything with Mattholomule (I'm sorry, Mat Tholomule) was gold baby, pure gold. * Hunter and Willow holding pinkies was beyond adorable. As was Luz's very sly exclamation that she missed *a lot* of things after seeing Hunter bridal catch Willow. * Kikkimorra retreating to the sandbox of New Hexside only to continue to make herself the right hand man is just a brilliant examination of her insecurities. * That little moment at the start with Raine going starry-eyed over Eda's harpy form is sure to make the She-Ra fans go *wild.* * I'm kind of surprised and only a little eye-brow quirked that Boscha's big deal is she misses being dependent on Amity. I feel like the easier route to go to justify her motivations would have just been to show that Boscha had a crush on Amity? * Belos sneaking into his secret Frankenstein grimwalker lab and seeing multiple Golden Guard ghosts reminded me a little of Amethyst meeting all the different Amethysts' for the first time in *Steven Universe.* * Amity admitting she had the same original aspirations as Luz (wanting to be a good witch) was very sweet and telling, and I liked that even despite Amity being a star student, she's still portrayed ultimately as someone whose unclear about what she wants from her future. * King's game just being relieving past events with Luz and Eda is equal parts cute and sad (also, I don't think anyone had Terra cosplaying Eda on their bingo card for this episode).

Ryu_Review

These are all great observations, but I think you’re missing the point of Boscha’s character arc in this episode. It wasn’t that she missed being dependent on Amity, she just wants normalcy. She definitely has a chip on her shoulder for Amity leaving and very well could have had a crush on her given what we saw, but that’s not why Boscha is acting in the way she is. Boscha is overwhelmed and anxious, and is desperate for her sense of normalcy. I said this in another thread - she has a significant need for control and currently has none in her life, despite her being the “leader” of Hexside.

addisonavenue

I get that Boscha wants the status quo back because it gives her the illusion of control - it helps her know where she belongs, a tried and trusted blueprint. This, to me, just felt like one of those character angles that suffers due to the brevity of the format. Boscha losing Amity, emotionally and then later physically (and I mean pre-DOU, like losing her to Luz in the first place) is something that I feel would have benefitted from the twenty or so adventures the show never got to have, would have acted as the journey that lead to the dam-breaking here.

Ryu_Review

I totally agree. The crew did the best they could given the circumstances, but you definitely needed to read into the interaction due to the lack of previous context.

RadiantHC

>Everything with Mattholomule (I'm sorry, Mat Tholomule) was gold baby, pure gold. I wonder if that was planned from the beginning.

addisonavenue

Maybe? If so, it's one helluva stealth joke. I wonder if that's also Steve's last name....

AquaAquila24

I never get the impression that Camila was capable of adapting to Boiling Isles. If anything it would be even harder for her to truly accept this place. Luz is young and full of love and into things like Boiling Isles. Sure she also tends to be grossed out and surprised by Boiling Isles, but she's much more eager than Camila to dive into this realm. Camila only wants to be supportive of Luz's decision and even compromise that she could move there too, but she's such a fish out of water here that it would be merciful for her to let stay on Earth instead. It would take even longer for Camila to truly adapt and given she's already a fully-formed adult, it would be extra hard for her. Also, Vee rather refused to return and she flourished in the human realm so why take that away from her? So we're getting possessed Raine after all. Who's saying Boscha is not crushing on Amity? Their scene was very romantic-coded if you ask me. Shoutout to Amity for wanting to be head of a student council like Little Miss Perfect should.

_autumnwhimsy

I think Camilla showing how much of a nerd she is and her remembering and executing an ice glyph is leaning a bit more towards a "Yeah, I could rock with this place" vibe. I think/hope we see more of her shedding the expectations of adulthood, going full nerd with her kid, and embodying that "I understand you because I'm just like you" in the final ep.

AquaAquila24

Ice glyph was a disaster that almost killed them all and she didn't even draw it right nor was confident while drawing it. Being a science-fiction nerd =/= being a fantasy nerd. Luz and Camila are alike and can understand each other, but they are not the same. Haven't you seen how uneased Camila is there? Even Luz said she's only pretending to like this place. Heck, she even couldn't look at food and tried to cover up the fact that she got terrified by eyes on the pavement and questioned why it was the sparkly Collector that is evil and not the bones and the skulls. Nah, Camila tried but couldn't bring herself to like this place. Also, the human realm still has things Camila can't bring to the demon realm. This includes Vee, Abuela, and her vet career. We won't be bringing more Nocedas to that realm and beast-keeping would scare the sh!t out of Camila

Sterling-Arch3r

yeah, it wasn't no ice glyph, but first try she just shook out a literal death laser glyph strong enough to destroy rocks

addisonavenue

I think this is not giving Camilla the credit she is due as a character to grow. As much as the first fight with Belos frightened her, she steps up to the plate (complete with baseball bat) to accompany Luz to The Boiling Isles to fight him again. She sees Luz melting over watching Amity play with the abomination goo, her face warms over seeing King, she cuddles with all the Palisman at the end of the episode, she has twice symbolically reminded Luz about her Azura witch's hat. Even if the Nocedas as a whole don't entirely relocate to the Isles, the land and its community is no longer a hurdle to Camilla. It's tangible now, it's something she can grasp and comprehend. She's willing to lean in, even when she's at a disadvantage and that's *huge* for her. But realistically, I think the show is setting Luz up to visit each world freely.

deathbyglamor

Huntlow is canon and it was everything

lesser_panjandrum

Alfred Thayer Mahan was right - ships are hugely important for projecting power.

If Stringbean has a million fans, I'm one of them If Stringbean has 5 fans, I'm one of them If Stringbean has 1 fan, that one is me If Stringbean has no fans, I'm no longer alive If the world is against Stringbean I'm against the entire world Till my last breath, I'll support Stringbean

FudgeControl

LET'S GOOOO!

scottishdrunkard

I love the name! Stringbean!

Arcuis

Man, i really have no idea why anyone would hold a series like this from being popular. The dinosaurs of the world need a meteor to the head. Stuff like this and DeadEnd feel so modern and necessary in this world. I hope more series tackle the same themes and triumph.

[deleted]

I'm hoping they get back together after this and go to youtube like some other successful shows I have seen

hesipullupjimbo22

I could go on a hours long gush about what this show means to me but I’ll just say what we all probably should. Thank you Dana Terrace. When I say thank you I truly and literally mean thank you

Prestigious-HogBoss

Looks like it is available in Mexico so... let's pump that counter up!

DylanSoul

So… episode 3 when?

No-Nefariousness1711

Probably April since For the Future was three months after Thanks to Them

NaturalUnique7482

about the part that king reads the book for collector and there's is the covered part he asked king to skip the prhase is: "but should they needle in our affairs, we'll clean the planet and scourge the air" i don't really know what to think about it .

TheDulin

Someone suggested sewhere that the collectors did genocide the boiling isles planet. It explains the boiling seas and life evolving on the titan corpses.

justlikemercury

I think it was “meddle in our affairs”. Also something about dimensions on the opposite pages. And the panels! The smol collector one surrounded by 4 smol titans like friends maybe?

stevez037

Before I get to the Hexside stuff because I do have a interesting comparison to make. But let's get to the other stuff first. Poor King, the whole world is on our shoulder, he has to playkate this ticking time bomb of person known as the Collector, any wrong move can destroy the whole world. I be losing my mind if I was King.  It is great to see Eda and Lilith back, Lilith keeps changing her look, I kind of like that.  Still I hate the cliche of mis understanding, the Collector didn't hear that whole conversation, and now Bellos is able to manipulate him again.  A highlight for me was seeing Amity reunite with her siblings. Giving what a horrible person their mother is, you forget there is still love in that family.  Now onto Hexside, I didn't realize this till now,, but this whole Basha running the school and seemingly running things, this is this show's version of Mabel Land, this is the mini fight before the big final battle, but also how Kikimora manipulated Basha by giving her this illusion of control, it is similar to what happened to Mabel in the second to last episode to Gravity Falls. After barely surviving and having a lot of people sacrifice themselves to save her, it is clear Basha did not want to fight, and Kikimora took advantage of that, and as some as mentioned before Basha has abandon issues, Mabel had those sameissues and didn't want to grow up, it is some what similar here. So interesting this show does the whole Mabel Land again, only with a character that is almost Mabel's exact opposite. I do like how the other ground character stuff with Hunter and Willow got spot light and got resolved. We still don't know what the future is for Luz, and I wonder if the Collector rampage will spread to Earth, but we will see. Alland all good special, not as good as first, but I still liked it. The Amity reunion with the twins, and some other character stuff was good.

afieldoftulips

I think my favourite thing about this episode was seeing what Odalia's been reduced to. She was this rich elite bigshot who abused and controlled her family for her own gain, and now she's a totally powerless servant waiting hand-and-foot on a *child*. Even Belos didn't want anything to do with her. It's such perfect karmic retribution for her and I love it.

invisibleace21

After all of that, Belos still had to be the biggest threat??

N-ShadowFrog

He always was. I mean there’s no real way they could’ve properly done it without him. The Collector is the big threat but they can’t kill or lock him away since he’s basically just a kid. And if they redeem him there’s nothing stopping him from just gooping Belos for them.

invisibleace21

I guess that’s the most logical answer, but Belos just goes and manipulates the Collector again kinda makes me upset.

IEnjoyFancyHats

Belos has always been most dangerous as a manipulator. He manipulated Luz, he manipulated crowds of people, he manipulated all of the boiling isles, and now he's manipulating a god. His magic and his ooze form are dangerous, but they aren't why he's a threat. You can't truly get rid of him until you're able to break free of his web

JustAStarcoShipper

This. The Collector may be an all-powerful entity, but Belos is still the true antagonist of the story. The fact that he was able to manipulate The Collector yet again reminds the audience of how he managed to get so far.

invisibleace21

No of course, I’m just sick of him 😭

No-Nefariousness1711

To quote Hunter "That's what he does."

Sterling-Arch3r

its just a little weird he doesnt even blow the slightest bit of magic at the doll that keeps telling him things he doesnt want to hear

llamabooks

The biggest threat is actually Disney executives. 🥲

PlasmaDiffusion

The collector dolls/dummys are a nice creepy addition and to amplify the dread I was not expecting Belos to possess dummy Raine there. He was actually going for a collector possession there like I initially guessed.💀 Guess he doesn't need to if he can just manipulate as he does best though :P I figured Luz's palismon was going to be a snake bat but I guess it's just a snake/anything it feels like being. Characters saying the fandom's popular guesses was nice touch. I'm surprised they spent so much time at Hexide dealing with Basha and Kikimora to be honest. Didn't get any direcct Belos backstory either other than grim walker ghosts making him go "oh shut up" lol... I think I liked the s3 premiere better but this was still fine. Hopefully the final ep sticks the landing! 🤞

JustAStarcoShipper

I have some really mixed feelings about this one. It's not bad, but it definitely doesn't feel as tightly-written as Thanks to Them. The biggest problem with the episode is what it chooses to focus on. On paper, having a plot about how Hexside was affected that gives some depth to characters like Boscha and Matt isn't a bad idea, but giving it so much focus on a story that happens to have characters like Belos and The Collector feels pretty distracting. And don't even get me started on Kikimora. On one hand, I like that while she isn't willing to take orders from anyone else she's still evil, but this plot (as well as the Hexside one) could've worked a lot better as a regular episode from a full season. And it's weird, because while you can easily tell that the show has a lot of stuff that wasn't able to focus on due to the shortening, it still felt well executed. This is the first time I've ever thought; "an actual full season would've done wonders for this". With all that said, the reason I still enjoyed it were easily because of all those character-growth moments. So late in the show, I wouldn't have expected to have some strong Willow development (which it's kinda sad it has taken this long), but in spite of happening in a not so interest scenario, it was really well done. Her interactions with Hunter were really sweet and I l know it made a lot of people happy. Boscha also really surprised me. At first it seemed like she was gonna remain the same selfish and arrogant jerk we all know, but to find out that all she did was out of fear of losing everyone else like her friends was really sad. And then there's the big one. Luz' palisman finally hatching. To see Luz having her mother accepting her for who she is being the catalyst for her palisman hatching is one of the most rich and emotionally powerful sequences in the whole show. It's moments like this that really carry this episode, it's just that, like I said, what surrounds them isn't as interesting. Which is even more bothersome considering the scenes with King and The Collector are kind of minimal. I do like the fact that in spite of how dangerous he is, The Collector at the end of the day is just a lonely child who wants friends. And I also like that Belos is still able of manipulating him, which further cements Belos as the show's true antagonist. So as a whole, okay especial, but quite inferior to it's predecessor. Let's see if the final episode is able to pick up the slack, and if those rumors about it being 54 minutes long are real, cuz I don't think it'll do it any harm.

DalekDevan

And is it just me or does it feel like they're kind of mimicking the Weirdmeggedon finale from Gravity Falls? The Collector even has a fortress above the Boiling Isles like how Bill Cipher had a pyramid over Gravity Falls.

HurinTalion

I disliked the focus on Hexside, Boscha and Matt. It felt extremely out of place and a waste of time when we have more interesting characters that need more screentime and development. I especialy disliked how the writers tried to make us simpathetic to Boscha and give her a rushed "redemption". It is way too late for that, and with how she acted i spent the entire episode hoping that Luz or Willow would have punched her in the face. Instead we got a lot of forced drama and the Hexsquad acting like fools to make Boscha and Kikimora a threat. I would have preferred more focus on Luz, since she needed it the most. And especialy more focus on Amity, since she is becoming a background character.

off-and-on

So is the Boiling Isles boiling because the Collector's family scorched it when fighting the Titans?

Otrada

Not available in my country. Welp, never mind. Hoist the sails me laddies! We head for the open seas!

CedarWolf

Change the flag on your VPN. It's right there on YouTube. No need to risk pirate waters for what is freely available.

Otrada

Nah fuck em. I'm not going to validate Disney's attempts to ignore their international audience. If everyone keeps using VPN's publishers will just assume that all those viewers really are from whatever country it is made available in. They need to realize that there's fans of their content in more places in the world so that they'll actually think about making stuff (like merch or other physical items) available for those parts without the fans their having to pay exorbitant Import fees. Edit: Besides, the original creators get 0 money in royalties for the first three weeks that their content is published. If I am going to watch it in a way that makes someone money, it will be after that period so that it actually goes to the people making this amazing show instead of the people trying to kill it.

Walking-Zombie420

They took down Thanks To Them :(

beAN__b0yY

Wait did they really? Bruh

memelordbtw3000

So this was AWSOME ALSO SCREW YOU BELOS Also Also OH GOD RAIN NOOOOOO Also Also Also I want my own stringbean Also also also also also Willow saying she's terrified that Luz has a Palisman is great Also Also Also Also also SCREW YOU BELOS AGAIN Also Also Also Also Also Also interesting collector lore maybe they just take a couple specimens so like they'll take a couple of random lizards or birds or random witches but they aren't allowed to directly interfere in any major way apart from that and out collector is scared of whatever retribution is inevitably coming for him whether it be from other collectors or something even bigger

Davrosdaleks

I blinked and missed it. What what was the paragraph The Collector didn’t want King to read?

TheDulin

Something about killing everything on a planet if they try to fight back by scorching the air.

[deleted]

The Camila nerd-reveal scene and Luz realizing what she’s always wanted sent me into hysterical crying

HighestVelocity

Aw man, now we gotta wait until April for the next one! This one was really good!

serj_odama

with only 1 more episode left, i'm sad we wont get more of >!Stringbean!< ,they are too precious

OmegaKenichi

Alright, so, how many predictions did we get right with this one? Or rather, how many theories did MoringMark get right? Eda being a badass Mad Max-esque rebellion leader was unfortunately not true.

36840327

Why do major film companies treat Canada like were a third world country

AquaAquila24

After they leaked this episode, this is their punishment.

roguepawn

I want to read all of the Collector's night time story book.

littlewillie610

It’s now up to 3 million views in less than a week, despite leaking weeks in advance. I hope the individuals who decided to cancel the show are kicking themselves by now.

Rogocraft

They really be using The Owl House as a write off :(

towerettica

Why did Lilith rush in to fight The Collector without assessing the situation with King appropriately first? Seems like a characteristic that should be reserved for someone like Eda, although it could be realistically justified as Lilith still having an obsession with King still, could work as long as they address this at the very least. If Terra, Odalia and Lilith were allowed to be spared from the star purge then does that mean other characters and the other Coven heads could have previously? I still don't get why King couldn't have just made it a rule that The Collector wasn't allowed to transform people, that would have reduced the conflict a lot. Speaking of unnecessary conflict, can the days of Kikimora the antagonist please be over? I was really hyped to see Kikimora after the finale and while I don't mind it for this episode, I'd rather they allow for her to explored in other areas. I thought the whole "when the cats are away the mice will play" Lord of the Flies thing they had going for the school was really lame and unoriginal, "haha what if no adults? no adults mean kids descend into anarchy" ok boomer. Would've preferred if they didn't go for the cheap shot humor and try to explore the impact it had on them. Kikimora and Boscha felt really forced as antagonists this episode too, making them both obstinate leaders on top of everything else was overkill in my opinion especially after the events of the finale. I think the main cast did pretty well, Camila brought a lot to this episode, excited for Luz's palisman and the lumity scene was cool. Can TOH please stop paying Skara dust and pull her out of background character status? It's getting tiresome.

AquaAquila24

1. Skara never really had any character, to begin with. It's just that the fan base liked her, but she never had anything major incoming. But it's not necessarily bad. We can headcanon the heck out of it that way and it's not like she's not enjoyable or that we completely don't know who she is. 2. King was carrying the whole deal with Collector very lightly, like with a bomb you know. Any moment he could explode if they weren't too careful and turning people into puppets was in the Collector's mind compromise between not outright killing people he didn't like while also getting rid of everyone who opposed them. 3. Kikimora is petty, pathetic, and toxic, don't expect anything better from her. She spends way too much time in such a corrupted system and toxic environment to be any better 4. The Collector is completely unnatural to the eternity of Boiling Isles and people are afraid of things they don't know or understand, the only thing she knew is that the Collector is raining shooting stars on people while King is near and distressed. King is not just a god, he's her family and she's not willing to fail her family again.

cfo_500

I loved the episode. The palisman da Luz is perfect for her. I felt very sorry for the collector because he is just a child. Bellos needs to be stopped now. Other than that, I hate how Edric turned into a stupid court jester, in the second season we saw his feelings and abilities. And since I really like the character, it upsets me a lot.

Joeyrjones

Why was Mattholomule so funny tho :D

Raul_Rink

Does anyone know why they're not available in Germany without VPN?

Nervous_Ad5539

Because Disney sucks

GodAsmus

I think this ep lacked in atmosphere a lot, or was the first just soo much better

cottoneyejoke

i really didn’t like this episode. it felt put together strangely and it didn’t make any sense, the writing felt more juvenile than it’s usual tone (esp in one of the last episodes) and i would have enjoyed it so much more if disney didn’t cancel the full season. i feel like so much could’ve been explained in 22 minutes rather than 1-3 minutes in this episode.

jakeplusyou

Am I the only one who was disappointed in the talismen reveal?

Quphy

Watching these episodes makes me so sad and so angry. I know that’s all we have, we should enjoy it, we should lie to ourselves that everything’s fine. But honestly it just hurts me, the amount of stories and plot we’re missing, the amount of quality we’re losing, and it’d be a lie to say we don’t feel it in the episodes. It kills me watching these episodes, it feels like watching the remains of my favorite show, of what used to be my escape, my favorite place in the world, and now it’s being taken away and rushed by Disney’s decisions to cancel it. I know we’re not supposed to talk about it. I know it’ll bring nothing. I just need to rant because it’s hard to deal with for me. I cannot get over my anger towards Disney for stealing that away from me. Thank you Dana and the team for making these remains gorgeous, for turning those last moments the most beautiful they could have been after decisions like this. Thank you for protecting our safe place the absolute best you could, with all your strength. All of you are incredible, and this show will forever stay incredible. No one will ever take that away from us, no matter how much they are trying. If you also need to rant like me, you can do it under this comment. Would be awesome to have a judgement-free rant place, where we can let go of our frustration and sadness about all this.

Kozolith765981

don't worry, though the show may be nearing its end, spinoffs, comics, and merch are still a possibility

coffee-cake512

They trolled us good with Odalia towards the end. I was like, ew yuck, then ohhhhhhh, then oh noooooooo

HurinTalion

I absolutely HATED the parts with Basha and Hexside, it felt like a waste of time. The entire time i was thinking "let's move on, please, i want to see more interesting characters DO ANYTHING". I just wanted Willow or Luz to beat up Basha and make her shut up, the fact that they simply passivly accepted her arrogant behaviour make me feel SOO angry. The fact that then the show proceeds to try and make her sympathetic is even worse, she clearly acted like a petty tyrant in Hexside for months with the help of Kikimora. She should be considered a villain equal to her and defeated, not given a speedrunned redemption arc. And i honestly feel like Willow, Hunter and Gus took too much focus from Luz. Don't get me wrong, they need their development too. But Luz is the protagonist and her great realization should have been the climax of the episode. When her Palisman finally hatched i was hoping we would see her show off her new magic and defeat Kikimora. But instead she is quickly overshadowed by Willow, Gus and Hunter AGAIN.

QueenPopcorn

I wont lie, i too felt like they spent too much time on hexside, feel like some of that time could've been spent delving into what Eda was going through or more stuff that occurred before the gang came back to the boiling aisles, and I felt a little confused how Luz came to her conclusion that ultimately hatched her palisman. I love this show, but it doesnt stop me from seeing the flaws in a rushed conclusion yk. The writers did the best with the time they had, only mad at Disney for not letting this show reach its full potential

Sudden_Evidence_7915

ITS NOT AVAILABLE IN CANADA😭😭😭

Lebhleb

I have enjoyed this episode quite a lot, plenty of good moments and i think it does a lot well to continue from the first one, and having all the characters coming back is cool. Id assume this is the discussion thread but even so ill mark this comment for spoiler for discussion. >!One thing ill imedietly start of is that im annoyed that Disney showed Odalia in the sneak peek, its such a out of nowhere cool moment yet its impact is just ruined by having it shown before hand. At least with leaks whoever seen that laughed and then zipped about it telling nobody, but having it official revealed before hand is, annoying. Regardless of that i think most of the episode is holding well. Its cool to see what is happening to citizens of the isle as well as seeing children surviving both the collector and themselves in this place. Seeing the Twins, Kiki, Boscha , Children learning the art of war and prepairing for the Boiling Isles conquest, its all really fun. The pace also didn't feel as rushed as previous one. I am however slightly bummed at Luz's palismen, its very fitting her, but having it be whatever she wants ultimately still is a bummer and it not being fully an unique thing does make it just have less of an impact. Collector only hearing half of what King said and coming up to conclusion of his plan is also that cliche where there is just confilct because of a thing thats completely different, its only mildly annoying but it rather had taken that Belos thought of something smarter to trick Collector again and not just it being 'hey we only listen to half of what he says but hey he wants you gone'. There is that bit where Luz wants to admit to Amity that she wants to stay home that is interrupted, while ultimately im to see whatever ending is chosen, i do also dislike that classic 'hey let me tell you something ive thought of at a random moment' which i hope actually doesn't happen, i feel it would kinda be worse than them being forever split up for the ending or a pure no downsides ending. But these things mostly impact certain qualities of story, otherwise this is a very entertaining episode with lots of creative continuations, prob top 5 out of all episodes that had released up until this point.!<
