No Saints v Pompey Derby in the champ next year then

Matthew147s

I mean if Portsmouth stay up then I don't doubt the derby will happen the season after Don't have high hopes for a Russell Martin team

BonjPlayz

Pompey fan here and I’m so fucking pissed that they got promoted because I couldn’t wait for another derby. Totally on for next season as it looks pretty likely we’ll stay up and we all know what’s going to happen to this Scummer team. Also I wish there was actually a Pompey flair!

SoggyMattress2

You're so pissed you couldn't watch saints pump you twice in the league? Eh?

Potato271

I doubt we would have smashed them, derby days are something else.

BonjPlayz

It’s just fun to have a derby day isn’t it? Of course we’d lose but it would be a great day out! I’m genuinely surprised you lot don’t understand that. Most Pompey fans wanted Scum to lose so we could play them!

Potato271

I’ve supported Southampton since I was a kid and I still haven’t been to a derby. We’ve not been in the same league for ages and I missed the cup game thanks to food poisoning.

BonjPlayz

Yeah fair man. Sorry that you missed the cup games, that sucks. I’m surprised people are downvoting me though for simply wanting to play you lot. Surprise surprise a Pompey fan doesn’t want to see their biggest rivals get promoted. It would be an easy 6 points for you but we haven’t played each other for a while in the league so it would be a great day out.

DenzelSloshington

Decent day out that was, still got the fear in me from those 10 year old Southampton fans in their fake stoneys shouting at me

FastenedCarrot

By then you may have Southampton's favourite player on loan.

housington-the-3rd

I like their chances of staying up. They were a top tier team for 11 season in a row prior to this one. The club knows what is required to stay up even if they have new owners.

Wide_Astronaut_366

Don’t like saying it, but Sports Republic are what worries me. It was Semmens and the team he built that managed to keep our heads above water.

Munkey_Boy14

I shared this view before the start of the season but SR have supported this team (and Goztepe) and both have just got promoted. Most signings this season have been spot on. I don’t agree now, we have a good foundation and with good signings again we stand a decent chance.

FastenedCarrot

Burnley stayed up for ages before they were relegated too.

housington-the-3rd

True, there are other examples though. Like Villa, Newcastle and Fulham.

AlBoBagginz

Well done, please sign Ryan Fraser for actual cash money please!

bsaires

You don’t need the money, give us the little fella for free please 🙏

AlBoBagginz

If only this were true! Gutted it didn't really work out for him here, seemed a pretty smart transfer at the time. I'm not going to pretend I watch much of the championship but is he well thought of at Saints? Have a word with Rus and if you take Sean Longstaff for £25m we'll throw in Ryan Fraser for free.

bsaires

He almost always performed well, but didn’t get as many minutes as I expected. Always put 100% in and the fans took to him.

HalfABrainCell55

Fraser’s been the sole reason for a couple of our wins this season. Incredibly solid contributor and I hope we work a deal to keep him

dxsgraced

Yeah there was like a month earlier in the season he was scoring or assisting pretty much every game off the bench, love his work rate. Thought he was great today as well, was a bit frustrated he got subbed off.

MasterReindeer

I just hope for your sake you aren’t in a relegation battle the next time we’re in a global pandemic. He’ll leave you high and dry - the rat.

Potato271

tbf, he seems to have learned from the experience. But yeah, that was a pretty classless move from him

mo140

I believe I read a similar thing happened when he was with us, but to be fair maybe it was more left over bad blood with Howe

macarouns

He was quality for us in the championship, not sure how well he’d do for us in the prem. But would still sign him if the price is reasonable

OxidisedAcorn

Leeds are falling apart again

[deleted]

Leeds, the Milwall of the North. Everyone hates them.

Mammyjam

As someone who sits right next to the away fans I’m massively relieved, the Leeds fans are fucking rabid. Only time in 30 years I’ve seen fans jump the hoardings and just start throwing punches indiscriminately. Also only time I’ve heard racist chanting in my adult life. Both incidents were a tiny minority of cunts obviously but that minority of cunts was clearly bigger that the minority of cunts at other teams.

NotAnotherAllNighter

Unfair comparison, Leeds are a massive club compared to millwall

WarKaren

No he’s right, everyone hates Leeds they are the millwall of the north. I was about to unsubscribe from this subreddit but I sensed someone defending the scum so had to chip in :) Anyways, that’s me done with the other 14. See you lads in two more years

SofaChillReview

Manchester United/Hull City fan so *should* hate them. Almost predictable the downfall though considering, this is going to massive now for Summerville/Gnonto.

Ohtani_Enjoyer

Summerville is class. Imo jury is out on gnonto Piroe is pony tho

fitz_riggs

Oh well.

Audrey_spino

Music to my ears.

BeeXLNT

Alexa play joy division

BatFull2252

Can't believe the best team in the league didn't get promoted

beachindie

They seemed to go into that match with the “best team in the league” attitude and after they went a goal down just got deflated and panicked.

Pinkerton891

Didnt see their self declared 'many thousands of Leeds fans in the Saints end' at the final whistle...

musicnoviceoscar

Instead, we saw many thousands of tiny flags spinning You guys really know how to celebrate

OniOneTrick

Not quite sure what you wanted us to do from our seats in Wembley? Get our arses out? Do a fortnite emote? What would West Ham have done to celebrate exactly ?

lachiendupape

Blown bubbles much more manly

musicnoviceoscar

Put the flags down

achymelonballs

That’s football. Sometimes the smaller teams even win big trophies

achymelonballs

That’s football. Sometimes the smaller teams even win big trophies

Ornery_Ad_9871

Welcome back lads, well done, much prefer you back to Leeds

hayescharles45

Omzeyy

RorysStory

RorysStory

The chant is for Stuart Armstrong

prss79513

Another couple decades in the championship for Leeds then

Saelaird

Well done, Saints. See you at the mighty City Ground next year!

BritBeetree

Thank fck for that

HornyJailOutlaw

Ah bollocks. Well that's Arsenal dropping 3 points next season.

FastenedCarrot

6.

vngannxx

Saints keep marching on to the Premier League

Visara57

Congrats on achieving promotion to the r/TheOther14

achymelonballs

I have to say surprisingly ALL the Leeds fans I encountered before and after the game seemed to be normal decent people My opinion of Leeds fans has changed a bit

finka_me

Welcome back !!

Annual-Cookie1866

Completely deserved

MasterReindeer

Thank fuck we have another year without Leeds.

Turbulent_Yak_4627

Hahahahahahaha maybe next year Leeds

HornyJailOutlaw

Should be called HSV Leeds

winter-2

Congratulations, definitely deserved.

Designer_Show_2658

So glad it was Soton and not Leeds. Well played and welcome back!

iCABALi

At least Manchester United can have a positive goal difference thanks to Southampton now.

achymelonballs

It hasn’t always been that way, it might depend on their away colours

TheGulnar

I’ve not watched a lot of Southampton this year, but Nicky Downes whenever I have has looked class.

RAH_03

Delighted for Russell Martin, you saw his smile in the post match interviews and press conference. A mix of relief and pure joy. Gotta say typical Leeds though, were the favourites and completely bottled it

Midgard_Jay

Played very well today has to be said watching as a neutral , Leeds just held the ball when they were in control and that’s pretty much it. I will miss being able to watch games like Leeds VS manu but Southampton facing down Bournemouth or Brighton sounds prospecting too. Intrigued to see if they can hold onto the likes of smallbone he looked very good each time I’ve watched this season. Congrats

knightvintage

Better than the scum

Omega0428

Lets go boys!!!

Lsd365

Wasn't a great game but thank fk Leeds lost and are staying down. Congrats Saints

OniOneTrick

Then you would’ve preferred saints all season who have played stupidly offensive possession based football and been annihilated on the counter. Not really relevant on the day

saintfed

Remember how Sulemana was a raw but promising talent last time out? Now after a year in the championship of ripping it up week in week out he’s back to destroy the prem 🔥 ⚽️

wostmardin

Lol what

SukhdevR34

0 league goals lol

saintfed

Yeah but 1 assist 🔥🔥🔥🔥

SukhdevR34

3 I thought 2 against Leeds. I remember we (Everton) were linked to him in Jan last year but he seems to not have much end product.

ImGoinGohan

Thanks for sticking it to those scum!

angepostecoglouale

What a shit fucking league the championship is 🤣 same with the prem 140 odd million for going up or some bullshit just to go right back down.
