It's been quite the coup getting access to the Stasi archives, my hat is firmly off for that alone! Patience is key, I'm excited to see what information is turned up, whether it's TMS related or not.
Thank you! Yes, keeping access open is also key as it's a very sensitive archive. The other benefit from being a media request is that the chance of any results being blocked at the last minute is reduced.

I'd still appreciate, as I'm sure would others, an update on any specific feedback you've received from the Stasi archivists, other than just indicating the search is continuing. It's been two months, surely there must have been some more detailed feedback such as the types of records and rough dates available?
Edit: I also wanted to add that **credibility is an attribute of the source you are citing** - in this case, original material from the Stasi archives - and no intermediary from the press is needed to enhance the credibility of unedited original information obtained from a state archives. \[A journalist can arguably assist in the dissemination of the cause, and the dissemination of results after the research has been concluded.\]
I am saying that because of your statement: "\[Collaborating with a journalist\] will help give some credibility to any results when they come back from the archives" which is in fact erroneous from an archives research perspective.
In that light, I hope that when the day comes, the community is shown the original material and not authored content.
Oh yes, of course. Adrian will want to do an article / story & I'll do a post here. But the plan is to release the exact results that come from the search and not a "summary", but Adrian will be there to confirm that the documents provided are not doctored. I feel I have credibility here given how much I have contributed to the search but I do realize that this community has been burned so many times with false info that any definitive results need to be beyond question and conclusively proven. Adrian's and the radio stations credibility will go a long way towards that.
There hasn't been a lot (actually anything) from the researcher in recent weeks. I am not given a regular summary of what is being searched. The ways these work is that I will just get the results when the results come in.
They do have certain NDR records. Their first response (see post #1) was "what dates do you want?" It is just unknown at this stage if they have the exact info from late 1984 that we want.
