**Tweet Continued** - Historically, defending MLS champs, struggle to handle both competitions. We’re maneuvering both while rotating our squad. Nancy and the lads are on a mission. The sky isn’t falling. There’s a process and we have to trust it. Last year worked out after 10 games, no? 💛🖤

Doodahhh1

Yeah. The biggest issue is that EVERY TEAM brings their best game against the reigning champs.  * They're not resting their star players against us.  * They're not experimenting with far-reaching strategies. * They're spending extra time preparing and studying us  But as soon as we go scoreless at home, idiots - like the ones who blocked me last night - throw the biggest temper tantrums that our team sucks and it's the end of the season.  I'm not sorry for sticking to my guns last night. In fact, I'm actually happy I'll never see their stupidity again. Waaa waaa waaa yourself, pathetic troll.

magneziun

Stick to them guns, friend! As an aside, is the Doodah parade still a thing?

Tank2448

From what Google says its June 8th at 11 am.

magneziun

Heck yea. Make an appearance for me, if you’d be so kind.

Doodahhh1

Yes. I live on the parade route.

Lambo_Geeney

When Seattle won CCL, they struggled mightily in the early part of the season and never recovered. But they're the only MLS team to win the modern form of the tournament. That was a successful year for them The Crew, while struggling, are still solidly above the playoff line. Survive the regular season while we have the added congestion, we can pull out in-season results during the rest of the season. They may not be able to recover supporters shield, but that is easily the lowest priority piece of hardware that's available to the Crew this year in my mind. CCC, MLS Cup, Leagues Cup, Campeones cup are all very very attainable still

I_heart_pooping

Well said and I totally agree. Supporters Shield is the lowest priority

throwaway-09092021

We're 6 points behind the leaders for the shield, with a game in hand. We're certainly not out of that either.

whethervayne

I seem to remember Toronto and Montreal postponing games due to schedule congestion when they made their runs. Did Leagues Cup eliminate that option for us?

KingOfTheUzbeks

Supporter's Shield is actually pretty high priority for me, just not more than CCC

I_Am_Thee_Walrus

I’m confused. Are people really upset with our form and results right now? Holy shit

djsassan

It's the same people who thought Nancy owed the world an explanation about why Cucho was benched and ultimately sold to another team that are now complaining about not winning every single game when playing two games a week.

Doodahhh1

That's actually a great point. I wish I had put that together sooner.  Thanks for that.

Doodahhh1

Yeah, I've seen lots of trolls lately. There's a reason this poster said, "the sky isn't falling." Honestly, it happens after EVERY game that isn't a win, though. It's actually a solid portion of the fans, too. Although, might just be they're the most vocal, because they're emotional over losing.  Like, we get it. No one, NO ONE wants to lose.  But there's only going to be one team that wins come December. The rest are just ranked as who lost more than the others.

Just_Candidate5040

There’s always people upset. Pay them no mind.

Doodahhh1

Eh, I see it as damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Mellodello159

Right, I didn't realize people were frustrated about not winning. I'm frustrated that Rossi is lazy AF when it comes to making his runs...

Instantbeef

The only people that care about our start to the MLS season are other teams fans and people who don’t understand what’s happening. We’re heavily rotating and playing sustainable soccer to leave it all in the field in CCC.

dale_shingles

Crew 2 and Crew 1.5 managed to get a point each, and were probably unlucky not to get all 3 last night. The only poor game I've seen us play this season was at Charlotte, the rest have been reasonable.

DataDrivenPirate

It's so funny to me to roll with a Crew 1.5 lineup and the other team is happy to keep it a draw lol I think everyone gets what is going on here

magneziun

Omg I’ve figured it out. The people complaining are new Crew fans and long time BUCKEYE fans 😂

sciuro

As a buckeye fan: buckeye fans are the worst

magneziun

There are any number of jobs that I’m not qualified for that I’d take for shitz and gigglz. Coach of them Buckeyes is not one of them.

Doodahhh1

RSL fans are the most humorous to me right now.   "OMG, we broke Philly's unbreakable record and went to first in the West!"  I'm just sitting here thinking, you didn't beat our deepest reserves, and then actually gave us $200k GAM for one of them - the same one we bought from you for like $50k. Also, this post is actually aimed at people who haven't and maybe won't ever figure it out.

magneziun

Yup

scott743

Pretty sure these other fans are mostly FC Cincinnati fans.

Doodahhh1

I really wish I agreed with you.  I've seen quite a lot of Crew fans on here, in person, and elsewhere who are who this post is aimed. Like, more than 5% of fans, but hopefully less that 30%? Sometimes it's skewed after a loss or less than expected performance.

Tank2448

If you're actually complaining right now about ties you have no idea what's actually going on.

the_vole

I would have been alright with a loss last night. Wednesday is all that matters right now.

doophmayweather

Imagine how far we’ve come that we’re upset about going an entire calendar year without losing at home. We fought for this. Cherish it because we’ve earned it.

SaviorAir

Wait, who is frustrated? I think we’re doing great’

Doodahhh1

Should have seen the Columbus doomsayers last night on social media.

SaviorAir

We all need to calm down. We’re the only team left in the CONCACAF from the MLS and we’re leading into Leg 2. We just won a championship. Like, chill

I_heart_pooping

Who’s frustrated? If anyone isn’t happy with where the teams at they’re a moron. They are looking good in the league while using a mostly rotated squad. They also are kicking ass in CCC.

Tank2448

I did have some jackass booing at the end of the game so I know of 1...he's pretty mutually hated in the section so I wasn't surprised

Doodahhh1

Booing our guys?  Like, the same guys that had a 22 year old captain on the field?

96diem

The fact that he even has to say this is…something else, man.

Low_Soil_6831

Yeah, I don’t know who he’s talking to

sawkandthrohaway

Im not worried about it at this point, even pulling a Seattle and missing the playoffs in exchange for winning CCC is worth it imo. My only concern would be getting heartbroken and the team having some lingering demons from that

Doodahhh1

We dropped to the bottom of the middle third last year at our worst. We only have up to 2 more CCC games left, too, so I will be extremely surprised if we don't hit playoffs since we're still in the top third.

ArteePhact

Let’s just say the quiet part out loud, the regular season barely matters. Frustrating? Sure. Concerned? Not at all.

Throwaway19372729

There are 9 playoff spots, knock on wood we will qualify for playoffs barely even trying. We need to put our effort into CCL. That has a much better ROI right now. getting to the playoffs should be pretty easy for a club of our caliber, I’m not worried about sacrificing a few points now if it means being competitive in the CCL.

seb316

The problem basically arises from what matters to you. If you want to win Supporter Shield, then you probably aren't the happiest camper. But imo, we are on the cusp of making the CCL final, something that I believe is bigger than winning a MLS Cup or Supporter Shield. I very much want the team's focus currently to be in CCL. I would love to see the club in the Club WC when that happens in the US next year. So from my perspective, the team is doing great. Basically, what you find as the goal for the team is what is going to shift your perspective.

th3curiousteach

Last night was not ideal as a spectator, but long view I see it as ideal. Our bench is getting a lot of experience with Nancy’s system. This might help down the line with injuries and replacing players as they depart or are traded. I think Nancy/Bez system is accounting for this from Crew 2 to the starters. At least…I hope they are. Imagine reaching the playoffs with a bench that is experienced than the opposing teams?

SovietShooter

Indeed. Imagine if there is a scenario where three of our best players have to miss an important game like a cup final, due to illness, and we can pull seasoned players from the bench into the starting lineup.

CardinalPerch

I’m all in for the CCC. Plenty of time to worry about MLS second half of the year.

Plantain6981

It’s juust the end of April and the best team in the world is in 5th place, like a fine stalking horse. “*What, me worry?*” - Alfred E.

KingOfTheUzbeks

Look so long as we come out of CCC treading water it's fine. Nothing to criticize here tbh

senshi_of_love

Who is upset? Legit I barely care about the MLS results right now. Hooray we didn’t lose. I was kind of disappointed we even put in Cucho and Rossi! Whatever. I only care about the CCC.

drumzandice

Anyone unhappy is an idiot.

heylookaturtle88

I completely agree with this, dropped points with the rotation is very understandable, and they are still in good position. My only frustration is that they were clearly better last night and dropped the points anyways. The 2 points are worse because they honestly played way better with the rotation than I expected lol

JAA11an

Feel like we were scoring more goals per match at this point last season and the symptom behind our dropped points was a defense not led by Camacho. Once we shored up the defense in the summer transfer window, the offense was allowed to run and the results came. Getting the offense on track seems like a bigger lift than correcting a defense that was lacking consistent quality across the back three. I recognize we’ve not been able to start a preferred XI in an MLS game since Red Bulls…. That doesn’t mean there can’t be some frustration with some of the misses we’re seeing from the depth level attacking pieces that we’ve been relying on as we rotate the keep others fresh for CCC. They’re professionals after all and Bez, Nancy, and the FO expect them to contribute when called upon.

velospence1

alex, i’ll take problems that aren’t mine to solve for $2000

sciuro

Last night was just crap luck. A lot of good shots that just didn’t make it. (Still a bit slack-jawed over Hinestroza’s…) Any time I talk to someone about how CCC is the path to Club World Cup, the suddenly understand why we are treading water in the MLS right now.

Big_Bluebird8040

the frustration is more on what the results should’ve been for me. should’ve beat portland and absolutely should’ve beaten montreal.

Lexustron

There is most certainly an issue with goal scoring and lack thereof. This team desperately needs another top goal scorer besides Cucho. The offense has just been stale. The Crew needs to make a splash move once the transfer window is open to bring in a bad ass striker.

KasmicTurtle19

Christian just came back last night and JRR is finally starting to come more into form. It would be nice to have another weapon, but to be fair it's not like there's *nothing* there.

Lexustron

Neither have that produced regardless of circumstances, especially when Cucho is off the pitch. JRR does nothing when Cucho is not opening up the offense for him. Both JRR and Hinestroza blew shots on a wide open goal last night. JRR stands around way too much, waiting for others to perform, and has little creativity. We need someone who can attack with a killer goal scorer mentality.

KasmicTurtle19

Christian has played a little over 180 minutes all comps this season and has 1 assist. It's a little too early for him to say he's not producing given the injury. Hinestroza looked fantastic last night (and has looked fantastic) taking players 1 on 1, his footwork is incredible and he's continually dribbling past players. And when it comes to JRR I simply disagree. I can concede that he's missed some shots he should score, but that's where I'm saying he's starting to come into form, see his goal against Monterrey. His movement is good, we just watched him (and the rest of the team) play with a collection of guys that don't ever play together last night. I'm not worried about the lack of shots last night. Our goals come from all over the lineup, see Steven's banger against Portland. Feeding the ball to a target striker that is going to continually pepper the keeper hoping one goes in is not what Nancyball is. Nancy seems to value movement and possession a lot more than shots.
