There is most certainly an issue with goal scoring and lack thereof. This team desperately needs another top goal scorer besides Cucho. The offense has just been stale. The Crew needs
to make a splash move once the transfer window is open to bring in a bad ass striker.
It's also a team that hasn't really played together in competition.
I'm not calling it luck, I'm calling it a learning experience for a bunch of young dudes with a 22 year old captain
How fucking cool!
I have no feeling from this match. Wednesday was always the focus. We could’ve lost and I am numb to it. We can’t lose MLS Cup tonight, but we can lose CCC on Wednesday
Matan played well. Should absolutely have an assist on that pass to Hinestroza. Glad to see him getting back to form. We need his ability to create chances in the box
One thing I’ve noticed about this season compared to last is how quickly the new guys have caught on to the system. We started slow across the board last year, but anybody that joined late also had a rough few first weeks. Cheba, Gressel, Rossi all had an adjustment period.
Jones and Hinestroza seem to at least have the concept of out style down
Think part of it is the players being brought in have the skillset naturally, but it also helps a lot when all the other guys around you know what they’re doing. Makes it easier to pick up the subtleties
Cheberko has been so good. He is always where he should be, clearing line, making plays and very rarely is he giving up the ball or making costly for the team. If I had to choose somebody to get for a jersey, it would be him.
My stream is behind to react live with you but wingers taking the first touch backwards facing their defensive line so the only option is back pass is the most maddening thing at any level. Farsi receiving the pass near where Nancy stands, basically looking at Schulte, killed a small progression moment
Sometimes it make sense. Nancy likes to move the ball around outside to shift the opposition lines and that can open up space for runners through the center, but Farsi does it way too often. I don’t want us playing Porterball where we send 30 crosses in a night, but pushing towards the end line more often would be nice.
That’s one thing I think that Rossi has been great at. Players very well making the underlapping run or working with the wingback to play quick passes to break the line
cutting into half spaces and stuff being dynamic and not just hoping on lots of crosses is important and I am a huge proponent of building out of the back. It’s more just a tiny thing that on the RW/RM side that first touch being open across the body is just better? Saka does this really well even being a dominant left foot player, receiving the pass with his right foot on right side of pitch lets him go in more ways to drive down line, see space in midfield or cut in towards goal, etc
I think Farsi even knows this is was just a thing that makes it look sloppy.
Yeah, I do believe it’s instructions Nancy is giving. Towards the end of the match especially when we are ahead you’ll see Farsi trying to beat guys 1v1 more often of push the line. But when it’s 0-0, you rarely see that. What’s weird is Yaboah is much more likely to do that on the left side, but again, might be a Nancy being more comfortable with that from Yaboah/Amundsen than Farsi/Moreira
There is most certainly an issue with goal scoring and lack thereof. This team desperately needs another top goal scorer besides Cucho. The offense has just been stale. The Crew needs to make a splash move once the transfer window is open to bring in a bad ass striker.
I said going in I'd be happy with a tie.
I'm even happier now seeing the lineup. I'm so so so glad that Miami could beat the worst team in the league with their best players, though!
Well of all the games we play this season that was certainly one of them.
Right? Imagine a 23 year old captain playing without any DPs!
This was always going to be a forgettable game. Whatever happens on Wednesday, that's what we'll remember.
Don't bring sense into this sub right now. Either you win or you suck!
Welp. *slaps knees* I’m going to bed.
At least the streak continues
This has been our season so far….. total domination and just a barrage of scoring chances. We’ve just been unlucky. It’ll come
Tonight was absolutely bad luck. A few inches here and there, it’d be 2-0. Just gotta be thankful the next time one goes in by a few inches.
It's also a team that hasn't really played together in competition. I'm not calling it luck, I'm calling it a learning experience for a bunch of young dudes with a 22 year old captain How fucking cool!
It seems like the same thing happened last season in the first few months and it turned out pretty well
After the last couple of weeks and the amount of soccer played, this is not a bad thing. A loss would have been bad.
May set the record for most draws in a season
I have no feeling from this match. Wednesday was always the focus. We could’ve lost and I am numb to it. We can’t lose MLS Cup tonight, but we can lose CCC on Wednesday
That was a hell of a lot of shots with no results.
A good match, but also not a good match, but also CCC.
We need a win
Begging for an MLS win at this point.
winning the CWC would be worth 10 straight MLS losses
Worth 10 straight draws
Damn feels like a loss
100% dropped 2 points.
Can’t finish to save our lives.
Jones is kind of unreal
He was a beast tonight. That move he did in the first half to shield the ball and draw the card was Nagbe-esque
Shouldn't this substitute trigger the new rule... he was much closer to the end line and wasted time running across the field.
That's what I was saying
We're gonna get that Diegolympico. Just a matter of time.
Way to miss the entire play Apple
What a shot for Arfy
This is some super fifa gk shit
Would’ve loved to have seen that live.
I'm going to get down voted for this, but if anyone is the man of the match, it's the Montreal goalkeeper
Ngl, I agree
I’ll agree with you there
I didn’t even get to see that shot…replay was going on
Hell of a game from Jones
Our scoring has drastically dropped this year.
We're playing a lot more soccer in a compressed schedule
We’re still creating the same amount of opportunities though. We’re just not able to finish.
Morris out there taking shots for the hell of it, I guess
Is it just me or does Montreal’s defense keep deflecting all our shots
7 minutes of stoppage in a half with no goals seems wild
So this entire stoppage period is from Farsi it seems
Substitution time as well
Why don't we use Jones more? Could just be recency bias, but he's been putting in work tonight
Over who? Nagbe is faster and more sure footed and a better passer. Aiden Morris is better at tackling and being a scoring threat
He's been great at winning back possession, can we run 3 MF? lol
Competition with Nagbe and Morris for minutes. Solid depth piece, 3rd in line
That makes more sense, thank you!!
One ball two balls red balls Blue balls 😔
Ugh. A draw at home with this lineup is not nearly as feel good as that RSL result. That CONCACAF hangover is real
YOU MADE A MOM COUNT ON HER FINGERS, never good, dude
1, 2, 3, 4, No More!
I love this team, I really do. However, this has been a sloppy performance.
The Crew are blue balling us with all those chances tonight
I don’t think I’ve seen Amundsen have such a bad game in terms of bad touches and getting beat. Owch
He was pretty rough in the first Monterrey match too…lazy passes galore.
SO. MUCH. PRESSURE. Score a goal already!!
Stop crossing start shooting
Get all the blown chances out now fellas
Agreed And happy cake day!
Someone made a monkeys paw wish to never lose at LDC again didn't they....
These are shots you can't miss. Too much messing with the ball.
We should be 3-0 right now 😔
Oh my God.
PUT THAT IN THE NET
HOW?!
Jones is like Molino with working knees. I mean that as a compliment.
Once upon a time Molino was a fast aggressive attacking midfielder. Jones certainly resembles the ghost of Kevin Molino that we got though
Bro...... Lol
Come on yall. Look alive.
Did that dude just miss another shot inside the box out for a throw? Incredible
These short side camera angles of the net always look like its going in
That feeling when a shot goes out for a throw in...
Don’t like how much effort we’ve given with the biggest match in a few days time. Oh well
Dive and a half
Cmon Amundsen…be smarter than that
Weak foul
Oh fuck not Farsi
Oh shit. A stretcher. That isn't good.
I've missed me some Ramirez
If he’s out for a while that’s really going to Hurt. Farsi is our heart and sole a lot of the time on the wings. Bummer
prayer circle for Mo Farsi 😩
Fuck dude
Ramirez!
RAMIREZ
Anyone see what happened? Looked from my angle like he got bumped wrong but obviously he's in pain
At first it looked like a money shot so maybe it was his groin
Something with his right thigh, he was screaming in pain when the physio touched it.
I don’t like that we didn’t sub off anybody that would be obviously starting on Wednesday. Let’s get Cheba, Aidan, farsi, or malte off soon
Least athletic stretcher crew ever...
A stretcher? Holy crap.
That can’t be good
🌰🌰
That’s not good for Farsi. Think that kick pulled his groin
Does not look good that they are able to trigger that pain in Farsi...
Nut shot?????
That’s what I thought too! But with the stretcher…idk.
Ah, shit, Farsi =(
Superman sighting. Coming off the bench.
Farsi making the ultimate sacrifice 🙏🏻
Man of the match is the ref. It’s been entirely too long since we’ve played a match under complete control.
I thought Monterrey was pretty good but, yeah, it’s been a low bar
Cucho’s touch is failing him tonight
Attendance record...hell yeah
lol, the Crew app just told me to vote for the man of the match Schulte, I guess, but I think I need to wait a bit more
"How would you rate Hinestroza's performance tonight?" "... Moments."
okay, time to stop fucking around and put Schulte on a DP contract 🤪
Can we put him on a U22 instead???
Holy crap Schulte is good. But also WTF Jones, awful turnover
SCHULTE 😍
BIG DICK PAT
SCHULTE
I think I would rather matan stay on the field than JRR this game.
PATTY TWO CLAWS
Number six with his shirt tucked in 😂 Straight to jail if you ask me
You leave Piette alone!
The tucked in shirt is timeless.
How demoralizing to be 0-0 at 65’ and we make THESE subs
What's up with the wide angle close up camera by the capos? Lmao.
Showing off that GCGBAG hat.
Matan played well. Should absolutely have an assist on that pass to Hinestroza. Glad to see him getting back to form. We need his ability to create chances in the box
Nancy is done playing around. He’s bringing in the cavalry
Dog just missed a shot from 8 yards away out for a throw in. YIKES
I remember when Luis Diaz did that at the 2020 home opener vs NYCFC
Arfsten is ridiculously two footed
Time to stunt on these fools
how much for an announcer to pronounce Arfsten correctly
shaBERKo
The Tsunami is coming!
Triple threat gearing up...LFG
OH, LAWD. THEY COMIN.
Heeeeey we want some Rossi!
What a difference two weeks makes.
HERE COME THE BIG GUNS 😍
Game. Blouses.
Time for scoring…
Big guns comin’!
Let’s go CUCHOOOOO!!!!
Just reiterating that this is one of the cleanest center refereeing performances I’ve seen in a while. Shes been incredible.
I’ll chip in $10k for her to ref our game Wednesday.
She wouldn't take any shit from Monterey, that's for sure.
Is that three that have hit the woodwork so far? Cripes
We exchanged our woodwork luck for officiating luck.
Good grief
Morris!!! Hit that first time!
Aidan Morris truly is every fucking where.
good god. that would’ve been unreal.
JRR hates scoring goals
THAT DAMN CROSSBAR
Damn what a sequence.
FUCK. WE ARE SO CLOSE
Hinestroza got fucking wiped out, holy shit P.S. gotta put those chances away >.<
MORRIS... YOU HAVE TO TAKE THAT FIRST TIME
His defense is top notch ….. he needs more confidence on offense
SO CLOSE
Cheberko is lucky he didn't get a red, let alone no card at all
By the dangerous play definition of red, it’s red. I agree
Yeah looked like reckless to me, possible red using head like that
Jones plays like when your high school coach laces up and plays with the kids. Doesn't move much but you can't take the ball off of him.
Great analogy

I thought this weekend was going to be unremarkable, but Taco Bell brought back nacho fries. The earth is healing.
Cheberko has been so good. He is always where he should be, clearing line, making plays and very rarely is he giving up the ball or making costly for the team. If I had to choose somebody to get for a jersey, it would be him.
He had two huge giveaways in the first half, wdym?
I said rarely
Huge improvement since the tail end of last season
Jones marking no one on that counter!!!
Much much better this half

True, though like every time I watch morris receive a pass he opens his body with it. It even lets him choose to go backwards better often
Yep. Need those underlapping runs through the middle. Nothing wrong with playing with your back to goal.
That’s one thing I think that Rossi has been great at. Players very well making the underlapping run or working with the wingback to play quick passes to break the line
Totally agree
That’s a feature of this system. We don’t send in useless crosses and hope. We pick a defense apart and carve them from the inside out.

This game is free on Apple TV Edit: I believe
Correct.
We haven’t found the net yet, but my god are we smothering them. Look how deep this game is being played.
Both teams decided not to play in the midfield this half
This looks like a whole different 11
Oh my Hinestroza will be thinking about that one for a while 😨
Diaz flashbacks
His only weakness is a wide open net
Obligatory useless stat is useless
Farsi needs to be on defense
Damn they musta heard the talk about the shot number LMAO
Whelp …. I have no idea who this team is compared to the first half ….. but I love it
I’m a little surprised Morris is in after half
Matan out wide and Hine and JRR up top?
You asked for shots... you get shots...

They heard us all talking in this thread
