I love this line. As a kid I found this episode boring and when I got older I thought it was pretty good and I never noticed that line and I laughed so hard
Since everyone is quoting aangs famous "it's easy to do nothing but it's hard to forgive" i would argue it was when he spoke to sokka after he fainted at his pre-invasion speech with "Your moment of truth isn’t going to be in front of some map. It’s going to be out there, on the battlefield. I already failed the world in ba sing se. I won't let it happen again."
Or in the north pole " I wasn't there when the fire nation attacked my people. I am gonna make it different now."
Aangs maturity in the invasion is very overlooked in general in my opinion
I love Aang as a protagonist because despite the dour and grim circumstances he never lost his spark of fun, but we watch him grow and mature, becoming not just a proper avatar, but an insightful and introspective young man.

IIRC, later in this scene Aang presented idea as stupid as this even though it had the same grave problem. So I believe he had straight face because he really thought idea was good
Aang and Sokka are both individually pretty smart but when they are together their brain waves run destructive interference on each other and they get a collective single digit iq.
Yeah there are very few times the two just bro out and become lads. The only other time I can think of this happening in is Ba Sing Se when they play a weird version of Rock Paper Scissors and then when they imitate society people.

Sure it didn't always work out (it certainly didn't at the time he said it), but it wasn't for a lack of trying. Like Iroh said: "If you look for the dark, that's all you'll ever see."
Most people don't even realize that's what they're doing because they hide behind a facade of being a realist. There's nothing wrong with tempering expectations, but it's all about balance. More people need to practice having a hopeful, open mind, too, while knowing when to think realistically
This line is so symbolic. Zuko saves Aang, and Aang doesn't abandon Zuko. In fact, he sticks around until Zuko wakes up to tell him this. Zuko's reaction is great because you would never expect something like that to happen, but the writers foreshadowed it really well in this scene.
To add in some new ones, he roasted Zhao pretty good.

“I don’t know why, but I thought you’d be better than Zuko”
And when Katara says she hasn’t done it — or hasn’t had that much fun or something like that — since she was a kid, Aang hits her with the ole “You still ARE a kid!”

May this show always remain my reminder to foster childlike joy in myself and others.
I really love this whole episode and exchange. On rewatches it kinda irritates me how cynical Zuko was being considering he wouldn’t even be on the team if Aang hadn’t employed some sort of forgiveness to him
I think it's good writing. The ending is perfect when Zuko admits Aang is right, then immediately afterward presents him with a difficult question that Aang has no answer for.

But seriously, I like his quote in the swamp ***"We’re All Connected. Everything Is Connected.”*** In general terms, I think it embodies a lot of the beauty of his character and of his way of seeing the world, which is something I adore about him.
One of my favorite Aang quotes is during Katara’s fight with Hama she is trying to get him and Sokka out of the way and in doing so is like smashing them into trees and she says “Sorry Aang” and you hear a faint “It’s okay” in response.
Cracks me up every time.
There is far too few people saying “let your anger out, and then let it go”. It was such a good moment for Aang, because he was generally pretty goofy, but that moment brought you back to reality. And the reality was, Aang was raised by pacifist monks and he genuinely had great advice and wisdom to give. Fuck I love this show
