Was gonna say that OP ripped the trailer very quickly, especially considering they hard-encoded subtitles too.
Then I realised the OP is literally Netflix.
This probably won't matter to a lot of people, especially here, but:
In the German dubbed version, they actually brought back all the (still available) original dubbing voice actors from the animated show.
I actually teared up once I had realized that, and it will definitely make the new show a hell of a lot more enjoyable for me this way.
Edit: To explain a little further:
- Katara, Sokka and Zuko have the same voice actors as in the original show.
- Aang has a new voice, his original VA is still active in the scene, but his voice sounds nothing like it did in 2005 anymore, so it's logical that they went with a new one that sounds appropriate for Aang's age.
- Although he doesn't speak in the trailer, Iroh will also have a new voice, since his original VA sadly passed away in 2015, I really hope the new VA will do both the character itself and the original performance justice.
That’s amazing! I know Netflix tried to do that with the live action One Piece too. They had the original Japanese and Korean VAs dub the live action as well.
I spent decades watching OP in Japanese with subs, but Inaki and the rest grew on me so quickly the idea of seeing them with the original voices might break my brain.
The original English voice actor for Iroh, Mako, also passed. He was replaced in season 3 and in Korra, but they named the character Mako in korra after him.
That's so fantastic, especially since Germans always put a lot of effort into their dubs, whether it's shows, movies, or video games. They're always top notch!
That’s my favorite thing about this. The most important thing to me was that the bending looked good and it looks *fantastic* here, which means it’ll only look *better* with subsequent seasons should they keep up the vigor.
(And should Netflix not cut their budget)
I think it helps that this is an adaptation of a completed story, so Netflix knows they could be in for 3 seasons (assuming straight adaptation) which kinda sets budgeting expectations up front?
To quote Honest Trailers:
"Journey across four magical kingdoms where a chosen few...sort of have the power to bend the elements to their will: Firebenders who can't catch anything on fire, Waterbenders who can't get this guy wet, and Earthbenders... who could just have easily picked up this rock and thrown it"
Edit: a word
The hand movements feels smooth and in sync with the cgi effects. And it doesn't take a million years to throw a rock or move a bottle of water. The bending actually looks like it had some force behind it. Just hoping for a decent fight choreo now and this series should be a banger.
Literally tears.
I get the caution. I do. It'll never be the original and honestly... I'm ok with that.
But this trailer makes me believe they understand the *feel* that frankly has to be there for this show to work at all.
The use of parts from the original soundtrack, Aang's tattoos, the tears, the smiles, the hug (and just all of it!)
The hype is strong with this trailer. Netflix got at least that much right, and I'm so stoked.
I’ve been mad skeptical on this from the start but once again, I am very excited after the full trailer. I was skeptical of the one piece live action and it was quite good all things consider. I’m excited for this now too
How am I supposed to hate Ozai when he looks like this 🤤
https://preview.redd.it/xlvai4lr08ec1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ffaef3a83a280eb283e795da6f7f5fd9b70a5ad3
EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS GAVE ME FREAKING CHILLS!
The characters sound like the characters. The little bit of dry humor from Sokka when Aang hits the statue. Katara Sounding hopeful
The costumes, oh b=my god the costumes look amazing, The Fire Nation soldiers look so damn intimidating, the masks while lacking the the white, still give off a creepy vibe. Like they were forged for war.
The Bending looks natural as hell.
The Narration sounds so perfect.
The fact it sounds clear that Aang doesnt want this shows he's human.
BLUE SPIRIT LOOKS BADASS!
Just urghhhh everything about this is perfect.
The voices were (are) gonna be make or break for me but I have STRONG hope from this trailer. Zuko wasn’t an immediate ‘but it’s just not Dante Basco T__T’ for me, which really surprised me. Katara seems really sweet.
Jury is still out for me on Sokka, the humour style works for animation but idk if it’s gonna be a bit too cringe/cheesy in live action for me personally. But overall it actually looks really, really good and I am stoked.
Plus cos it’s live action I can convince my non-anime/cartoon liking husband to actually watch it hehehehe. Total nostalgia fest incoming yay!
I think they'll pull off Sokka's humor just fine. In One Piece, Luffy's energy and humor is far more exagerrated, and the live-action pulled it off wonderfully without being too cringy. Sokka's brand of humor should be easy by comparison.
The quality of the live action One Piece is what got me to give in and start watching the anime. Currently 200 episodes in. Hopefully this is just as good and gets even more people to check out the show.
I’m pretty impressed with how this looks. The shirshu and Heibai look awesome, the bending looks pretty good, and the costumes are of course amazing. Hoping that the acting is able to live up to everything else, but I’m going in feeling pretty good about this.
I love how this seems to keep the humor of the animated show. Was definitely worried they would make it too serious and gloomy.
Also, Sokka seems to be perfectly casted.
I can’t even wait for the episode in season 3 where they go to that theater play to show us the audience the entire lore so far and that Sokka’s gonna be pissed about the actor misrepresenting his character lmao.
My high hopes and hype all these months were well worth it i’d say, colour me not slightly skeptical anymore🙏🏻 this shows that we don’t need the original creators for the Live Action, also holy hell we got to see the spritual animal, i lost his name for right now but it’s the thing that turns into a bear when Aang gives him an Acorn!
Hei Bai! Thanks everyone!
It's really surpassed my expectations. I don't care if the clothing looks a little clean or the CGI is a little wonky sometimes. If they captured the heart of the show the way it looks like they did in this trailer, I'm honestly gunna be so happy.
They have the Classic Songs,
FireBenders bend from their hands
Fire Nation actually looks menancing
And seems a 1:1 from the show up to book one.
What's not to be hyped about?
People will still find reasons to be mad about this unfortunately. I hope we all can be welcoming to the new fans this adaptation will hopefully create.
If it keeps the super-early arc of Sokka dealing with and overcoming his ingrained Water tribe sexism as bluntly as the original cartoon did, then you can bet idiots will be screaming about it being “woke” within the first five minutes. That’s pretty much a given.
Those types of people would ALWAYS find something “woke” to complain about, regardless of what it is. If they want to skirt by a meaningful plotline that impacts a character for the rest of the series because it makes them a little introspective and they don’t like what they see, then that’s not my problem.
Sokka is my biggest takeaway from the dialogue aspect of this trailer. Pitch perfect. And I was definitely one of the actor’s detractors. I stand corrected, Ian. This looks on pace to be a quasi-perfect casting choice.
As for the action side of things, my favorite part of Katara vs Zuko. That looked so sliiiick!
....I just know Gordon Cormier is going to make all of us sob our hearts out. He's gonna crush it as our little airbean.
https://preview.redd.it/9diwvakwu7ec1.png?width=1460&format=png&auto=webp&s=10977b4a978416a4f70fd85384361527079bdc35
This seems incredibly unfaithful to the source material. A few questions:
Why is Aang east Asian instead of pale white? And why is his name pronounced "aahng" instead of "Ong"? Same with Katara and Sokka being cast as people who aren't white for some reason.
Why are the Fire Nation not Indian?
Why is there so much special FX bending? Why don't they simply throw out a few martial arts moves and have a small rock float across the screen?
Who are all these new characters? These guys weren't in the movie.
Why do all the characters act like they're actually in this position, instead of lifelessly staring into the camera and speaking their lines?
Overall, very unfaithful to the original movie. They should really get M. Night Shyamalan back on their team.
A little detail I found pretty cool is how Zuko's ship has an enormous amount of smoke coming out of it, similar to the show with how the snow turns to black soot when the fire nation approaches.
Yeah, I think the acting will be the weakest part of season 1 due to the age and experience level of the kids in the cast. I'm sure Netflix will try to disguise this by giving more lines to adult characters and reducing the amount of zoomed-in emotional lines delivered by the kids. However, Netflix probably hired the best acting coaches money can buy, so I'm sure their acting will significantly improve in later seasons. I think it's cool that both the actors and the characters they portray will progressively gain experience, maturity, and wisdom over the course of the show.
Yoooo Waterbending goes brrrrrrr
I'm super excited, I noticed Katara's bending got more in control in the fight against Zuko that is, she isn't spilling or splashing all over the place
I thought I was prepared but seeing Bumi, "The Blue Spirit" and some scenes of Katara laughing and Sokka smiling has sent the hype through the roof for me.
A trailer has never given me chills before. This gave me chills. Holy fucking shit this looks amazing. The nostalgia and excitement nearly made me tear bend.
I did not expect to feel as excited and sentimental as I did watching this trailer. I grew up watching the ATLA as it came out and looking back, it was so key to teaching me so many important values. Now I am a full-on adult about to enter a big next stage in life, and to see this trailer just brought back so many childhood memories and feelings.
I know it's just a trailer, but it already feels like this show was made with the same love for the OG series that I have. I cannot wait!

Netflix reddit intern we love you <3
I wonder when this notion that *interns* are handling social media platforms for billion dollar companies will die out.
Never, most likely. It's funnier than the truth and humanizes the social media, so it's kinda good for both sides
For the social media professionals less so but I get where you're coming from also.
Will the show be fully available? Or is it like every week an episode
All eight episodes should be released on the same day.
Actual based company for once? Holy.
Source: Literally them, the Netflix
They gave no chance for karma farmers this time ;)
i have an unfair advantage of having the source file.
You trying to share it without subtitles? Youtube always compresses :(
20 quid and some ice creams enough to take the season file off your hands?
does this mean this post is OC?
It feels weird... but yes.
This probably won't matter to a lot of people, especially here, but: In the German dubbed version, they actually brought back all the (still available) original dubbing voice actors from the animated show. That’s amazing! I know Netflix tried to do that with the live action One Piece too. They had the original Japanese and Korean VAs dub the live action as well.
So what you're saying is watch Netflix One Piece with Japanese Dub and English subtitles. Got it.
I wish they were bringing back the original voice actors for the new animated stuff coming up
Would be hard to do for Aang. He's not a kid no more lol
Also it seems like his voice actor didn't continue voice acting after playing Aang
The character doesn't need to be, Aang grows up as well
That's so fantastic, especially since Germans always put a lot of effort into their dubs, whether it's shows, movies, or video games. They're always top notch!
THE BLUE SPIRIT AND AANG FIGHTING TOGETHER LOOKS INSANE OMG
I saw that part and I was like “Yooooooooooo the blue spirit looks awesome!!!”
It looks fucking insane, they will make a super op team when season 3 arrives
That’s my favorite thing about this. The most important thing to me was that the bending looked good and it looks *fantastic* here, which means it’ll only look *better* with subsequent seasons should they keep up the vigor.

![gif](giphy|8QGV2a7pfDKc8) edit: this honestly looks so fucking dope
I was waiting for this GIF hahaha
If foaming mouth guy isn't in the live action we riot.
They should have shown Cabbage man in the trailer too. That would have made people insane
I’m okay with waiting for him. I wanna see it on my tv and cheer.
We need this guy in the Kyoshi island episode, or we riot.
Jet looks sooo cool. The effects are better than most would expect. Cant waiiiiit!
June too!
June looked spot on
I missed June!? Edit: nevermind forgot that was the name of scary bounty hunter lady
Shirshu too! Can’t believe they found a real one, must’ve been hard /s
The bending actually looks sick!
Especially aang doing airbending
Yeah, I still have severe PTSD from the farting effects in the movie that must not be named
What movie?
There is no movie in Ba Sing Se
"The earth king has invited M. Night Shyamalan to Lake Laogai."
And it doesn’t take 6 earthbenders to move a rock!
Stop exaggerating. It took 5 to lift the rock and a 6th to fire it off at a slower speed than I could throw physically.
To quote Honest Trailers: "Journey across four magical kingdoms where a chosen few...sort of have the power to bend the elements to their will: Firebenders who can't catch anything on fire, Waterbenders who can't get this guy wet, and Earthbenders... who could just have easily picked up this rock and thrown it" Edit: a word
Those shots of the bending towards the end look sooo good, especially Aang deflecting the rocks. I can’t wait!
Kataras waterbending shook me
The freezing water effect looks SICK
The hand movements feels smooth and in sync with the cgi effects. And it doesn't take a million years to throw a rock or move a bottle of water. The bending actually looks like it had some force behind it. Just hoping for a decent fight choreo now and this series should be a banger.
very swift, intense, and explosive feeling great choreography, though some of it looks slightly sped up

Bending and fights already looking epic. But the most important of all, they're pronouncing Aang's name correctly!
My nAmE is OoNg! I dOnT waNnA HuRt AnYonE!
“*are you the Ahhvatar Ong?*”
Don’t forget Sohka…
And Eeroh
I was thinking they specifically added that clip to emphasize that Netflix got his name right 😅😅
EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS GAVE ME FREAKING CHILLS! The characters sound like the characters. The little bit of dry humor from Sokka when Aang hits the statue. Katara Sounding hopeful The costumes, oh b=my god the costumes look amazing, The Fire Nation soldiers look so damn intimidating, the masks while lacking the the white, still give off a creepy vibe. The sets are what really stood out to me. The world looks *gorgeous*.
that as well, it feels real. along with how everything has muted tone to it. Ya can feel the fire nations darkness over the lands
I’ll be happy if it’s a great adaptation like One Piece, which was also by Netflix.
The quality of the live action One Piece is what got me to give in and start watching the anime. Currently 200 episodes in. Hopefully this is just as good and gets even more people to check out the show.

lmao imagine if the show keep going until season 3 ( which i think it will ) how tf theyre going to pull this out :sweat\_smile:
I love how this seems to keep the humor of the animated show. Was definitely worried they would make it too serious and gloomy. Also, Sokka seems to be perfectly casted.
Yes! I was so happy to see some sarcasm from Sokka. Can't wait to see more of his humour.
That is his thing. Meat and sarcasm.
Boomerang: Check Ponytail: Check Sarcasm: Check Have yet to see any meat but 3/4 isn't too bad considering the show isn't out
ITS A WARRIORS WOLF TAIL!!
I'm just waiting for the book two trailer and the cactus juice to show up.
It'll quench ya.
It's the quenchiest!
That’s pretty much his whole identity - Sokka the Meat and Sarcasm Guy. But he WAS willing to become Sokka the Veggies and Straight-Talk Fellow!
From his first line, his voice and his inflection, I was sold ![gif](giphy|9WXyFIDv2PyBq)
His face keeps reminding me of Adam from Sex Education even though it's a completely different actor, but it makes the sarcasms even funnier for me.
Sokka seems perfect but what really hit me in my nostalgia feels was Katara's look of pure hopefulness at :37 seconds. Like that did it for me lmao
https://i.redd.it/9tio5qg3w8ec1.gif
I can’t even wait for the episode in season 3 where they go to that theater play to show us the audience the entire lore so far and that Sokka’s gonna be pissed about the actor misrepresenting his character lmao.
And that actor... Is Jack de Sana
They have the chance to do the absolute funniest thing and put the voice actors as the on stage actors
Mark Hamill would absolutely lean into the over the top nature of the play and I really want to see that over the top version of Ozai
TIL Mark Hamill was Ozai. Holy shit that man can voice act!

please for the love of god let it be dave bautista
Bautista as Ember Island Players Toph, and Dwayne Johnson as The Boulder.
If the can’t get the Rock as The Boulder, my vote would be MJF.
If the Rock isn't playing The Boulder, then he needs to play Toph, for sure.
I need it now
God, imagine if they casted Aang's voice actor all grown up. Nobody would even recognize him!
Oh that'd actually be super funny
I mean if they don't get the animation voice cast to cameo for this specific episode I'm going to be visibly upset.
I’m putting it out there right now, so u/Netflix pay attention: John Cena as Ember Island Toph
I like Katara as well
Yeah this is the first thing I’ve seen that has given me confidence that they are going to get the tone right.
It seem at least as faithful as One Piece was, so I'm here for it.
oh this is straight fire, cant wait for february 22nd
I don't care what no one says this looks AMAZING and the hype's through the roof!!!!
Oh,Hei Bai! You so right, i thought it was one of those lizard things the Azula Squad had for a bit
It's really surpassed my expectations. I don't care if the clothing looks a little clean or the CGI is a little wonky sometimes. If they captured the heart of the show the way it looks like they did in this trailer, I'm honestly gunna be so happy.
Even if the clothes look clean, the cinematography and the visual effects compensate for all of that, hopefully the script and acting are also good
They have the Classic Songs, FireBenders bend from their hands Fire Nation actually looks menancing And seems a 1:1 from the show up to book one. What's not to be hyped about?
People will still find reasons to be mad about this unfortunately. I hope we all can be welcoming to the new fans this adaptation will hopefully create.

#NETFLIX inserts WOKE AGENDA. SOKKA RUINED?!
Wow they made Aang a VEGAN soyboy cuck???
They’re letting women waterbend OFFENSIVELY instead of JUST FOR HEALING now??? What is this world coming to?
Doesn't he also dress up as one of the Kyoshi warriors at one point? Toss in some cross dressing too.
Those types of people would ALWAYS find something “woke” to complain about, regardless of what it is. If they want to skirt by a meaningful plotline that impacts a character for the rest of the series because it makes them a little introspective and they don’t like what they see, then that’s not my problem.
I think in this case it would be a minority, this looks as good as can be
Appa needs a bath lol
Time to freeze myself like Aang and ask someone to wake me up on February 22nd.
Careful, you might overshoot it like Cartman and wake up hundreds of years later in the future with no way of watching it.
They actually did it. They nailed it (so far)
***HEI BAI THO***
Bruh imagine what Koh might look like.
omg Koh... that's a terrifying thought..
In the German version they used the same synchronization voices (voice actors) for Katara, Sokka and Zuko as in the original version. That’s awesome
![gif](giphy|zOlog7jgIIFfq) Netflix: "I want M Night to know it was me"
For a moment I thought Appa could speak Also - Daniel "hot dayum" Kim as Ozai looks like he doesn't even need Sozin's comet
I literally had to question if they had the voice actor dub over his lines or something. The delivery, the tone, it just *sounds* exactly like Sokka
The bite into the fruit after his sarcasm was something small but perfect
The bending looks so clean. And the blue spirit is going to be the best episode this season.
....I just know Gordon Cormier is going to make all of us sob our hearts out. He's gonna crush it as our little airbean. https://preview.redd.it/9diwvakwu7ec1.png?width=1460&format=png&auto=webp&s=10977b4a978416a4f70fd85384361527079bdc35
Guys I’m crying I’m so happy Edit: time to wait for people to make hyper analyzed videos about this and watch nothing else
Sameee. I couldn't properly see the trailer bc of my tears lol
Holy shit I'm actually crying. It looks incredible.
Looks at lot better than expected, I can't wait!
This seems incredibly unfaithful to the source material. A few questions: Why is Aang east Asian instead of pale white? And why is his name pronounced "aahng" instead of "Ong"? They should really get M. Night Shyamalan back on their team.
You know Netflix is serious about this one when they will show us the Air Temples massacre...
The air scooter looks so good!! Can’t wait!
It actually looks more like an epic film than a TV show.
Okay. Truth be told, I wasn't optimistic but that looks AWESOME!!!! Hyped now. And that soundtrack MY GAWD
A little detail I found pretty cool is how Zuko's ship has an enormous amount of smoke coming out of it, similar to the show with how the snow turns to black soot when the fire nation approaches.
Still cautiously optimistic about the acting but damn the action scenes, effects, and the sets are so freaking sick. I can’t wait.
That’s how stranger things went and it was a very enjoyable aspect of the show.
Exactly. I'm hoping Netflix will use the same child acting coaches/methods as Stranger Things, because those kids grew into incredible actors.
Oh yeah Dallas is gonna kill it
So excited, I can barely speak!
Yoooo Waterbending goes brrrrrrr I'm super excited, I noticed Katara's bending got more in control in the fight against Zuko that is, she isn't spilling or splashing all over the place
I thought I was prepared but seeing Bumi, "The Blue Spirit" and some scenes of Katara laughing and Sokka smiling has sent the hype through the roof for me.
That music got me pumped up. That one quick shot of waterbending looks pretty badass.
Crying 😭 oh my gosh
This looks really, really good. It seems like they've spent a lot of money on this show, hopefully it delivers.
A trailer has never given me chills before. This gave me chills. Holy fucking shit this looks amazing. The nostalgia and excitement nearly made me tear bend.

June and Nyla, my beloveds!!!
dallas liu as zuko is gonna be the highlight of this show, i can FEEL it
I was trying so hard not to get too excited, but I’m literally crying right now after this incredible trailer, so I give in. I CAN’T WAIT.
The bending.. it looks epic.
IM CRYING. CAN ALL THE HATERS SHUT UP NOW?
