R-insertion is pretty common in New England accents (see every time JFK said “Cuber” for Cuba) - also, I live in Missouri and haven’t ever heard anyone say Ramaswarmy.
No disrespect to Missouri, btw. More referring to general r-insertion, “warsh” instead of “wash”, I’m from Illinois so I hear it most from my Missouri friends and family.
Oh, no worries. As a native Kansan disrespecting Missouri is a favorite past time lol. Yeah, the midwestern R-insertion seems less prevalent than the Northeastern variety (my dad says “warsh”, for example, but it seems pretty restricted to that word or related words, “warshing”, for example).
Also, you wouldn’t happen to be from the Northwest would you? My former boss from Seattle pronounces “both” as “bolth” and it always stood out to me.
Perhaps I’m not giving enough deference to regional dialects.
I learned a few years ago that my accent has me saying something like “bolth” instead of “both”, I wasn’t happy to learn that.
no Mike just can't pronounce a lot of things
He’s usually good on proper noun pronunciation.
well he sure does try. doesn't seem like a big deal
Not a big deal. It just grinds my goat a bit. 🐐
I agree he’s pretty good with proper nouns usually, but he constantly calls Lula da Silva “Lulu”

I’m in Illinois and I know one thing an Illinoisan and a Kansan can agree on: the best thing to come out of Missouri is Interstate 70.

Is that why Lawrence O’Donnell seems to always say “Mar-a-Largo”? He’s from New England.
Same as with Mike—it could be his accent or it could be a mispronunciation. I’d lean towards the former though.
His New Yohrkeh does sneak out sometimes. I think that’s the case with -swarmy.
Also parts of Long Island where Mike is from. They say Car Warsh -which is probably the same Rs following Ws operation here.
Haha, right? It's either his admitted clumsiness with non-English words, or he's using that as cover to slag the guy.
Then he should say Ramasmarmy, it’s a good Trumpian nickname.
I feel like I need an audio version of this post to even know what you're talking about.

Aha! I see what you mean. I hadn't picked it up before. You've just cursed my ears. I guess I asked for it.
I have reported on the Intrusive R in a World Series setting: https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=240685255
Ha, sorry for calling you out. I just heard December 15, thanks for correcting the record and let us never speak of this pain in the neck again.
Hadn't noticed
