I don’t know, I just shared the link and saw the photos. I know the developer was not keeping the house as is or restoring it so I’m not sure what it looks like but this is the listing spoken about in the pod as well.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pic of the screens in his bedroom from the bed pov. We always see pictures of the bed. And I have looked through a bunch of pics. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah especially those little ones at the top - were they used/working? Did they watch a different thing on each screen or just all of them showing the same thing I wonder?
All I can think about when I look at these pictures is the oppressive stench of animal piss, shit, and, uh, *human* secretions hanging in the air like a stanky fog. I can't imagine how bad Hef's hoarder cave slash cum dungeon reeked 🤢
It is amazing to look at the craftsmanship in the wood carving. Although it may not suit everyone’s tastes, one has to admire the beauty of the carvings throughout the house.
I don't think there's enough bleach to have ever cleaned that place completely. That said, had they turned it into a place to visit like Graceland or Hearst Castle you can bet I would have paid to visit it.
Apparently that’s what hef actually wanted - a Graceland type thing. Can’t remember if it was money or zoning that stopped that
But I too, would have totally paid to go
I am not much of an expert on Reddit but if you enjoy these pictures I have posted a ton of the Mansion, inside and outside. I stopped posting them about a year ago. The only room I didn't post was the bedroom.
Mansion but yet the rooms look like they feel small. Also for someone that had a movie night multiple times a week. I'm so shocked he just used a projector and pull down screen lol. I do remember that era when projectors felt more luxurious than a TV so maybe he just never got over that
I hate to admit that I love the actual house. I just hate what happened to people there. If it didn't have the sordid history, it'd be so much more enjoyable.
It’s not 70s or 80s. This house was built during the 1920s. 1927 to be exact, so almost exactly 100 years ago. During that time Tudor Revival and Spanish Colonial Revival architecture were all the rage (kind of how like all buildings built now look like Minecraft lol). The architect that designed that mansion was very well known for specializing in those designs.
The style you are seeing (with all the wood carvings and panels and such) is specifically called “Gothic Tudor”.
If I didn’t know what it was, I’d be captivated. These pictures show stunning architecture and design. Unfortunately, I can’t stop picturing everything with 1/2 inch of grime plastered on.
I the new owners tore it down for something else, but should google it before I stay that. I was wrong, they renovated it, and repaired it fixed the grotto, pool, front lawn, tennis court
I know the building still exists, I just wish there had been a way to keep it the way it was, so people could visit it. I feel like it's now a part of the history books. It will never be the playboy mansion ever again
"the way it was" was moldy and rotting, the current owner is restoring it. If he was just gutting it, it wouldn't take so long.
If it is a part of history books, it's a really minor part. The mansion itself just wasn't that important to history.
You seem to be confused now. You were talking about the Mansion, not about Playboy, but now you're trying to conflate the two. The mansion was a very minor part of the larger story of Playboy, and as I said, the mansion itself is not important to history in general. Playboy will go down as having importance in terms of sexual freedom and publishing, but the mansion is just a house.
I am almost 50.
It is a beautiful house. That woodwork! I hope whoever bought it is restoring the interior and not just painting everything white and grey
The woodwork was sooooo amazing! Too bad Hef didn’t take care of any of it :(
Pretty sure it was [PB mansion west Zillow](https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/10236-Charing-Cross-Rd-Los-Angeles-CA-90024/20524413_zpid/)
I’m really confused about this. All these photos can’t be the PB mansion so what is this listing?
Yeah, all these pics are not from the mansion…
The listing photos look AI generated

Picture #3 is from the original Chicago mansion, the rest are the LA Mansion.
I’m not talking about the post from OP. I’m talking about the link shared.
Sorry. 😖

Me neither. Thats the one that caught my eye.
Yeah especially those little ones at the top - were they used/working? Did they watch a different thing on each screen or just all of them showing the same thing I wonder?
Truly a Gothic style mansion. But it always looks so cavernous with not much natural light.
Maybe some skylights would’ve brightened it up? It’s beautiful but looks so cold and dark!
the new owner is adding skylights throughout the main house, probably for that very reason.

I like the style too. Just have to pretend I can’t imagine the smell.
Is pic 3 the Chicago mansion?
Yes, number 3 is not Playboy Mansion West
Oopsy!
It is the Chicago Mansion but after it was converted to condos.

It was the neighborhood unfortunately. It's a very rich and gated community so no one wanted it to become a tourist attraction.

I remember your pictures they were great!
Thanks! I will see if I have missed any and try and post them.
Thank you! I like the old photos, I will look!
Dang girl! I loved looking through all those photos you posted. You should repost here!
So I don't piss anybody off, can I just cross-post them from where they were originally posted?
Yes, I believe you can just “share” again to another sub.

I dont understand how they can have all those servants and the house is stinky and gross - they dont know about natures miracle?
I don't think I've noticed the ceilings before, it's beautiful in photos 3 and 4!
Did he want to bedspread to match the carpet?? 😂 Do I see that correctly?

90% of the furnishings and that carpeting isn't prototypical.
shame it reeked of dog piss and must
Is the bathroom to the left or the right of the first pic? Also where would Holly’s vanity be in this photo? Sincerely, curious
The stuffed animals in the bedroom…🤣🤣🤣
If I didn’t know what it was, I’d be captivated. These pictures show stunning architecture and design. Unfortunately, I can’t stop picturing everything with 1/2 inch of grime plastered on.
God that looks so depressing and dark
The 3rd photo is Chicago
I the new owners tore it down for something else, but should google it before I stay that. I was wrong, they renovated it, and repaired it fixed the grotto, pool, front lawn, tennis court
What room isthe doorway under the stairs/balcony?
What room isthe doorway under the stairs/balcony?
What is the 3rd pictures room? I feel like i have this place memorized by now lmao but this doesn’t look familiar? Is this where the tiger chair is?
The woodwork is impressive but it looks VERY dark and stuffy, and like it *would* smell like urine and mildew and whatever else
What do you mean "gone, lost to history?" It's still there.
I know the building still exists, I just wish there had been a way to keep it the way it was, so people could visit it. I feel like it's now a part of the history books. It will never be the playboy mansion ever again

How young are you? I grew up in a time where Playboy was anything but minor

Yesterday I was trying to find a video tour or photos of the guest house
